Kidco Baby Steps Food Mill

Kidco Baby Steps Food MillThis works well and is easy to clean, plus has a travel lid. I bought this for my daughter. I believe the one I used for her 30 years ago was just slightly better, It was a "Happy Baby" brand and I used to buy one for every new mother I knew. It might get a little easier to use after it gets more use.

I bought a kidco food mill in 2005 with my first and i loved it. It lasted through 3 kids and is quite worn out. I bought this one to replace it and was disappointed with it. Kidco changed the shape of it from circle to ovalish and the gadget doesnt grind all the food. It smashes the last half inch or so of food so it doesnt get gound up. I think the shape made it harder to get the food out compared to the older model. The only thing that i liked about this one was that the shaft of the mill had a grip hold.

This baby food grinder did not work at all. It squished out some liquid and left the food just smashed. Just a piece of junk. I know it was inexpensive but why sell it at all if it does not work.

I bought a Kidco food Mill in 2008. It was of limited use during my daughter's first year of life because the texture of the food produced was not 100% smooth. I had to puree larger batches of food to get the consistency that she preferred. Turns out that at four years of age my daughter is still texture sensitive, so I grind a lot of her food. I've used the same Kidco food mill for the last four years.

Pros: 1)Durable (four years and counting)

2)Can grind super small batches of food

3)Effective when you use the "work arounds" (see below)

Cons and "work arounds":

1)Difficult to grind foods that are not super soft--Work around is to push on the upper section with my feet (no shoes)while turning the crank. Using this method, this food mill grinds almost anything

2)Leaves about 1/4 inch of food at the bottom--Work around is to add 1/4 inch of food underneath whatever premium food you are grinding (for example today I placed a quarter inch of sunflower seeds underneath the spinach I was grinding so that all of the spinach made it through the food grate)

Beaba Babycook Rice Cooker

Beaba Babycook Rice Cooker - Orange for BabycookI have to heartily disagree with others' negative reviews about this accessory. It was incredibly easy to use and faster than cooking on the stovetop. To be fair, I have only cooked brown or wild rices that usually take about 45 minutes of simmering on the stoveplus you have to pay attention. The best part for me (as the mother of an active 10month old) is that the Babycook cooks the rice and then shuts itself off. If I forget about it, no disaster! And for about $10, the rice cooker insert is worth every penny. Maybe I have an updated instruction manual, but it very clearly states that you need to add water to level three in the Babycook AS WELL AS add 150 mL water to 100g rice in the insert (3:2 water to rice ratio). It sounds to me as if the other negative reviewers only added water to the Babycook and did not add water to the rice and/ or pasta in the insert. For me, it has yielded nothing but perfectly cooked, fluffy rice each and every time. I will note that occasionally, one cook cycle did not cook the rice entirely, but I have never needed to run more than two. My only complaint is that I did not have it sooner!

I have the same problem that a previous reviewer had. Rice and pasta are much easier prepared WITHOUT this accessory. The actual Beaba baby food maker has been fine, but both times I tried to make rice or pasta in this thing it never got cooked. The instructions are useless.

Well, I love my Beaba and I think their products are top-notch. I was excited to try the Rice Cooker because I thought it would be great to throw the rice and veggies in together with the flavor pod and voila! dinner for my baby, however THIS does not work or I am incapable of reading directions. It said in the directions to fill the water capacity to level three, three separate times which I did taking almost an hour to cook and the rice was not cooked all the way through. I also tried this with pasta to the same results. I may have been adding to much rice or pasta. Perhaps I am doing something wrong which apparently I am since so many people love the Rice/Pasta Cooker, but I am unable to get the stuff cooked! It's far simpler to just do it on the stove. Anyways this is pretty much the only Beaba product I have used that I do not like, but I would advise moms to give this a pass!

Nuby BPA FREE Infant Feeder Feeding Bottle Set, Color May Vary

Nuby BPA FREE Infant Feeder Feeding Bottle Set, Color May VaryI bought this at Walmart thinking what a great thing but really it was a hassle. you keep having to shove your finger up the back to push the food out and the way the little plunger part is you end up leaving food all stuck inside. The only thing I liked about it is that I took the little handle part off and noticed it fit all regular bottles so now I can use as kind of a training item. I recommend the Boon squirt. Way more convenient, no food wasted and costs the same at your local Target. The boon is a must have

Forget trying to clean this thing. The spoon and the bottles are impossible to clean. Also, forget putting stage 1 foods in these as it drips out the bottom!

i have a daughter who was born with a cleft lip and palate.. she has had her operations but she has no concept of how to latch onto a regular nipple and she can not suckle... this bottle gives her a long nipple to work with and the gum stimulater at the base of the nipple gives her something to latch to.. the bottle's push bottom allows me to push the formula to her when she no longer can or "forgets" for a moment.... this bottle does leak a little from the bottom, but thats the nature of the beast... i don't mind cause it allows me to teach my daughter how to eventually drink from a real bottle and then a sippy.. it comes with a sippy bottle to and it also has the push bottom!! i love this bottle.. it has also cut done on her colic, she takes in less air...

Freshfoods Freezer Tray

Freshfoods Freezer TrayI went through a few freezer trays until I chanced upon these via the Amazon UK website. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of Annabel Karmel recipes, so the branding had something to do with my looking at this in the first place.

However, when I received these trays and started using them, I was delighted with the results.

Pluses:

Large cube size makes it suitable for 2nd/3rd stage weaning. I also foresee this being useful even after the baby hits toddlerhood, as I'll still be able to use this for stocks and fruit.

BPA free etc. etc.

Silicon base can be twisted/pushed without cracking, this makes it fairly easy to get the food out.

Suitable for fine purees and chunkier foods.

Comes with a lid and is stackable. The lid is not airtight though, so I would recommend removing frozen food from the tray and transferring into a ziplock or other airtight container rather than keeping foods frozen in these trays.

