PlanToys Large-Scale Kitchen Set

PlanToys Large-Scale Kitchen SetArrived quickly. Item is easy to assemble. Quality is okay but for price it should be better. Not happy that door latch was broken so I had to glue it back on. It's a little wooden peg attached to the inside top left corner of the door. The door had a crack at the bottom hinge but I guess I can live with it knowing how much of a hassle it is to return it and pay postage and wait over a week just for a little crack. I filled the crack with glue so it seals the paint along with the crack and hope with all the handling it will get from my 2 1/2 year old daughter that the crack will not open up and get larger or break off. Looks like the door hinge connection to the main cabinet is glued in so it would be difficult to remove the door. Would be nice if it could be remove/replaced so I could just get a replacement door instead of sending the whole Kitchen Set if I mind the crack at the hinge. The top shelf is a little loose and looks like it was made to move but I don't see why. One of the knobs was pretty loose but it feels it will stay on and I like that it makes clicking noises like a gas stove starting as you turn it. I also purchased Plan Toys assorted fruits and vegetables sets and cooking utensils so my daughter had something to cook with it. The meat and fish set has not arrived yet. Another little imperfection is the cooking utensils fork and spoon that came with the cooking utensils set fits the Kitchen Set utensil holder just below the top shelf but it's not easy to remove and replace. You have to turn it a little otherwise there is a chance the Kitchen Set can be pulled down when trying to remove the utensils from the holder. It's designed that you have to lift up or twist the utensil to remoce it from the holder. I guess if a child is older than 3 years they would know how to do this but my daughter is just under 3 years old with a little demonstration she learns quick. It is rated for 3+ year but my daughter is doing fine playing top chef. I like it enough that I will get the washer set that Plan Toys makes. I also like that you don't smell any paint toxins or glues but just some wood smell.

I was worried about ordering this online because of another review regarding the packaging. It is true, the packaging is minimal and the company keeps true to their eco-friendly commitment even in their packaging. The kitchen set is only cushioned by pieces of cardboard, but it's adequate in protecting the item. And how wonderful to not have to open up a ton of needless plastic bags or bubble wrap that will end up in the landfill. The item arrived in perfect condition. It is entirely made of wood and stained with water based dye, so no paint chipping. There are no VOC's or offgassing, no plastic, no vinyl. It is compact, yet large enough for my toddler to play with for years to come. She loves her new kitchen and mommy loves the quality of this toy! Plan Toys is a wonderful company!!!!

We think this 'stove' is attractive, liked because of its bright color. We bought it with the fridge to make our 2-year old a kitchen and although big fans of the looks (it truly is a beautiful toy, especially as a set), it's hardly functional. The two burners are kind of a joke, the oven has nothing but a hole in the door---my kid (and the 3/4 year olds that come to play too) think it is a pantry. We have finally given up and put a mixer and a coffee maker over the burners and we use it as more storage along with the fridge---we bought a very cheap wooden stove elsewhere we use instead. Maybe for younger children, again, under 4 or so...it's best to go with a more conventional looking stove (my kid likes having four burners for all his pots).

This is a very small scale, wobbly, and poor construction product. I bought all of them for a complete kitchen and it is horrible. For the opening windows there is no plastic so there is actually no need to have a door at all. The sink bin is a cheap low quality metal bowl that you could not even use as a mixer. It was dented withing the first 30 minutes in regular play.

The microwave door is held together with string, crazy! The dishwasher component is combined with the sink and it fold downward, so the kids get to stand on it! Dumb designer!

I would never ever ever buy this product if I were you, and it is still expensive!

They are all small scale and easily dipped over.

Nestle Cerelac Honey 400gI mix 2 scoops of this and two scoops of formula in my son's bottle and it keeps him full longer. My mother says she used it on me when I was a child and it kept my cheeks rosy and me full. My son seems to really enjoy it.

The First Years 6 Pack Take & Toss Bowls with Lids, 8 Ounce, Colors May Vary

The First Years Take & Toss Toddler Bowls, 8 Ounce, 6 PackWe've had these for 4 years from when we started sending homemade purees to daycare for our oldest and we love them. I'm here to replace some that have gotten lost, but we never "toss" them. They seal well, go in the freezer and dishwasher for years and hold up just as when they are new. They stack really compactly. We make a weeks worth of food (purees for the baby, mac and cheese, veggies, soup, etc. for the big kid) and freeze lunch size portions in these in the freezer. If we have a bunch I'll pop them into a ziplock and pop them back in when making lunch the night before, but if they are full, I'll just keep them stacked in the freezer and transfer them to the lunch box. After 4 years we have a couple (out of 18 we originally bought 4 years ago) lids that have cracked at the very edge. They still seal well enough for solid foods (apple slices for instance), but we don't trust those with our liquids (like soup). The 4 year old ones without visible cracking still do fine for soups. BPA-free too!

