This system is the best for making fresh baby food at home!

The book uses chapters to show you which foods to introduce at the appropriate ages. The first chapter is first foods, and features easily-digestible foods like acorn squash and pears. As the book progresses with the baby's age, the food variety increases to include things like asparagus and black beans. The final chapters introduce berries and nuts for babies over 12 months. There is no meat in the system, but they do have tofu.

The book tells you exactly how many of a fruit or veggie to buy, what to look for in selecting fresh produce, and step-by-step instructions on how to clean, peel, cook and puree the food for your baby. It is an excellent guide, even for the novice shopper/food preparer. It doesn't miss a step!

They also make suggestions on which spices can be added to the food while cooking for flavor variety. For instance, they tell you how much cinnamon to add to your cooking apples to get delicious cinnamon applesauce. This makes for delicious taste-tempters like vanilla pears and ginger yams that babies can't resist!

To add even more variety to your baby's diet, the book suggests "medleys" which are combinations of foods that go well together. Once you have introduced both foods separately, you can create a medley for an interesting variation.

1 Save money! Buying fresh produce in season and making your own baby food from it is sooooo much cheaper than buying all of those little jars.

2 Baby is healthier! Commercial jarred baby foods contain fillers that have no nutritional value. They also can contain pesticides and preservatives. I don't want my baby eating any of that!

3 Food tastes better! Have you ever tried jarred baby food? Blech! It doesn't taste anything like the food it's supposed to be! No wonder baby spits it out I would too. The pureed foods from this system are fresh and tasty, and baby will love them. An excerpt from the front of the book: "Did you know that baby food could be up to three years old when you buy it on the grocery store shelf?" Sorry, but I don't want my baby eating anything older than him.

I adored this system when my son started eating solid food, and I still use it today to create healthy fresh side dishes for him and the rest of the family. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to make their own baby food it's the best!

I like the layout of the book and the suggestions of combining different food together and what age is appropriate for the combination. The green tabs that divided the age sections are also very helpful.

This book only shows how to cook food using a microwave and nothing else. That's why I gave a 4 stars. The trays are easy to use and easy to pop the cubes out. The note that comes with the trays suggests that the trays to be washed by hands and not by the dishwasher to avoid warping. I've been washing them by hands and don't see any warping at this point.

I also purchased "The Petit Appetit Cookbook: Easy, Organic Recipes to Nurture Your Baby and Toddler" by Lisa Barnes. This one has instructions for steaming, or using a microwave, or sometimes using the ovens. I like the ideas of have alternatives.

This kit is a great way for Moms and Dads to make their own baby food. The video is a tad cheesy and not totally necessary but the Cworkbook (tad cheesy name for the book) is great. The "recipes" tell you how to pick out the best produce (feel, look) and also how to ripen and store the produce. A lot of this info has been helpful for my own use!

The book sort of downplays the benefits of organic produce but it makes some good points. As a Mom of an allergenic child, it would have been nice to have info on what produce is higher on the 'allergenic scale' than others. I also would have liked to see some info on how to pick and prepare meats for those who choose to give their children meat.

The trays are excellent, the recipes are great and also the notes on what spices you can add after 8 months and 12 months is great.

I highly recommend this. I think I might buy a couple more trays!

This is an excellent kit. I bought one for myself and was able to make baby food while working full time and being pregnant. These are awesome!

I make big batches of baby food, freeze them in these containers, and they last for weeks in the freezer.

To thaw, I just either take them out & put on the counter, or in the fridge the night before, and/or place them in hot water.

These saved us so much money, because we were able to make all of our own baby food-great product.

FYI: when filling them-leave a little room at the top, so that the food can expand in the freezer.

When empty, they tip over when you open the lid to fill them unless they are sitting in the baby cube tray, otherwise a good product.

That said, we used them very little, because it is easier and healthier to feed him fresh fruits, and freshly cooked veggies when we eat dinner.

Chewing on a pear, banana, apple slice, etc really helps him with his teething too, especially since he does not like pacifiers or teething rings.