Minuses:

Limited portions since each tray only allows you to make 9 cubes. I make food in bulk and find that I need 3 or 4 of these trays just so that I can freeze up one batch.

Each portion is rather large (if you fill the tray to the brim), which may make it less suitable for younger kids.

The silicon retains some food smells. It's not bad if the foods are steamed, but if you use these for freezing any foods cooked with oil/stock, it tends to retain a bit of the food smell and a bit of oiliness. I found that this can be cleaned, but the cleaning takes work.

It sometimes takes a bit of effort to remove cubes from the tray. This happens especially when I fill the cubes fully. I end up having to run the tray under water for a few seconds to loosen the cubes.

Overall I find this to be a good product, and would recommend it to those who cook in bulk for their kids.

I have several contraptions for making and freezing baby food, but I like these trays best! They are compact, allow you to freeze small (1oz) or larger portions, and are SO EASY to use. They are dishwasher safe (easy to clean) and the food cubes pop right out because the trays are silicone (anyone who is spending 5-10 minutes getting ALL of the food cubes out...let alone one...needs to stop making baby food and get some z's). :)

One shortfall I wouldn't leave the food in these trays long term (just overnight to freeze) because the lids don't seal. I don't see any way around that, since the trays themselves are made of flexible silicone.

Buy Freshfoods Freezer Tray Now

This freezing tray is awesome! I use it with my FreshFoods baby food maker and one full prepared mixture will fill this tray almost perfectly. (2 pears/2apples/2avacado etc) Each little cube is about 2oz which is great for just starting my 6 month baby on solids as thats just about what he'll eat in a sitting. I'd like to add that this tray is more for just freezing the food and then you need to transfer it to a freezer bag once frozen because the lid it comes with is just for stacking purposes and does not create an airtight seal. So that being said you shouldn't worry about the cubes being small as you can just unfreeze multiple cubes as your baby needs more food. I find the cubes REALLY easy to pop out for most foods but when I made avacado I had to get my husband to pop them out because it was just way too hard for me. Overall I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would definately recommend this to a friend. I will probably end up buying another one down the road as well so I can freeze multiple meals at once.

I use this tray to freeze and store puree for my baby. She's still small so I pour one oz of puree into each cube. Even they are half filled it's still difficult to pop them out. I twisted the tray and I ran the tray in water which helped a bit only. I had to turn it upside down abd keep pushing the bottom of the tray. I just ordered a beaba food tray hope it makes my life easier. What I expect from baby food tray are 1) easy to pop frozen food out and 2) bpa free. I do not recommend this product.

I make baby food purees for my son and had been using the Bebea brand freezer tray--which I loved! I decided I needed a second tray so I could save some time and make two types of food for the week at once. I decided to give this one a try because of its positive reviews and the better price, but every time I use this tray I wish I'd spent the additional 6 bucks and purchased another Bebea tray.

I've used this tray 5 6 times now, each time trying something a little different. But each time the problem is the same: the purees don't pop out easily! I end up spending 5 10 minutes getting one cube out. Complete waste of my time. I think the only reason the purees pop out at all is because they start to thaw. The square shape is what I think causes of the problem. I'm concerned that I'm going to tear the silicone every time I try to pop out my purees.

The reason I purchase these specialized baby food freezer trays is because I like that there is a lid. I found that ice cube trays didn't release the frozen purees easily, and I'd drop cubes of food on the floor trying to pop them out. A tray with a lid means I don't waste food.

I love my Bebea tray and plan to purchase another today. As for the Annabel Karmel tray? I'm going to eBay it. Wish I could rate it a 0 star. I don't understand the positive reviews...

Beech-Nut Good Morning Country Breakfast Stage 2, 4 Ounce Jars (Pack of 12)

Beech-Nut Good Morning Country Breakfast Stage 2, 4 Ounce JarsMy son has been enjoying Beechnut fruits and veggies since 6 months old, and I've been perfectly happy with them. I got some of the other combinations on a whim when he was ten months old to try out. One of them was this Country Breakfast mix.

My son, normally not a picky eater, took one bite and refused adamantly to eat more. At first we took his behavior for simple stubbornness and tried every trick we knew to get him to eat, but as the hour ticked on and neither his father nor I could make headway, we both tried the food ourselves.

After that we threw out the jar and opened up some peach puree as an apology to my son. The country breakfast tastes terrible. I don't mean it tastes just odd or bland. It tastes like dirty dishwater that has sat for several days. I can't believe we were trying to feed our son that! So, we'll not be getting anymore of that particular mix--though I'm happy enough with Beechnut product for their standard fruit and veggie mixes.

Please be aware that you probably don't want to order this in bulk unless you're sure your child already likes it and will eat it. Otherwise it will be a waste of your money.

Happy eating! ^_^ Shanshad

We purchased this at a local grocery store and haven't been able to find it since then...anywhere! My 1 year old son LOVES this meal! It doesn't smell bad (I don't taste his foods for him.) and he never turned away from it!

Skip Hop Bento Mealtime Kit, Black

Skip Hop Bento Mealtime Kit, BlackI've been looking for food containers for snacks for my diaper bags that don't waste space. These are perfect. The insulated container is slim and efficiently shaped and sized. It fits beautifully in my various ju-ju-be diaper bags. There is also enough space inside to slip a spoon and bib too.

This kit actually comes with 6 containers, not 3 as described by amazon. This makes it an even better value. Each container holds 8 ounces if filled to the very top. They are big..without being big. The containers hold moist food, even yogurt without leaking. But they are not leakproof. There is no gasket. I wouldn't try to put soup in them.

The insulated bag holds 3 containers at a time if laid down, but if you stand it up, and stack the containers, it holds 5 of the containers. It isn't really designed to do this, and its a little tough to get it zipped up, but it does work.