I have used First years take and toss sippers and bowls since the birth of my nieces. Now I am using them for my son and they do not disappoint. I have absolutely no complains about it. Great product great price.

I've been using these bowls for my one year old and they are great. I use them for snacks, for taking her food to daycare, and for her leftovers. Dishwasher safe and microwave safe. I got boy colors the first time and girl colors the second time. It doesn't make much of a difference to me, although I understand that some folks may not like the surprise. The daycare loved these bowls so much, they have suggested them to all the other parents.

We got these to hold our daughter's treats when we decided we were going through too many plastic ziploc bags. They were much better than a plastic sandwich bag in terms of durability and life cycle. However, we still found that we ran into the same problem of the snacks being knocked out (or dumped out) when out and about. For taking snacks on the go, we found that the Munchkin Two Snack Catchers, Colors May Vary worked better for our needs, especially when it comes to preventing spills. The downside to those is that they aren't air-tight so the food can go stale.

So, you really have to determine what you are buying this for. If you are getting it to prevent spills, there are a lot better options out there. If you are simply looking to replace ziploc bags with something more durable and eco-friendly that will still keep the snacks from going stale, then this is a great product.

These dishes work great and are really durable through the dishwasher and long term use. Have noticed that little crumbs from cereal, etc leak out into our bag, which is frustrating. I also would have loved to have been able to pick the colors, but ended up with some girly ones :)

Ella'S Kitchen Ooh My Goodness Oat Crumble, 3-Ounce (Pack of 7)

Ella'S Kitchen Ooh My Goodness Oat Crumble, 3-OunceI purchased a bunch of these all different kinds (my niece has a baby 5 months old) she said little Audrey loves them. She can't stop eating them, her big blue eyes light up, and she wants more and more. I also purchased their smoothie's and she had the same reaction. Audrey is very picky about what she eats, so Ella's Kitchen is a big winner. This is definitely a product you should try, I recommend it highly.

My husband and I are big fans of all the Ella's Kitchen products. They have some of the most unique flavors and I love seeking my son's reaction to different foods. This is by far one of his favorites. He gets very excited about the Oat Crumble. No stores in my area carry this one, which is disappointing but I am very glad Amazon carries it.

Glow Baby Shopping List Pad, Purple

Glow Baby Shopping List Pad, PurpleI can't live without a magnetic grocery list pad like this. The second I use something up, I add it to the list. This list has a great layout I love that there are two rows for listing ingredients (twice as many can be listed) and I also love that I can write my dinners up at the top so that I can see at a glance whether I've planned enough meals.

The only negative is that eventually, the list came off of the magnet backing. This has happened with every such list I've ever used so I can't knock it too many stars for that but I wish they'd come out with one that lasts until the very last page.

Plum Organics Little Yums Teething Wafers

Plum Organics Little Yums Teething Wafers, Pumpkin Banana, 3 OunceInitially, I bought Baby Mum Mums teething wafers for my baby but I stopped buying them once I realized that they were made in Guangzhou, China. I have seen countless recent news articles about problems with quality control in Chinese factories. So, I happily switched to plum organics teething biscuits, which are baked in Italy. They are made with whole grain buckwheat and real fruit & veggies. They easily dissolve in my baby's mouth and my baby likes the flavor, as well. I think that gnawing on them soothes her gums. They are also portable and easy to pack along.

description says product is made of buckwheat but doesn't mention that the first ingredient is "organic rice flour", a.k.a. arsenic.

My 1 year old just got his first teeth last week. I got some of these teething biscuits on sale to try them out; wasn't expecting him to love them so much! He squeals in excitement when I pull one out! :-) They keep my little guy busy if I need to finish cooking dinner or something else; they last him at least 5-10 minutes per cracker. I really like that these biscuits don't crumble or make a mess, and don't break off in large chunks (rather they get softened & "chewed" down). I appreciate the fact that they are organic and have some veggies in them. I highly recommend them!