We just started giving our 7 month old baby boy this cereal and he LOVES it. I mix formula with it and it is sweet but not overpowering. This cereal is also nutritionally dense as is required for babies this young. Just a note, you can get this much cheaper at your local Walmart than at Amazon. It is $3.12 at Walmart and even with taxes 6 cans of this will come out to be less than $20 (compared to $26.60 at Amazon)

Nestum is a wholesome cereal for infants or growing children, as well as adults with eating challenges. It is not too sugary

I think this is my favorite Nestum as far as the taste and the different type of grains that make up this cereal. Most of all my baby loves it. Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bottles

We bought these bottles to use with our Medela PIS and Ameda Purley Yours Breast Pumps, yes, we bought both. We chose to use these bottles since the Medela 5 oz bottles cost a bit more, and the Ameda bottles are not BPA free. The Lansinoh bottles work great with both brands! The only thing I don't like is that the caps are two piece caps and the Medela Bottles have the solid one piece lids. I just use my 80ml Medela bottle lids with these since we are no longer using them anyway, and they work great and there are no pieces to loose. You can put any standard bottle nipple ring on the bottles so you don't have to change bottles if you don't want too, and you can just throw some nipples and rings already put togehter in a zip bag and throw them in your diaper bag for later. You can also find the Lansinoh storage bottles here on amazon in the 8 and 12 pks!! Hope this helps.

When I ordered these, I chose this listing because it showed the tapered bottles, like the ones that come with the Lansinoh Manual Breast Pump. The ones I received are the straight-sided ones. They still work with my pump, but don't snap into the stabilizing base to keep the pump from tipping over when set down. Darn. Otherwise, fine, but I like the rubber (or rubber-like) caps that fit into the rings and came with my pump better than the ones that came with these too (they snap in). Better for one-handed bottle assembling.

I really like these storage bottles. They seal great, and keep my breastmilk fresh. I just wish they came more then 4 in a box. I would recommed these. Keep in mind they are only 5 oz bottles so they will only last a fews month, since baby will eat more then a 5 oz bottle.

Little Tikes Count 'n Play Cash Register

I've been looking for a cash register for my almost 2 year old daughter for a while, partially because I loved playing with them as a kid too. I went with this one since ToysRUs always seemed to be sold out of the one I liked. I was concerned about some of the coins being choking hazards mentioned in another review. My daughter usually doesn't put things in her mouth but after a few weeks of having this toy I did see her putting the small ones in her mouth so aside from having to watch her carefully when playing with this, the toy fits our needs for now. Some of the plastic doesn't seem very sturdy and my daughter hasn't dropped it yet but overall the toy has held up. Is it a perfect toy? No but is it the worst? Definitely not.

We like this toy. It works and is non-electronic. We like that it doesn't talk or play music. Not everything in the house needs to do that. It is a little hard at first if you have bought it a little early for them to be able to grasp the concept of sliding the credit card. They may need a little help. And putting the coins in flat is also a little difficult and that you have to slide the card, then pull the handle. Little ones may not understand the order. We may like this more when she is a little older but right now she just gets mad if she cant get it to work. We don't regret the purchase though. Just when we purchased it.

Personal Fit Breast Shields

I wanted to share my experience to help others decide if they should try a smaller breast shield. I have very prominent nipples/areolae (i.e. my areola is not flat on the breast but protrudes along with the nipple). Despite reading all the websites out there on proper fit, I had a hard time trying to figure out which part of my nipple/areolae was supposed to be in the tunnel. I experienced a lot of pain and bruising with the standard 24mm shields. Two different lactation consultants told me to go up to 30mm. The 30mm incorporated my entire nipple/areola and was even getting some regular breast tissue while pumping. Although the 30mm didn't hurt as much, it definitely was not comfortable--the discomfort was to the point where I worried that I was damaging my areola tissue because it was swelling so much afterwards. I also wasn't getting as much milk as I did with the 24mm. After looking at a lot of pictures of normal breast anatomy, I figured out that my nipple was not the whole protruding pigmented part of my breast, but just the tip (before it widens out into areola). I decided to go ahead and order these and I am so glad I did. Pumping doesn't hurt at all anymore--it is much more comfortable, almost to the point where I don't really notice it (compared to the other sizes, where I felt every single suction). My nipple fits into the tunnel without touching the sides and only a little bit of the areola goes in while pumping. If you are still not sure whether to get these, just remember that you know your body best and lactation consultants can sometimes be wrong.

Don't be fooledI don't know why Medela sends out the 24mm size shield with their pumps. As I have talked to many women and numerous lactation consultants, it turns out that 24mm is actually "small" and that most women will need the 27mm. I don't have large nipples by any means, but pumping with the 24mm shields left me bleeding within days because I had no idea it was the shields that caused the problem. I noticed the difference immediately after using this larger sizepumping is much more comfortable, it's faster, and I get a better yield. If you have any discomfort with your pump, try changing the shield sizeyou might be amazed! A lactation consultant told me to try them and at first I was hesitant"large" for nipple shields? Think of the 27mm as standard or medium and realize that there are so many 24mm on store shelves because NO ONE BUYS THEM.