I send this meal kit with my two year old every day to daycare with her two snacks and lunch. What made this more useful over regular Tupperware type containers, was the ability to store each different food item (i.e. frozen pureed veggies, fresh fruit, ground beef) in a separate container, but have it be concise and connect to each other. This way, her teacher can warm up her frozen food without scorching the other items, and prevent me from carting a large bag of containers every day.

I have not been in a situation in which the ice pack would be useful, so I can't comment on how well it works, but I am very satisfied with the kit overall. The lids snap off easily and attach securely, I can fit five containers in the pouch without difficulty, and the containers are the perfect size for toddler tummies. (I usually use three for lunch, and fill up one each for her snack)

We use this to carry snacks and lunch for our two kids. The containers are a good size (half of a sandwich cut up fits into one), BPA free, and the shape of the cooler allows it to fit nicely in a diaper bag. We have the Skip Hop Double Duo and the Duo diaper bags and it fits easily into both. The set comes with 6 containers, so you can have 3 in the cooler and an additional 3 for non-refrigerated snacks. Even with 3 containers, there is room for utensils in the cooler. We have found it to be a very useful and good quality product. The top of the bag also has an elastic strap that you can use to secure a sippy cup or water bottle.

I hope they sell the reusable gel freezer pack separately, since it is a unique size (fit specifically for the cooler bag). We haven't needed a new one, but just in case it gets lost or damaged at some point I would like to be able to replace it without buying a whole new set. This review is by someone who is 100% non-compensated in any way.

I bought this with the hope that I could pack several different meals for my 5 year old. Unfortunately it didn't even get that far because I couldn't get the lids off of the containers--it was a real struggle--and I work out! They were just waaaaay to tight of a fit, and if I have trouble getting the lids to come off (and get back on) I can only imagine how frustrating it would be for a hungry child. I was really disappointed in this product because in theory it is a great idea--it just doesn't work.

I like the size and the containers. The only thing I would change is to add a handle. It's kinda ackward to handle.

Baby Mum-Mum Organic Original Flavor Rice Biscuit, 24-pieces (Pack of 6)

Baby Mum-Mum Organic Original Flavor Rice Biscuit, 24-piecesI had heard Mum Mums were a great finger food for babies so as soon as I got the OK from my son's pediatrician to start finger foods/teething biscuits, I purchased these. I was a little worried about the fact that they were from China, but after doing some research, I found that the milk powder that Mum Mums contain is made in New Zealand and that the Organic Mum Mums do not even have milk powder as an ingredient (although the box does state that the product may contain trace amounts.)

Anyway, my son loves to chew on these and play with them, and they don't make a mess like other teething biscuits. They are easy for him to hold and manipulate. I definitely recommend these over the other types of finger food and biscuits that you can get.

I bought mine from Amazon (for a good price for six boxes) but I have also seen these at Babies R US.

Baby Mum-Mum Organic Rice Rusks are great for calming a fussy baby. They are slightly sweet and dissolve quickly in the mouth. You would still watch your baby when they are eating these because they can still choke on these if they try to stuff a big piece in their mouth. This happened to us only once and our baby just spit it back out with a gag reflex. I love giving these to our baby while we're having our dinner so he can feel like he's eating with us. The only problem with these are when they get moist from being in the baby's mouth and it ends up on the baby's clothes or high chair or car seat, they dry like cement to whatever it is sticking to. I love that they are organic though but I don't like that they are made in China.

Pros: calms baby's fussiness, dissolves quickly, baby can practice self-feeding, organic

Cons: potential choking hazard, made in China, hardens to fabrics and objects when wet

Buy Baby Mum-Mum Organic Original Flavor Rice Biscuit, 24-pieces (Pack of 6) Now

I love that these are organic and as an infant, my son loved munching on these. They are quick to dissolve which is a plus for new solid eaters.

They are pretty bland and tasteless and have the consistency of a rice cake almost. It's good for new eaters, but as a toddler my son won't eat these anymore.

My 7-month-old easily gums these and they dissolve without inducing gagging! He liked them so much the very first time he tried them, I took a taste and was a bit disappointed because they did taste slightly sweet to me (they do have sugar)...but I'll likely buy these again, and recommend these over anything from Gerber!

Lassig Gold Label Messenger Bag

Lassig Gold Label Messenger Diaper Bag ,chocoI was looking for a large bag to use for an everyday holdall; I no longer require the services of a diaper bag. Loved the look of this bag, and the price, but nowhere online could I find a realistic picture of the interior only top-down pictures showing it stuffed full of gear, or small pictures of a full, open bag taken from a distance. Based on some comments (which may have been on some other website) about the "wonderful organization" of the interior, I ordered the grey.

Well, this is a nice-quality bag. The seatbelt strap that attaches with leash clips I always consider to be a rather cheap look, but I'd planned to sew a strap to replace that. However, where this bag really fell down (for me) was that the main compartment has NO organization. Under the flap there is an organization panel, with pen slots and a zipper pocket, that kind of thing (very much like Rickshaw Bags' "Large Deluxe Drop Pocket"). Inside the main compartment was actually a little tote bag, made to fill in the interior, with short tote handles and pockets all over the outside of it, made with the same fabric as the exterior of the main bag. But once you remove this little tote, the main compartment is completely empty. I did realize the tote was included what I'd not realized (due to lack of accurate photos online) was that this tote provides the sole interior organization.

In short, nice-quality bag, a little rustic around the strap area, but useless interior. I don't need or want the weight of a second tote inside a bag I choose to carry. It's back to real handbags for me.

I just received this product in the mail, and even though I haven't used it yet, it seems like it will fit my every need. Was very impressed with the quality of the materials used, and all the features that it included. I wanted a nicer-looking diaper bag that was a larger size, as I am a professional working woman, and I believe I got it!