Munchkin Fresh Food Chopper and Steamer

Munchkin Fresh Food Chopper and SteamerI used this to chop apples, pears, spaghetti, and carrots. It was a bit difficult to get some of the larger hard pieces all the way through the blade grid but with some force, putting a flat edge facing down, and by cutting them a bit smaller they did get chopped. It would be useful for chopping veggies for salads or onions before cooking.

The steamer is very easy to use once I get the fruit or veggies in there and it works well to get them soft so I can either mash them up into a puree or feed as finger foods. I would even use this to steam veggies for the whole family.

The pieces come apart and it comes with a little comb I thought I would never use but it is actually very helpful in getting the food unstuck after chopping. I was worried about the plastic staining when I used it to chop up spaghetti but I rinsed it right after I used it and it came clean.

I would recommend this product to someone who wants an easy way to prep food for their baby and probably for years after as well. The price is fair for the fact that it serves dual purposes.

I bought theis particular steamer hoping the "chopper" portion would be more useful. You MUST chop the food small and in equal pieces for the chopper to actually, well, chop. Therefore I would have saved money by purchasing the other one I had in my hand and chopping the food myself. The steamer itself works well! I recommend this product for anyone who doesn't plan on making baby food often. If you plan on making every meal, I suggest just buying a quality(and larger) steamer.

Easy to use! Very easy to clean. My only problem is sometimes the veggies didn't cut all the way and I had to use a fork to push it but it's worth it overall!

Kinderville Little Bites Freezer Trays (Set of 2)

Kinderville Little Bites Freezer TraysPros: silicone and non-toxic; cute design, the lid

Cons:

1. the price is too high for 8 cubes

2. the lid stays on only the first time you use it. if you re-open the tray to remove one of the frozen sections, the lid somehow does not seal after it completely

3. it's a little tough to remove the frozen food. you have to completely push the section from inside out to take the content out

4. if you freeze something liquid, the trays bend, so the liquid can spill.

I will continue using them since they are non-toxic, but I am buying more plastic (BPA-free) containers with lids (Baby CubesTM 2 Oz. Baby Food Storage Contains no Phthalates, Bisphenol-A, PVC). They are more convenient and easy to use.

Similar to other reviews, I do think these can be difficult to use at times. So far we've only used them to make ice cubes, which can be a little hard to get out of the containers. We haven't had any problems resealing the containers after being opened as one review mentioned, and I think they stack well in the freezer.

The biggest draw for of this product is that these are the only freezer trays with silicone lids I've been able to find. Despite other products claiming to be "non toxic" I'm still skeptical and feel more comfortable using silicone, especially once we begin freezing baby food in them. I would definitely recommend this product and hope that more non-plastic options continue to be made!

I originally purchased these to freeze homemade baby food, but we didn't end up going that route. Later I used them as little snack trays a little kamut in one, blueberries in the other, etc. for my toddler. Now I use them to make ice cubes out of filtered water. I like that it makes a large cube (cone), versus a tray that would only make a small square. I'm also going to use bamboo popsicle sticks and make popsicles in them this summer.

If I'd known about the excellent 'stay fresh' individual babyfood containers by 'one step ahead' (available on this website) with screw-on lids, I would have bought them from the start and not these. These are OK, it doesn't bother me that you have to 'unpeel' the frozen food from the socket as it does one reviewer, but they are much less convenient than those other containers. I don't need to transport them much but I do like to take one pot out of the freezer and defrost it and then bring that single container to the table. With these multiple ones, you have to transfer the food into another container and quickly put the other portions back in the freezer. And they don't stack, take up more space for that reason, and so on.

Considering how expensive they are, I'm not too impressed. But if you're a silicone junkie, then go ahead. They're certainly usable and now they're a back-up option if I make more food than will fit in the 'stay fresh' containers.

Dr. Brown's Designed To Nourish Snack-A-Pillar Dipping Cups

Dr. Brown's Designed To Nourish Snack-A-Pillar Dipping CupsI had lost my Zoli container and decided to purchase this one instead of replacing my Zoli. If you're using these as separate pieces, you can really fill them up cause they have curved bottoms and tops, so you can put more in, unfortunately when you join them together, you lose a lot of space, I can fit maybe 3 fig newtons in a container, and a few cookies in another, to me that's just a waste. So I will give this to another mother with a baby that can use it for formula or smaller snacks. I feel that this is not designed well at all. If you're looking for something to hold snacks for a toddler, I highly recommend the Zoli Sumo Snack Stack.