Pumping can be mysterious when you first start. Medela pumps come with the standard 24mm flanges, but that size doesn't fit all. Oddly, there's no specific way to tell if that flange is too big (too small is easy to tell). You can pump in front of a lactation consultant for input on size. If there is a lot of space on the sides of the nipple when you begin pumping, if pumping pulls a good portion of the aerola into the flange, and if pumping hurts, then you probably need the smaller size. This 21 mm flange made pumping possible for me.

These breastshields are a great investment for women with larger breasts or nipples. I tried the 24mm breastshields that came with my Medela Freestyle pump and they did not fit at all. So I went to Target to get larger ones and they had the 27mm size, so I got those. Those were better, but still a little too small, so I searched online for these 30mm ones. Once I received these and used them I was elated because it made the pumping much more comfortable and the milk came out much quicker. I would highly recommend these! By the way, I am a D cup while nursing, if that helps anyone get an idea of who these might work for.

When I was using the standard size breastshields that came with the breast pump, my breasts were getting sore. I thought that was just how it was supposed to be. Then a nurse told me to try a larger size and I got these. Now my breasts no longer hurt at all when pumping and my nipples don't get stuck inside. The only thing that is strange to me is that the shape of the cone part seems different that the standard, so it feels a bit large, even though the nipple part fits fine.

Especially for Baby Food Processor

I've used this to make purees for both of my babies! I bought it almost 4 years ago when my oldest was a baby. It worked perfectly and has continued to for my second child as well. Granted, there needs to be enough liquid for the food to puree properly, but that's the case for any food processor ... and making food for babies, the food needs to be a looser consistency anyway. That was never an issue for me.

This is a great ideanot just for babies but we tried to use this for so many things. The problem isthe motor is really weak, and on the large cup, one of the tabs broke off that signal the blad to engageso now it doesn't work. We tried superglue, but that didn't last long.

I would suggest looking into the super blenders like costco has. The ninja or there are many others out there. Vitamix...

I would NOT suggest this item to others. Say many other great options out there.

I received this as a gift and wish I had returned it for store credit, but I hate Babies R Us so much I just decided to deal with it. The blade is upside down, for one thing. The cup has to be at least more than half way full to actually puree the food. Any less than half and the blade just spins all the food to the outside. You can't just push down on the cup once and expect that to be enough. You have to constantly hit the cup so the food moves down and doesn't get stuck at the top (much like a glass ketchup bottle). I am making do with it but I am not even close to being satisfied.

Fisher-Price Friendly First's Classic Carousel

This item is very very cute as you have come to expect from Fisher-Price. The plastic globe surrounding the animals inside is shiny, smooth, and sturdy. The critters inside have appealing expressions as does the little turtle who forms the knob on top.

My 8-month old has had this toy since he was about 3 months, and while it always catches his eye and attracts him, he does wind up losing interest rather quickly. He seems to understand that he is supposed to push down on the turtle/plunger mechanism, but it is SO hard to do! It's hard even for me. The resistance is much too much. And even with help to activate the spinning carousel inside, the bayb doesn't get to see it spin very freely or very long. It's like the whole mechanism is gummed up with something. There are lots better ways to spend your money, I'm afraid.

I was disappointed with this toy. Although it is really cute to look at the carousel doesn't spin that great. It's kind of hard to push and then barely makes a full turn around once. I would recommend shopping around for another toy of this type.

Vital Baby Press 'n' Pop Freezer Pots, Orange, 3 Ounce

I love these pots!!! I bought the 1oz. pots first and I like those a lot better for now, because I like to give my baby a variety in meals.

Anyway, I bought these to freeze my homemade baby food and They really do just pop right out I've had a few that don't but you just run a little warm water over them and wait a few seconds and voila! Quite a few reviews I had read warned others of them shattering if you dropped them right out of the freezer and I was a little concerned about that, but I just dropped one the other day right out of deep freeze and not even a hairline crack Whew! also quite a few people complained about them being hard to open and close another thing I was concerned about because I have long fingers and I've always had trouble with some small things. well, I won't say they are the easiest things to open but they aren't really that hard either and they don't stain!! I've made carrots many times and they still look clear and nice.

The only negative things are:

1stThey are a little over priced not an real big issue because once you get what you need your done. As long as they last FOREVER!

2ndI really wish they had a 2oz. size that would be lovely!

3rdThis is the one that REALLY bothers me I Would like to see them MADE IN THE USA!!! with our own materials!

Other than those things I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Hope this is helpful.