Sugar Booger Feeding Collection Jumbo Floor Mat

Sugar Booger 'Numbers' Feeding Collection Jumbo Floor MatIf you're trying to decide the one made by mimi the sardine or this one made by sugar booger, I would highly recommend this one. The mimi one is too thin while this one is substantial. The mimi one is rectangular while this one is square, but they are essentially the same size. The mimi one probably only gets sold because buying online, you can't really see what it will look like. It looks like someone just cut a piece of fabric with no finished edging. This one by sugar booger has a finished edging and is heavy enough that it will not roll. I wish someone had compared the two for me so that I would not have wasted money on the mimi one. This one by sugar booger is totally worth it.

The mat is super cute and has a good weight so it doesn't move around much on its own. We have wood floors in our kitchen (I know, weird!), so we wanted this to protect the floors from our food-flinging toddler.

The care instructions say you can wash it in a washing machine and hang to dry, but DON'T do it! The coating and the cloth backing have separated in places all over the mat, so the coating appears to be all bubbly, and it looks really cheap. The mat won't lay flat anymore, and has a tendency to curl along the edges. I was hoping this would be with us for years and we'd use it under a craft table down the road, but I doubt it will last that long.

It's also not especially "jumbo."

Buy Sugar Booger Feeding Collection Jumbo Floor Mat Now

Upon ordering I knew this would take a few months before I would get it but because I was at the point of having to replace the generic splat mat (the kind you find at the baby are us store) for the 3rd time I was willing to wait and invest a little more money into something thicker, durable, washable and overall nicer.

The mat arrived much sooner than promised and it's 100 times better quality than the generic mats. Since it's not thin and massive in size I can easily take a disinfectant wipe to the mat and clean it off quickly without having to deal with the wrinkles and static of the thinner mats. We've taken this to my in law's house where we were able to clean up after my daughter super quick and without any guilt of avocado stains on the rug. (bonus) I've also used this as a drawing mat while at my IL's and again the fact that it keeps my daughter busy and their carpets clean makes this the best product E.V.E.R.!!!

The travel bag is also really handy and a total bonus to an already great product. I love the colors and the pattern to the ladybug mat, it blends nicely under the highchair without making our kitchen look like a daycare. :)

I recently purchased my second jumbo floor mat by Sugar Booger. My first one was a baby shower gift and I loved it. The quality was amazing and it was used daily under our kids table. After a few years, it needed to be replaced from so much wear and tear. I was excited to get my new mat, and had always highly recommended this product to moms. I was sooo disappointed to see that the quality had decreased on this item. It is a much thinner material that is just awful under our kids table. It is always bunching up and just isn't of the quality as our first mat from several years ago. I wish I could return this!! I hope Sugar Booger rethinks this new CHEAPER design. It is not an item I would recommend. Please bring back the old QUALITY design you used to make.

Mat is cool, well designed and functional super cute graphics that my son loved, but it seemed toxic-y and I couldn't seem to find what it was made of of the package or outer tag. So I emailed the company, asking if it was PVC and wanted to know about the fabric. They said it was "non toxic" and "lead free" according to US and Canada standards. She didn't mention PVC specifically so assumed was fine. Only today I noticed a smaller tag, listing that it is in fact 18% PVC. Company really isn't transparent about this and while some parents might not mind the PVC content, I certainly prefer to avoid PVC for obvious reasons.

ELECARE VANILLA POWDER AMINO ACID-BASED MEDICAL FOOD 14.1OZ (PACK OF 6)

ELECARE VANILLA POWDER AMINO ACID-BASED MEDICAL FOOD 14.1OZVery pleased with this purchase. Formula came as described, and well before expiration date. The cans were in great condition. My son needs this formula since he is allergic to dairy and soy.

I tried the gfcf diet with my autistic 3yr son who has various sensory issues and food sensitivities/allergies which really limit his diet. We tried it for six months. At the end of these six months he was diagnosed with failure to thrive. The ped gastro put him on this milk and in 8weeks he gained all the weight he needed to gain without any tummy discomforts. It tastes like a vanilla milkshake. He absolutely loves the taste even though he is the pickiest child we have ever met, only eating about 10 different food items. I highly recommend it.

Btw, the casein and soy free diet helped him a lot specially with reducing stimming but we saw no difference with the gluten.

Honest Kids Good Grape Kids Drink ( 4x8/6.75OZ)

Honest Kids Good Grape Kids DrinkWe eat healthy. That means my kids drink very little juice and zero soda. By very little I mean I never buy it, they might have some at a friend's house or a party or something. Generally they drink only milk or water. But that means they feel left out when the other kids have sugar-filled juice boxes or caprisuns. Enter Honest Kids! Yes, they have sugar in them, that's what I like. Go look at a box of 'Roaring waters' that has artificial sweeteners (and sugar too, something I never could quite figure out). I would rather my children had a small amount of real sugar than artificial sweeteners. Since they are used to drinking only water otherwise, they like these, they don't complain they taste watered down. In fact if you compare these to a typical CapriSun, its kind of like the difference between a Vitamin Water and Gatorade. When you are used to Vitamin water, (original) Gatorade is going to taste sickly sweet, if you are used to Gatorade, Vitamin water is going to taste like water with slight flavor. Ask yourself which you want your children to be used to?

I've seen other reviewers complain that they are hard to open or messy my 6 and 8 year olds have no problems with them. They put the straw in themselves and don't have a problem spilling them.

Now they don't feel left out when everyone else has a juice box, and I feel good about the amount of sugar they are taking in. At only 40 calories and no artificial sweeteners, this is exactly what I've been looking for!

Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat

Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat, Blue/Green/GrayI have made some unbelievably moronic choices when it comes to baby gear. This was definately not one of them!

I had originally wanted to just go with an infant to toddler feeding station set up, but then I saw and purchased a Peg Pergeo Prima Pappa out of the PennySaver. Oooooh, Peg Perego... Had to have it...

I hated hated hated HATED that chair. It was huge. The tray was too high. It had a zillion and one little nooks and crannies to get food into. I ended up shoving it back and forth between the kitchen and the laundry room for months. Once my baby really got into eating solids (which he didn't do until 7 months) I fed him in his bouncy, on the floor. I just didn't want to deal with cleaning that high chair. Even once he got to be a better (neater) eater, the space issues drove me bananas.