I have used these for home-made baby food. I freeze the cubes and then place them in this container to combine different meals on the go. It has never leaked and fits about 3-4 cubes of food. I love the rounded top which helps with frozen cubes as flat top containers usually don't allow for good closure of frozen cubes. Dry baby food also does not spill out. I have used containers in the past where the dry cereal leaks out and I usually had to put the container in a zip lock bag to contain the spillage. Not so with these. They are great and don't leak either liquids or tiny dry ingredients. They are great to keep things like freeze dried fruit or yogurt bites from absorbing moisture while on the go.

I have also used it for my 5 years old daughter that just started kindergarten. It's easy for her to open and the perfect size for some cut up fruit or veggies. They are also fun colored tops so she does not think they are too "babyish" for her.

I think I may buy more.

These snack cups are fantastic. I make my own baby food and these are perfect for taking food on the go. I stack them together or separate depending on what I have put in them. Food items that are more fluid need to either be on the top of the stack or on their own so they don't get the bottom of the other container wet with the food item, however, anything that is not liquid (avocado, chunks of fruit, cheese, meat, etc) can be stacked without a problem. Absolutely love these and am going to order another set as I use the one I have so often.

Not too sweet

Good fruit combination

Cons:

My baby inhales this pouch started feeding him this around 5-6 month. Mango & pear create a nice combination, delicate taste of sweet & just a little tart.

I don't review often but when I am satisfied with a product like this, well I just had to say how much I appreciate and love this product. I have very picky eaters. They don't eat ANYTHING new. But, this product did the trick. I've been feeding this to my now 13 month old since he was 5 months old. He can't get through the day with at least one of these pouches. I send (among other things) this pouch to daycare everyday. At home he has it with some oatmeal and organic butter. My toddler daughter also loves this. She will take a pouch to pre-school and actually finish it every time she finds it in her lunchbox. I even gave one to a co-worker who recently got braces as an adult and even she liked it! She went out and bought some more at Target for the days she needs something to sustain her when her braces get tightened. I can't recommend this enough. I bought a single serving pouch at Target first to try it and once my kids were hooked I've been doing subscribe and save. I also do subscribe and save with the pumpkin banana one...it's delicious!

Our daughter loves all of the "squeezable" fruit varieties out there. We prefer her to eat fresh fruit and veggies and make our own purees at home, but these (we call them) "squishers" are indispensable for snacks on the go in the stroller or car. Our only complaint in ordering them or buying them in bulk is that we wish there was some way to buy a VARIETY PACK. I don't really want to buy a pack of 24 pear and mango only. When I buy these in the store, I buy a wide assortment of flavors, fruits, veggies, and even brands. Plum Organics could win us over for good if they offered a mixed pack that we could regularly order to keep us outfitted for zoo runs and play dates. :) Does anyone know of any such option out there?

It's a little on the runny side, but I think once our twins are a bit older and they understand how to eat from the container a bit better, it won't matter if it's runny.

J.L. Childress 2 Count Reusable Ice Packs, White

J.L. Childress 2 Count Reusable Ice Packs, WhiteI'm not sure why other reviewers had problems with the durability of these ice packs. I've used this brand for all of my kids and never once had a problem with the packs tearing. I just bought a few more for my lunch bag. We keep extras in the fridge at all times and just rotate them throughout lunch bags and the bag that I carry bottles in.

They keep everything cold much longer than you would ever think and I love that they don't take up room in the freezer like those bulky, ugly bags do.

I would definitely recommend these and don't have any concerns about their durability. Plus, they're made in the USA which means they're safer than other options that are made in China, or who-knows-where.

I bought these ice packs to put in a cooler to transport my baby's milk to daycare. One of the bags broke the third time I used it and now there is blue goo everywhere.

These ice packs are not very hardy. The first day using one and it came home with a big hole in it. The other is still usable but they are definitely not a good choice for using in a kids lunch box. The hard-sided packs would be better to withstand daily lunch box use. The quality of these packs do not match up with the price paid.

Some of my ice packs got tossed out by mistake so I bought these as replacements. These are about 3"x5" size. A little smaller than what I wanted. We put them inside our coolers instead of ice to keep things cool. You need several of these (at least 4) to keep a medium sized cooler chilled. Two of these would work for a small lunch sized cooler. They stay frozen for several hours. Also re-freeze quickly.