I love that these are 3 ounce and stackable. I pre-make all of my son's baby food, so I have a LOT of freezer pots...1, 2, and 3 ounce. It's nice to have his whole serving in one pot (for now, growing boy).

Being stackable is nice too. I also use other baby food containers, like the plastic ones Gerber uses, but they slide all over the place and don't always stay where I put them.

My only complaint is that I can't put the lids on them right away and throw them in the freezer as soon as I have filled them. If you are putting hot food in there (which I am, since the food is steamed then blended) you HAVE to wait until it has cooled off. If you don't, the lid will pop off due to the rising steam off of the food.

I got these to take food from fridge/freezer on day trips. The 3 oz size was bigger than many of the smaller cubes that are available.

The soft bottom makes it easy to pop out frozen foods yes. However, the top is difficult to seal and open. I've had a few messy bags from not quite sealing it all the way. Ok for freezing foods but I wouldn't use them much for bringing baby's lunch on the road. Still looking for a better solution.

This product is just terrible, small lip on lids offer no "sure" closure. You have to fumble to actually get the lid on snug and risk spilling the food out (which I did!). And when you did the lid on, one corner keep popping up..this happens especially after that first wash and the lid is no longer the same.

Get the OXO's, I did...much better. This is good case when the cheaper wasn't better.

Badger Broad Spectrum SPF 35 All-Season Face Stick, 1 stick,65 oz (18.4 g)

The skin on my face is fairly sensitive, and parts of it occasionally dry out and peel. Not so when I use this stick. It moisturizes my face and offers very good sunburn protection. It feels a little heavy at first, but absorbs very nicely in the time it takes to brush your teeth and hair before you apply any makeup, assuming you want to. I could almost swear that it even improves the tone of my skin. On top of that, the cocoa butter in it makes it smell like white chocolate. Yum!

The size of the tube is perfect for purse or carry-on luggage.

My only complaint is that it is a little difficult to apply around the eyes without pulling on that delicate skin. Still figuring out how to do that.

On the whole, though, I am very happy with this product, and I will definitely want to buy it again when it runs out.

I love badger sunscreen! I have a few different products and all of them have worked well. I just recently switched to natural sunscreen, I'm a multi-sport athlete and spend a great deal of time in the sun. I find that this product gives me great coverage, you do have to rub it in or it leaves white on your skin. But really it's not that difficult and it's much better than all the chemicals that are in regular sunscreen. Plus it smells very yummy, all natural. I also have oily screen and worried this product might make me breakout, but since I started using badger sunscreens my skin actually appears very clear and balanced.

I used California Baby stick for 2+ years, but recently switched after CB had reformulation drama. Comparing the two: Badger has a more 'natural' smell (nutty), but I slightly prefer CB (floral). CB is much whiter when applied, and goes on thicker. I'm surprised how clear Badger is! I use these sticks specifically to protect a black tattoo on my arm, so the whitening factor is important to me, and very easy to judge (like testing deodorant on a black shirt!) Badger seems to absorb into my skin more readily, and is easier to wash off. I have trouble with waxy/greasy residue with CB, always had to use soap to get it off at the end of the day. With badger, I don't even bother washing it off because it's not noticeable! :D

I also feel better about the ingredient list on Badger.

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter. We try to use the more natural sunscreens when we can. It seems to be effective as far as keeping her protected, however, when she gets sweaty it runs and she complains of her eyes burning. Well made dish washer safe looks new after two years this is our third tray would buy again good product

My daughter got this plate as a gift when she was still a toddler in a high chair. She is now 7 years old, and she still enjoys using it. Letting her compartmentalize her foods adds a bit of fun to dinner time, and anything that makes meal times more pleasant is a plus, of course.

The plate is durable, and is dishwasher safe. (I always make a point to put it on the top rack in the dishwasher.) Even after years of use, the colors and design have held up and haven't faded.

Incidentally, this plate is just one piece of a set that also includes a matching cup, bowl, spoon and fork. The spoon and fork and maybe even the bowl are all toddler-sized, so my daughter has outgrown those and we don't use them anymore. The cup is kind of small, too, but we still use it minus the sippy cup lid.

Yet another excellent product from Burt's Bees. The scent is different from regular baby powder, more of a sweet smell, and it goes on smoothly. This new size is the best value if you need the powder, especially since a little goes a long way with this product.

I gave this product 5 stars because I love these products. I use this powder in my daughters shoes and it absorbs beautifuly and smells great. I could barely detect brown sugar and I really did not mind it. Not in a sense that I had to tolerate the flavor, but that I really enjoyed it.