I sold it at a loss and bought the Fisher Price booster seat instead.

I love love love LOVE this little chair.

First of all, it goes on our dining room chair so it takes up no additional space. My baby fits in it very comfortably it is just his size. I can put Cheerios on the tray for him and he can pick them up and eat them (although it does seem he drops and sits in them about half the time, too...) No nooks and crannies so clean up is easy. We can easily pack it up and take it to a resturaunt and he is so happy to sit in his little seat, smack the tray, play with his toys, eat his Cheerios we are able to eat out in public again. I never thought I would be a germophobic parent but I do appreciate being able to take our own seat along from a cleanliness aspect, too. This chair is inexpensive enough that if you are lazy, or just like to be prepared, you could even buy two and always keep one in the trunk of your car for going out.

I don't really see the point in having the tray insert the tray is so easy to wipe down but, who knows. Maybe it will come in handy some time.

I do have some concerns about this chair really suiting a child from infant to toddler. It does not recline, as some of the other boosters do. However, in my experience, my child really was not ready to eat until he was able to sit up right. I think that a lot of people force solids onto children too soon, partly in hopes of getting their kid to sleep through the night sooner, partly out of deference to grandparents. You can always feed your baby in his bouncy, if he needs a reclining feeding seat.

It does seem a little small to fit a toddler into, but once the tray is removed and it is used as just a booster seat, it will probably be fine. I really like that your child can get so close to the table using this little seat.

Thumbs up, way way up, for this little seat. I plan to buy two more as baby gifts for my brother and cousin who are expecting babies in October (not with each other).

--Update--

I had twins last year and we needed a second booster. I wanted to get the same one and we went to TRU to get one but they only had the yellow and orange one. I did notice it didn't have the extra tray, but I also noticed it cost less. Since the extra tray was kind of useless anyway, I didn't mind much. So we got the yellow and orange one and took it home and then I realized the height doesn't adjust like it does for the green and blue one. Arg, I thought. Then I thought, does it really matter?? The yellow and orange one is at the same height as the blue and green one when it is in the 2nd/middle position. So I just put the blue/green one in the second position, set the chairs up next to each other, and let the girls eat. Works just fine. I was a little miffed at the cutting out of features but it's nice that the price is lower and really these features aren't needed. I'd assumed the blue/green one was d/c'ed when I only saw the yellow but I guess that's not the case. So blue and green, or yellow and orange they're both good.

I originally bought the "Swing Tray Portable Booster Seat" because it was cheaper and I thought that it would be just as good. Well, it fell apart. I got this one and have been very please. It's is like a travel version of the Healthy Care Highchair.

There is a removeable feeding tray that can be put in the dishwasher. It has a cup holder and snaps right on to the main (blue) tray.

There are three different height settings. This is great for traveling because different tables can be different heights.

The back of the car and the trays are removeable, turning the seat into a booster for older and/or larger children.

The seat is all one piece and there are no seams or crevices for food to get stuck in. It also makes the seat very easy to clean.

The seat has a three-point seatbelt that adjusts, so it can accomodate a growing baby and toddler.

The booster folds up and even has a shoulder strap to make it easier to travel with. There is a lid that snaps onto the feeding tray. It is also dishwasher safe. I like the cover you can put on the tray, just so you know it's not getting dirty.

There are straps on both sides and on the back of the seat. This makes it much easier to fit onto a variety of chairs. This is great especially when eating out.

2013 UPDATE: I changed my 1 star review to 5 stars. Hopefully this will be more helpful to people. I'm not going to edit any of my original review below. It seems like they've sorted out the issue with the similar types of seats. The awesome, adjustable version is the Healthy Care DELUXE! We loved it. As I'm typing this, this review appears under the listing for the Deluxe, and all the versions shown in the pictured options are height adjustable and show the snap-in tray and tray cover. This wasn't the case previously, so just check the options before you buy!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Amazon should not be sharing the reviews for the old blue booster with the new yellow & orange one. The blue one gets 5 stars from me; it was perfect. We had to replace it so I bought the new yellow one.

The yellow one DOES NOT ADJUST up or down for height. My son's legs no longer fit under our table because we can't adjust it down far enough like we could with the blue one.

In addition, the yellow one comes with only the main one-piece white tray. The blue booster comes with a main blue tray, a white snap-in tray with a molded cup space, and a green tray cover. It's perfect for travel. The yellow and orange booster DOES NOT have these extra pieces.

I'm totally irritated that I was led to believe that this was the same booster, simply with a different color scheme.

2009 UPDATE: As of mid-2009, the names seem to be sorted out. The booster called "Fisher Price Healthy Care Booster Seat" (currently still in yellow), is a stripped down, non-adjustable model. It really has no advantages other than price, maybe (depends on the day!). It's not more portable even though it's smaller. The better seat, with adjustability, extra trays, etc. is now called the Fisher Price Healthy Care DELUXE Booster Seat, and appears to come in two colors at the moment. The Deluxe gets 5 stars!

We love this Booster Seat. It's reasonably priced and has every feature that parents in the real world demand.

The good:

1) It travels well, as it can be completely folded in and it's straps used to carry it over a shoulder like a pack.

2) It can be set at 3 different heights for different tables and for your growing toddler.

3) It straps on securely and most importantly QUICKLY!

4) All straps adjust, both to the chair and to your child.

5) It doesn't have any cloth or nasty nooks that are hard to clean... Just a quick wipedown is all that's usually necessary.

6) Has a detachable tray with a food tray that comes with a cover. So you can play with playdough for 5 minutes before dinner on the main tray, and then break out your covered dinner when you are ready! Very convenient and sturdy.

7) Solid construction. Our VERY strong 2 year old can't get out of it or break parts off.