GoFreshBaby Reusable Refillable Recyclable Food Pouches 3 Pack

GoFreshBaby Reusable Refillable Recyclable Food Pouches 3 PackI bought these & the very cute Animal Squooshi Reusable Food Pouches to try. I wanted to be able to bring along my kiddos favorite smoothies when we are out & about. (My kids are 5 2) I personally prefer the Squooshi pouches as they don't have the gusseted bottom. I found getting the bottom to open difficult & I can imagine if you don't rinse them fairly quickly after use food could get stuck in the corners. Having them stand up isn't an issue for me. They are also very boring in comparison to the Animal Squooshi. So far they have done a bang up job in performance and as I have washed them out fairly quickly after use there has been no issues with getting them clean. I don't both to air dry them I just shake the excess water out and pop them into my fridge in a zip lock bag. The fridge stops and bacteria growth and the pouches are clean and ready to go from the fridge.

Description claims they hold 5oz but it barley holds 2oz. The measurements along the side of the pouch clearly indicate 5oz but I'm not sure how they came to this. I filled a measuring cup with water and poured it in. It holds exactly 2oz, until you try to close the pouch at which point a lot comes out. My daughter gets about 3 bites out of these. Its just not worth the trouble of filling and cleaning when its of such little use.

Such a simple purchase makes me feel better about my contribution to help the environment too. I'm always excited to share these pouches with others, they are my go to birthday gift. I bought 20 of these guys and have been extremely happy with them. I have found they should be rinsed out as soon as possible and then can be ran through the dishwasher. I don't put the caps in the dishwasher though. To fill them I use a 2oz measuring cup with a spout, this makes it easy to pour and less likely to get any on the ziplock. If the ziplock gets messy they can be hard to close. I haven't had any issues with my little guy squeezing too hard and it spilling out.

I was very nervous about these. I was afraid the plastic would be inferior, and that the ziploc on the bottom wouldn't hold up against a toddler.

I WAS WRONG!

This is a great product! My husband tried to squeeze it (while full and capped) to see if he could get it to bust open, but the ziploc held firm. Granted, he probably wasn't using his full strength, but certainly more than could be expected from a toddler or sane adult. The plastic is heavier than I expected as well, and the cap screws on quite tight.

I have experienced some leaking when stored in the fridge for more than a day, but found this to be easily fixed by storing them cap-down. They don't stand upright on their own anyway, so I used a plastic container to keep them together.

These are great so far. I've frozen them and thawed them and they have worked very well so far. If you want to write on the package the company's website says to use a permanent marker and then rubbing alcohol to remove it. I haven't tried that yet but I'm guessing it will work they had a video showing how that worked. I've had no problems with them sealing my 1 year old has squeezed them and not popped open yet.

We needed to get replacement tubing, but the only option that we saw in most stores was to get the whole pumping set, which was a bit of an overkill. Highly recommended.

This product does work with the Symphony! I was a little disappointed I could not boil them to sanitize them, but most of the time its unnecessary.

I had no hustle at all with this order:

it arrived next day with Amazon Prime,

and fitted our Lactina pump attachment kit (both breast shields and cylinder) just fine.

It has identical adaptors on both ends of the tube though, but as they fit well, I see no problem with it.

P.S. Prior ordering this set, I called Medela customer service asking for a free replacement for tubing, but have been told they were not going to send it for free, unless I had a warranty case with a proof of purchase (which I have not had),

Easy to use and what I needed, it was hard though to determine if these where the tube's i needed, but i think that is Medela's fault and not the sellers.

Enfamil Newborn Infant formula Tub, Through 3 Months, 23.4-Ounce

Enfamil Newborn Infant formula Tub, Through 3 Months, 23.4-OunceI've been through several formulas and this one seems to work well for my baby. He doesn't spit-up as much with it and is less gassy. I like that it mixes better than some of the other products. It doesn't seem to stain like the other formulas and it's not as yellow as the other products I've tried. It actually looks like milk. As for price, I've seen many people complain about Amazon's prices on formulas, this one is very comparable. Same size same product comparison Walmart is $23.89 and Target is $23.78. I have Amazon Prime so I get free two day shipping. It's worth it for myself who lives an hour away from a Walmart and would have to pay shipping online for 5-10 business day delivery with either of those places. Overall, I hope this helps others looking to buy formula but remember all babies react differently to the various formulas. Good Luck!