I liked that this cereal is not too sweet. I tried it as a snack by itself and with milk, and liked it both ways. However, my 4 year old son tried a piece and said he did not like it, I am guessing because it is not as sweet as his usual Honey Comb, Cheerios, and Trix stuff.

Oh well, more for me.

I don't personally eat a great deal of cereal and am not partial to Quaker's Life or Capt Crunch brands, but we must complement the company on its Oatmeal Squares product. The squares are rather small and keep a good balance with milk they do not become soggy in 60 seconds. The brown sugar flavor is adult sensitive sweet and actually retain their flavor. They could be included as a snack or as a light meal other than breakfast. The amount needs to be watched as the calorie count can jump on one if not careful.

It is refreshing to note that the classic companies continue to produce and quietly promote their quality products.

Sprout Organic Baby Food (Pack of 12)

My son loves Sprout Organics baby food... especially the Roasted Pear. As it can be hard to find in stock at local stores I have tried (5 times) to order Sprout Organics from Amazon. Unfortunately, the twelve packs come in a manufaturer's point of purchase box that only has the name of the baby food on a label and 3 of the 5 boxes I have ordered have contained expired food! And lets be real you are not going to feed a baby expired food.

It is very frustrating and I cannot really blame Amazon because as far as I can tell you have to open the manufacturer's box to get to the expiration information. So the food is great but buyer beware. Check the expiration date because more than half of my orders have arrived to me already expired.

UPDATE: I have never updated a review but I feel compelled to do so now. I contacted Sprout and let them know about the expired food. The customer service rep who I spoke with told me that I "wasn't the first person to call them about this problem" but they seemed to listen to the feedback and even promised to replace the food. Unfortunately they forgot to send the replacement food so I am now 3 weeks from the date it was received in the mail... no money back... no food.

Here is hoping next week brings me better luck.

I feed my baby organic baby food from several different brands. I must say that Sprout tastes the most like real table food. If you look at the ingredients, you can tell that a lot of thought is put into making these taste like real food. Plus, they are extremely filling and nutritious. I have tasted this one, and if salt were added (of course I wouldn't want that in my baby's food), it would taste like a very delicious canned soup.

If these are available locally, I would suggest buying one pouch of several different varieties before investing in 12 pouches of a flavor that your baby may or may not like. My local grocery store carries them as well as Walmart.

ETA: I just noticed that amazon doesn't list the ingredients. The ingredients for this flavor as well as all of the others can be found on the Sprout website. I will copy them here.

So my child was strictly breast fed until the age of 10 months. Then I tried feeding her. I tried just about every organic baby product out on the market, result : BLAH! She does not like baby food?!?!?!?! I have resulted in feeding her what she will eat from our meals, or rather what she is allowed to eat from our meals. I will eventually make all of her baby food but thought, why slave over the stove now if she is not going to eat? I'll wait until she wants to eat, then I'll slave. For now, she is nursing OVERTIME!!!

Today, at of all places, Lego Land, I see "Sprout" baby food. It's organic. I read ingredients . . . . just food! So, I try it. I like it. Tastes like food to me. Not jar baby food, but like the baby food I made my son. My daughter LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that she eats it. Bought every one of the different types they had at Lego Land . . . . now I'm going to order on line.

My daughter LOVES this oatmeal. She flat refused to eat rice cereal when I started trying to give her solids at six months, so I decided to present her with oatmeal instead. Granted, this oatmeal has applesauce and cinnamon and the rice cereal didn't, but on texture alone this product was an easier sell. It's smooth and creamy and has a wonderful soft, spicy fragrance from the cinnamon. Whenever she doesn't finish the pouch (which is rare), I eat what's left. It's that good.

The pouch is fantastic to throw in her diaper bag and I appreciate that I don't worry about glass breaking in her bag or feeling compelled to try and find a use for an empty glass baby jar (well you *can't* just recycle those things, they have to be useful for something, right?).

One tip: I found the applesauce did bind our little one up rather painfully when we first started feeding it to her (wow, was *that* a long night). Adding in a few spoonfuls of prunes, apricots or peaches when feeding her anything with pears or apples solved that problem.

I bought this because I used the Nuby with my first child on 2005. Well the gasket that is supposed to slide up as the baby sucks is so tight that it wont move. Also the small feeder that comes with it does not allow anything except liquids through it. I ended up using an upolstry needle to try and make hole larger but it didn't work as well. I decided to go and by the Sassy 4oz 2pk of feeders. These work awesome!! The foods moves through easy and they are much better quality.

I love this I just wish it would hold a little more food. the small one is kinda pointless i only use the 4 ounce one. And the only thing i dont like is that it only will work with stage 1 or 2 foods.