8) The straps will come off (with a little work) so they can be tossed in a washer

9) The food tray is dishwasher safe

10) It will grow with you as a booster seat even if you don't use it as a stand alone "high" chair.

I can't think of anything bad about it and that's saying something in the parenting world. Buy it and never look back. In fact, we just put in an order for our second one so we can leave one in the car so we are never without. It's simply fantastic. Our little one has started requesting this seat instead of his (soon to be retired) high chair. He loves eating dinner at the same table with his Mom and Dad.

I bought this because, after two children and two big highchairs, I realized that I rarely used the highchair anyway, so what was the point of having this huge thing taking up half the space in my kitchen? I almost bought the fisher price healthy care high chair, when I saw this at the store. I figured that if I didnt like it, I could always use it for trips to grandmas house. Well, I LOVE it!! It stays on our chair VERY securely, the dishwasher safe tray(s) are great, and I can fold down the seat so that you dont even see it under the table! I put both trays on the bottom rack of my dishwasher with no problems (our water doesnt get to a burning point like some though). It is soooo easy to wipe up after she eats. I also got one of those temperpedic pillow things and cut it down so that it fits on the seat and then made a cover for it out of PUL (water proof but soft). She didnt really seem uncomfortable but I like my babies comfy! I dont think I will even buy a new high chair when the next one comes! I would recommend this to anyone. Oh and my 4 year old DS fits in it perfectly too!

Munchkin Snack Catcher, 4 Pack

Munchkin Snack Catcher, 4 Pack - Purple / GreenThe lid comes off very easily when my now 18 month old is pulling his hand out after retrieving a snack from the cup. He can also pull the lid off easily-which he has done a number of times recently. So the snack ends up all over the car seats and floor. Defeats the purpose. The concept is great, but If only they made this with a screw top, it would be better. The Playtex Flip Top Snacker with Twist 'N Click is a much better alternative. The Playtex version has a screw lid so you don't have to worry about it coming off and spilling food all over the place.

Gerber Good Start Gentle, Ready to Feed, 3 Ounce Nurser Glass Bottles, 8-Count (Pack of 6)

Gerber Good Start Gentle, Ready to Feed, 3 Ounce Nurser Glass Bottles, 8-CountWe switched to Good Start Gentle Plus from Similac Advanced due to serious gas and fussiness issues. This size bottle is perfect for the newborn that doesn't consume much formula and to avoid wasting formula since it goes bad after an hour of being opened. Plus I like that these are glass containers as opposed to plastic for environmental and health reasons. I do wish they had the powder on the go option like Similac and Enfamil, but I won't use another formula as this one works well for my daughter.

The delivery was very fast. I received the product within 2 days. The ready to feed bottles are perfect for the diaper bag, and besides my baby does very well on Gerber good start.

We switched from Similac to the gentle and what a change in my infants disposition! No more colic -like crying or tummy pain...she is such a happy baby after we made the switch. You can order this same product offered on Amazon at Babies R Us for 8.99, I am sure the 88.00 must be a typo!

Great, fast service. Perfect for travelling and I don't have to worry about any plastic chemicals. My only complaint is that they don't come in other sizes, since baby is eating 4-5oz now. But I'm just sure to have two on hand. It is no sweat to switch a nipple. I will be purchasing this again.

Charlie Banana 10 Reusable Organic Cotton Wipes

Charlie Banana 10 Reusable Organic Cotton WipesThese wipes are SO soft and gentle for diaper changes on our newborn baby boy. Superior to any terry cloth washcloths which are usually rough on at least one side. These are super soft on both sides and have held up well to daily washings. I am tempted to buy a bunch more and use only these for diaper changes. Can't recommend enough!

I love these organic wipes! You can't beat the price, about a dollar a piece. I ordered some of the double sided wipes from Charlie Banana, and even though they are thicker, they are made of one side organic cotton, one side 100% polyester :S... These are just one piece of organic cotton with a hem.. A little thinner, but so soft and will get the job done. Definitely recommend!

We have ordered many packs of these. They have been great for our cloth diapered kids for over 2 years now. A few have gotten holes in them from being laundered multiple times a week, but any thin material will eventually wear down. Overall, these have been a great buy.

I love these! I bought them for cleaning my face and apply product as I hate the idea of using cotton balls and just throwing them away. These are soft on my skin and are the perfect size.

The only issue I have with these is that the tags are HUGEotherwise they are working just fine. They're much, much softer than disposable wipes and they even fit in my OXO refillable wipe dispenser.

Colic-Calm Homeopathic Gripe Water, 2 Fluid Ounce

Colic-Calm Homeopathic Gripe Water, 2 Fluid OunceWhen i started to realize that the constant crying and sleepless nights with my newborn and first born was not normal i talked to our pediatrician who started treating him for acid reflux (GER). After fighting with our insurance to cover the prescription for Previcid in the first place, the struggle then became trying to get the medicine down. I already had a baby who was not eating/gaining weight and there i was giving him syringe after syringe of water trying to get the "not so soluble" tablet in his system. the whole experience was leaving me uber stressed and feeling like an exhausted failure. I came across the website for colic calm while looking for homeopathic treatments touting to provide acid reflux relief as well as colic. honestly i am not big on the idea of giving my kid something that our pediatrician had not even heard of but with the FDA stamp on it i felt somewhat better about trying it. At first i wouldnt say i was all that convinced but by the end of the week he was sleeping and eating like never before. suddenly the crying seemed managable like i had expected going into parenthood and the fact he was really eating for the first time made me feel a lot better about myself too. my husband was not so sold on giving the credit to the colic calm until we ran out and the delivery from amazon was delayed. 24 hours after his last dose and we were back to being up all night with a screaming baby.

couple things to note from what i read in other reviews. first i was prepared for the staining everyone complained about but really havent had a big problem with it. yes is is messy, and if you drip it directly on something and just leave ityes when you wash the item you will get a faint gray stain but even that is hardly noticable. most of the time even his white onsies dont show a stain. i have yet to see it stain skin. usually i will feed him after ward to wash it out of his mouth. otherwise the charcaol shows up in his drool for a bit.

poop is a hideous color with distinctive specks of charcoal but dont let it alarm you, 24 hours off it and poop goes right back to normal.

use the syringe that comes in the box. give a little bit at a time (takes me about 5 squirts to give him the 1/4 tsp dose) and choking is not an issue. i also point it toward his cheek so that it doesnt just go down his throat gagging him. When i tried an eye dropper type dispenser he gagged it all back out. Now he really doesnt mind getting his dose and even smiles through it.

at this point i am no longer giving him the prevacid and using only about 2 doses a daysometimes more if he gets the hiccups (which go away instantly when you give the colic calm) or he is fussy. one bottle last about 3 weeks.