We first tried breastfeeding our newborn for 3 weeks but due to unexpected condition we could no longer breastfeed. We started using this formula and so far it's been working great. This one has more Vitamin D than the Infant version, which I believe is essential to the newborns. It's relatively new so you won't find that many reviews on this product, but it's been working well with our baby.

Since breastfeeding didn't work out, we started out using Enfamil Lipil which caused my daughter to get terribly constipated. The Newborn formula was then recommended by our Pediatrician. It has been wonderful for my daughter who gobbles it up. She is currently 2 months old and doing great. This formula mixes very easily and has very little foam. She occasionally gets gas but no more constipation! I definitely recommend this formula.

I am supplementing with this formula. In the hospital they gave me this the first day and all was great but then, for some reason, they gave me Similac to feed him. He had two nursettes of Similac and spit up both times! I requested the Newborn Enfamil again and had no more spit upsnone! He is now seven weeks old and is doing great! We used Enfamil with my other son (now four) and he never spit up at all. I have no idea if that is anything to do with the formula but I think it would make it worth a try!

I started using this product after a C-section delivery with my newborn. Like many mothers out there I had problems producing enough breast milk to satisfy my son from the beginning. The hospital staff started supplementing my son on the Enfamil 2 oz. ready to feed bottles for infants which he seemed to tolerate fairly well. After we brought our son home we switched from the ready to feed plastic bottles to the Enfamil Powder "Lipil" for infants which unfortunately was causing him to spit up as well as making him extremely gassy. We then tried Earth's Best Organic Dairy formula for a couple of days with somewhat better results. Shortly thereafter our lactation consultant gave us a gift bag of Enfamil products which contained a sample of the Newborn formula as shown here. Our son tolerated the formula well. It doesn't bubble up nearly as much when you shake it up and it digests quicker like breast milk. My son received mostly breast milk up until 6 weeks of age and we supplemented 2 4 feedings a day with the Newborn formula mostly at night. At his 8 week check up he had gone from 6 lbs at birth to 12 lbs exactly. I was glad to have a formula to supplement with that he could tolerate. My only real issue with this product is that he was constantly hungry even when we started to increase his formula feedings between weeks 8 to 12. It got so bad towards the end of his third month that he was getting a formula feeding every 30 60 minutes in the afternoon and evenings and he was still waking up 2 3 times at night to feed. We had a lot of difficulty satisfying our son's hunger with this product. While overall I was happy with Enfamil Newborn, I wouldn't recommend this product for larger newborns. Thankfully he did not have any problems with excessive gas or spitting up with this particular Emfamil product and that was a huge relief so we were glad that we were introduced to this product early on.

green sprouts 10 Pack Sprout Ware Toddler Utensil

green sprouts 10 Pack Sprout Ware Toddler Utensil, GirlI generally like green sprout products. However, I wish that I had known in advance that these are not for long term use. The package specifically states that these can be washed up to 10 times in the dishwasher, or by hand wash for longer use. We've had these for a couple weeks and they are already wearing down. By this I mean that they are no longer hard utensils, but are maliable enough for a 15 month old to bend them in half (which he did by merely trying to stab a piece of cheese with a fork).

Don't waste your money on these. If you want utensils made from natural materials go for Dandilion's products we have a couple Dandilion utensils that we got when our son was 5 months old and are still in great condition (despite being bitten, thrown, pounded against trays and furniture, etc.)

I actually like these utensils quite a bit. They're good size, made from corn, and even though they need to be hand-washed, they manage to last quite a while (we're on our second package in 8 months). As a bonus, if you're using them while out to eat and forget to take one off a plate, it's no big deal because they're so inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Great for moms who are dubious of plastic (like me).

Used for a trip to China and wanted disposable utensils... this did the job great: easy to wash, recyclable and my son felt it was easy to use

My 20 month old son used these while we were on vacation. They were a great size for him to use to feed himself.

Great "green" product and doesn't break easily like other utensils made from cornstarch that I've tried, however, the sizes are small for my 2.5 year old's mouth and doesn't pick up/hold much food. It may be better for a beginning solid food eater rather than an advanced eater. It is gentle for little mouths and come in fun colors with smiley faces on the utensils.