This product has really seemed to help my 5 week old daughter. She was born fussy but became even more so at about 2 weeks old. I wouldn't say she truly has colic but she never seems satisfied and she does gets extremely fussy in the evenings. She has severe gas and gets the hiccups almost every bottle...those send her over the edge. It does offer immeidate relief of her hiccups.

Sometimes Colic Calm seems to help and sometimes it doesn't. I think when she is truly uncomfortable; it does help. Times that it doesn't help, I think it just may be her personality to be fussy.

One day I ate some leftovers from a resturant and got the worst stomachache so I decided to try some and I had almost immediate relief. I was sold after that. It has a great taste but the color is pretty freaky.

I think this is a good product and I just ordered my second bottle. This is the only FDA approved gripe water, which made me feel more comfortable giving it to her. When I read the ingredients on some of the other gripe waters, I noticed some that aren't exactly safe for babies.

Some of its drawbacks are that it is a terrible color and turns their poop funny colors an stains clothes but being able to relieve some of my baby's discomfort is well worth it.

I used this product for a few days on the recommendation of a friend that swore by it with her children. I also searched the product reviews on Amazon before I purchased it and tried to find all ingredients but couldnt until I got the box. I failed to check each one then because I wanted to relieve the symptoms right away. I have a five week old son that has a touch of colic and it did help with colic symptoms but I did notice that he vomited alot more with this product, slept all day and then all through the night. That's when I became concerned and I decided to check each ingredient and found that "Melissa Officinalis" is sometimes used as a mild sedative. It does state on the box that "sleep may follow naturally after relief". It is a natural ingredient but who wants to give their child a sedative? I suppose if the colic is extreme and you need your child to sleep so that you can sleep also, then this may be the product for you. Otherwise, I would rather have my child awake, alert and just deal with his symptoms as opposed to having him under a sedative. I wrote this review for other parents to be cautious of this. Good luck to all who have to deal with the colic issue!

I have always been a big proponent of natural medicine before chemical meds. I remember briefly reading about Colic Calm online and upon seeing it in CVS, I purchased it promptly, after reading the ingredients of course. It works incredibly great for my daughter and here are just a few super positives about this product:

1) First and foremost--it cures my daughter's reflux and gassiness/fussiness in less than 20 minutes flat each time it is used! My 1 month old daugher developed a bad case of fussiness/crying episodes as well as reflux, which prevented her from breastfeeding succesfully every night. Once Colic Calm was administered, she stops crying right away and is completely better within 20 minutes. You can set a watch on how accuratly and quickly it works! On couple of more severe case occasions, two doses needed to be administered within 30 minutes, as stated in instructions in order for maximum effectiveness, but worked momentarily after the 2nd dose for the remainder of the night and next day. It does help her reflux and she can feed great right after dosage administration. Even more importantly, it LASTS FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS AFTER THE DOSAGE--MEANING NO FUSSINESS/BETTER REFLUX SYMPTOMS/NO GASSINESS FOR 1 TO 2 DAYS AFTER EACH DOSAGE ADMINISTRATION! Also, it makes my daughter's bowel movements more regular--she has been slightly constipated, but after taking Colic Calm, she is good to go, which makes her tummy feel better and eases her discomfort and fusiness in itself!

2) Ingredients are great.

Being of European descent, I am extremely familiar with activated charcoal as a remedy for stomach upset and flatulance, thus I was not surprised that it was in this remedy and, in fact, that was an encouraging fact as I found it to be very helpful as a child growing up in Europe. It works just as great in Colic Calm, in my experience. Yes, it may stain, but would you choose your child feeling better over a stain? I know I would. Furthermore, just putting a bib on a child right before dosage administration helps to prevent staining on clothing. Simple! As for the black color--hey, natural substances have natural coloring--no artificial coloring here, just the way I like it!

Camomile--there are no known indications that this plant is highly allergenic. My whole extended family suffers from severe food allergies, and I have never encountered a camomile allergy, not to say that it doesn't exist, but it is very rare. What is known of chamomile, however, is its effectiveness as a calming herb, and it does just that in Colic Calm--calms the fussiness rather effectively.

Aloe--the wonder plant that helps a variety of stomach remedies as well as making the bowels more regular--very effective ingredient once again.

Melissa--true, it makes the baby more prone to sleepiness, but even more importantly, it makes the baby relaxed and able to fall asleep after an especially fussy episode...why this is bad is beyond me...any parent wishes for their child to sleep well. Also, this is not a drug, it is a homeopathic remedy, which is not the same as being drugged by a mainstream night aid--homeopathic remedies use the like cures like principle and only use a tiny miniscule particle of each remedy in the solution, unlike the chemically produced sleep aids...not even comparable. There are no side effects here either and does not make the baby drowsy, just relaxes the poor little thing so that she can sleep more soundly and not be bothered by reflux/gas/overstimulation etc. An A+ remedy in my book. Parents get more sleep too!

Tastes good, slightly sweet, just enough to entire the baby. My daughter loves the taste. The consistency is thick, which is great as it is not easy to spit up and goes down easier, instead of just sitting in the baby's mouth for a while.

Feces are discolored by it, but not that bad. Don't expect to see an all black stool, unless you give this each day, every day for multiple doses. Otherwise, it is just some specks of black in the stool, not that big of a deal. Since baby becomes more regular on this remedy, you will see more poop, though. One negative is that stool does smell more after multiple dosing given, but, once again, a very mild negative compared to all of the positives!

Now that my daughter is 10 weeks, after many weeks of giving her Colic Calm (since week 2, pretty much), I believe that Colic Calm contributed in a large part to her not having colic anymore and being able to be more regular, less gassy and fussy. Her reflux is also a lot better.

Overall, I highly recommend this magical potion. It works like a charm with no real side effects and makes for a happy baby and even happier parents :)

Happy Bellies Organic Baby Cereals with DHA + Pre & Probiotics, 7 Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6)

Happy Bellies Organic Baby Cereals with DHA Plus Pre and Probiotics, Oatmeal, 7-Ounce CanistersI am a new mom, and have heard amazing things about HappyBaby's Oatmeal. So, when I got on Amazon to purchase some I was surprised/concerned to see some of the negative reviews about off-coloring and bad smells. I wrote to the company to inquire about the issues people were mentioning, and I got a very good response, almost immediately, from the company. The Director of QA said that the problem was limited to one batch of oatmeal only and is no longer a problem. I thought other parents shopping on Amazon might find his response helpful:

"...this is not a food safety issue, so there's no need to worry. It is, however, an "off product" quality issue, and is caused by oxidation of the oils in the grain (oxidative rancidity), usually by the nitrogen flush we put into the can leaking out due to abuse, improper seaming, etc. The reaction (with oxygen) is a lot like leaving a peeled banana on the table too long...yucky, but not dangerous, so your child is not in any danger. The black flecks are oxidized pieces of the cereal bran, which are usually colourless.

Our June production lot was particularly susceptible to this, so we did two things. First, we strengthened the antioxidant portion of the formula (mixed tocopherols), and the problem literally went away. Secondly, we reached out to our warehouses and store shelves, and replaced as much of the June production lot as we could. However, given the size and complexity of the supply chain, it's nearly impossible to get a 100% catch here, so invariably, some cases stayed around. "

This response really impressed me and made me feel much more confident about purchasing HappyBaby products in the future. They acted quickly, and responded thoroughly and honestly to the issue. They truly seem committed to their mission of supplying customers with the highest quality ingredients...and customer service! I will for sure be buying more HappyBaby products in the future.

This was the first solid food I fed my then 4-month old baby and from the first time, he loved it. I initially mixed it with breast milk (1 tsp cereal and 4 tsp of breast milk for the first feeding, then less liquid to make it less messy to feed) but now, I mix it with some hot water or other food (vegetable or fruit purees). Whenever I introduce a new vegetable that I suspect my son might not like right away, I mix 1 tbsp or more of rice cereal and it usually works like a charm. Zucchini puree by itself = spit up. Zucchini puree mixed in with HappyBellies rice cereal = happy baby.

Granted that I haven't tried other brands, except for the Gerber Barley cereal, the line of HappyBellies cereals has been fantastic for us. My son loves it and he's never had any stomach problems since he's on it.

The empty containers can be recycled, or used as toys for your baby. I usually but a few (unbreakable) items inside. My son loves shaking it and playing drums on it.

I also love the convenience of Amazon shopping, especially since this brand can be sometime hard to find in stores.

Parents, before buying this stuff, do quick Google search for The Cornucopia Institute's report entitled "Replacing Mother Imitating Human Breast Milk in the Laboratory" or follow this link:

This Happy Bellies rice cereal contains Martek Corporation's laboratory-produced oils containing DHA and ARA. As we all know by now, DHA and ARA are considered important nutrients for rapidly developing infants. But laboratory-produced DHASCO and ARASCO (Martek's names for their proprietary oils) are materially different from the fats found in a mother's breast milk. Martek's products are extracted from fermented algae and fungus, with the use of the synthetic solvent hexane, a neurotoxic chemical. They contain only 40 to 50% DHA and ARA, with the balance being sunflower oil, diglycerides, and nonsaponifiable materials.

These components are not found in human breast milk, and the triglycerides carrying DHA and ARA are not identical to

those found in human breast milk, and have never been part of the diet for human infants. Most frighteningly, neurotoxic chemicals -which are NOT organic in any way -are used to manufacture these oils. These oils are not organic, are not regulated or approved by the USDA or FDA, and are added in violation of federal organic regulation.

The authors of the report investigated how a toxic chemical is used as processing agents in the manufacturing process, the inadequate testing for safety, and most importantly, how some infants are experiencing serious adverse reactions from consuming formula and foods supplemented with these oils.

"This report presents a disturbing look at the addition of novel ingredients into infant formula," says Marsha Walker, Executive Director of the National Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy. "The FDA has received scores of reports on the adverse effects of these ingredients, but, to date, the public's only access to these is through Cornucopia's Freedom of Information Act request. This report will help alert the health care community and federal agencies to some of the adverse effects of added DHA and ARA in infant formulas."

The full report can be viewed on The Cornucopia Institute's web page.

I love that these products are gluten free. My first child got a terrible rash on her face from her "first cereals" and it was hard to find out what was causing it. The baby cereals that are out there "may contain traces of wheat" while they are supposed to be the best first food. Not true fir those with gluten and wheat sensitivities and/or allergies. Way to go Happy Baby.

This is the first cereal my 6 month old has been given and he really LOVES it. I drove my self crazy doing all kinds of research for a safe, BPA free cereal, then drove myself crazy looking at all the research on DHA, and so on. Finally I decided to go ahead and give this a try. Unfortunately there is no perfect baby cereal on the market at this time, but this product is pretty close. And my baby seems to really enjoy it. I will say my local target is currently selling it for only $3.19 a can, which is a little cheaper than amazons current price.