Boon Mush Manual Baby Food Processor, Tangerine

Boon Mush Manual Baby Food Processor, TangerineI got this to take along on an upcoming trip with my 13 month old twins and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, as it got table food to a nice "chewed up" consistency. I gave it four stars because it"s a tad too big to just throw in the diaper bag easily and it takes a little muscle to use the mechanism, although an effective one for sure. The first time we tested it out, i ended up with a pretty large cut on my finger (the blades are very sharp!) and when my husband took over, he ended up sending the whole processor across the kitchen, spattering a mishmash of turkey and stuffing all over the clean dishes so yes, it takes a little practice. Fyi, if you're looking for a fine pureed consistency for your final product, this isn't the apparatus for you. Ill be using this a lot for my twins as theyre transitioning to table/finger foods and even for chopping things up so another yay for Boon!

Although we usually feed our 9 month-old baby organic, store-bought baby food in pouches, I wanted a simple food processor that we could use once-in-awhile to make homemade baby food, or to add finely-chopped fruits and veggies to ready-made purees for an extra nutrient boost. I didn't want to plunk down over $100 for an electric baby food maker that would only be used occasionally, and which would become virtually useless once my baby started eating table food. But it was extremely difficult to find a regular electric food processor that's BPA-free. So I started researching manual baby food-makers, and came across the Boon Mush. This is a deceptively-simple device consisting of 3 sharp metal blades that the user spins within a bowl by pulling on a ring connected to a string. At first, I was skeptical about how a product resembling a child's toy (minus the sharp blades) could possibly dice and chop fruits and vegetables finely enough to make baby food. Well, the Boon Mush made a believer out of me! Its 3 blades minced everything we put in it, from steamed carrots to mangoes, efficiently and effectively. The consistency of the finished product depends on the amount of time and power you put into pulling the cord mechanism to rotate the blades, and of course, the type of food you start with (juicy vs. dry). On that note, the Boon Mush will not make 100% smooth purees like you might get with an electric food processor or high-end blender. Rather, as its name suggests, the finest consistency you can get is a textured "mush" containing very small bits of food. Therefore, this product may not be ideal for making baby food for an infant who's just getting started on solid foods. But once your baby is ready for textured solids, the Boon Mush is likely to become one of your "go-to" baby food-making devices. It's BPA-free, which is a huge plus. And, as an added bonus, it can be used to dice and chop fruits and veggies for "adult" food once your little-one has outgrown baby food.

i have a one year old that cannot chew meat or chicken so i bought this hoping that i would be able to mash up meat for her. this merely shreds chicken and even to do that, it needs a lot of liquid. i put chunks of cooked beef in here, that i had cut up and it did nothing. the meat chunks just got stuck on the ends of the blades and all that happened when i pulled the string was the meat wiping the bowl. terrible product. excellent idea, but poor execution. what it did do well was with noodle soups the noodles were cut into bitesize pieces but i don't think that it justifies the keeping of this product.

i can see how this would do well with very soft foods with considerable liquid but if foods are already that soft, i don't need to use the boon mush for it.

use at your own risk, make sure you can get free returns. also, clean up is not as easy as it claims. any liquid splashes out, gets inside the top of the lid, and sometimes on the inside of the lid. when you chop up hot foods, the lid has a tendency to get stuck from the suction. so either you need super strength to undo it, or wait until it cools down.

i will be returning this. i'm surprised by all of the good reviews.

I really do love this, but over time the lid has become really difficult to get off at times. I must admit, I do panic sometimes thinking I won't be able to get it off. I have used mine for about 6 months and it just seems to have become a tighter fit over time. I did order another one so that I could have a second, so I am not saying that I don't like it. It is a better price and more of a convenience than many other food processors.

Update: After about 8 months of use, the top and the bottom of the lid together, came undone. I am still able to stick it back together for use, but I have to be very careful when using it to not turn it too hard. I think my biggest issue with this item is poor durability.

i love boon. i love how this product looks. i love the idea. but it just doesn't do what it says it's supposed to do. prehaps more appropriate for a toddler but certainly not for baby food. the poorer reviews already say it all. i just had to put my 2 cents in so that the overall reviews aren't skewed. when i bought it when i was still pregnant i think the reviews were 5 stars. i didn't even bother reading the reviews in detail. bygones.

bottom line. it chops. soft items only really. can't handle meat. and even with a ton of liquid, you end up with wet chopped food. does not puree. additionally, the size of the container is quite large. my 9 month old can really only eat about 1-2 ounces of solids at a time. and it doesn't chop well unless you have around 10-20 ounces of food. so making 'fresh' food that i have to freeze for my child doesn't work great for me.
