Similac Advance Early Shield, Formula, Powder, 23.2-Ounces (Pack of 6)

Similac Advance Early Shield, Formula, Powder, 23.2-OuncesEvery baby is different, but for us, Similac is a much better fit than Enfamil. Babies are gassy and formula will give them gas, but there is no blood curdling screaming or writhing in pain with Similac like there was with Enfamil.

I bought this 6 pack for 122.99, and was a good value with prime shipping. This is cheaper than Walmart or Target stores. But recently found Costco is offering a bigger sized individual cans at even better price (81 cents per ounce).

The product is fine but

I was disappointed with the shipment

I ordered six containers of this product & I was shipped about 16 of the sample tins

the formula amount was the same the packaging is annoying

if I order the six containers I expect to receive the same packaging

as what I ordered not sample sizes. These sample size containers are not for resale either

I don't think I will order from amazon for this product again

I had b/g twins and the boy was great at breastfeeding but I had to pump for the girl. She was miserable all the time and cried 24/7. I put her straight on Alimentum (made by Abbott, the makers of Similac) and she did great on Alimentum for 3 months. I wanted to get her onto a regular formula, due to the extremely processed and broken down "hydrolyzed" proteins in Alimentum (creates MSG, look it up). So I changed over to an organic formula that I love and the child was constipated!!! Then I opened up my sample can of Similac Advance and she did beautifully. No constipation, and no more colic. If I try to give her the "generic" form of Similac she gets constipated, Enfamil makes her constipated, and so does Similac Organic, so we have stuck with the blue lid Similac advance.

My breast milk wasn't coming in while we were still in the hospital so my baby came home on this formula until my milk came in. It was easy for him to digest and he thrived on it. He lost a lot of weight in the hospital because my milk wasn't coming in. Being on this formula for a little over a day made him gain enough weight that the pediatrician felt comfortable discharging him to go home.

Now my milk came in but my baby won't breast feed from being bottle fed for so long. After pumping for 3 1/2 months and trying to take care of a developmentally delayed 3 year old with no one to help me I am giving up pumping and my baby will be formula fed again. Needless to say I will be using this formula again since I know it was easy for him to digest and he thrived on it. I highly recommend this product.

edited 8/29/09: When I wrote the comment "good price" the seller on this link was amazon.com and the price was $. It's still excellent formula but with a coupon it's probably cheaper to get from your local store. We also tend to find lots of sales at local stores.

Earth's Best Organic 2nd Corn & Butternut Squash, 4-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12)

Earth's Best 2nd Corn & Butternut Squash, 4 OunceMy 7-month old really likes this flavor, but more importantly, it is one of the healthier varieties of the Earth's Best 2nd foods. We've tried several of the flavors, and while we're impressed overall with the nutrition, consistency, and flavor of the brand, this is our favorite because of the low sugar content. Some of the other flavors have up to 18 grams of sugar per jar (which is okay once in a while), but this one has only 3 grams of sugar making it a staple in our pantry.

Other low-sugar flavors include Earth's Best Organic Strained, Carrots, 4 Ounce Jars (Pack of 12), Earth's Best 2nd Seasonal Harvest Sweet Potato Cinnamon, 4 Ounce (Pack of 12), Earth's Best Organic 2nd, Sweet Potato and Chicken Dinner, 4-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12), Earth's Best 2nd Gourmet Meals, Creamy Chicken Apple Compote, 4 Ounce (Pack of 12), and Earth's Best Organic 2nd Winter Squash, 4 Ounce Jars (Pack of 12).

My 7.5 month old is not into textures just yet and she also doesn't like things that are too thick either. This flavor is a bit runny in comparison to the other flavor she loves -Spinach & Potato -but she loved this on the very first try and ate the entire jar in one sitting. Whoohoo!! I've tried to add just a bit of rice cereal to this to thicken it up a bit and it still maintains that corn & butternut squash flavor.

Nutrition Facts from label:

Calories 70, Protein 9%, Vitamin A 40%, Vitamin C 0%, Calcium 4%, Iron 2%

I've read reviews that complained about the poor packaging and inconsistent qualities between jars but I've had no problems with either. My jars arrive nicely bubble-wrapped and each is in perfect condition.

As a stage 2 food for babies with few or no teeth, this makes a terrific accompaniment to the rice and lentil jars or the fruit jars or yogurt that we feed the baby at a meal. It helps to get him some veggies in addition to the more filling rice/ grain meals that we give him. He is 17 months old and has few teeth yet, so the texture of this jar works great as well.

My son is pretty picky when it comes to knowing what he likes/doest like but he LOVED this food. I bought one at the grocery store (to test before buying in bulk) and he gobbled it down (he kept his mouth open for more even after I was done).

I will be adding this to my "yes" foods to buy in bulk :)

My 7 month old really like this blend. It seems to me that you can taste corn better that squash in this combination, and it's more on the sweeter sidethat's what babies like best.

Baby Bistro Brands, Inc. Toddler Bistro Box

Baby Bistro Brands, Inc. Toddler Bistro BoxThe title and the packaging suggest that this box is filled with recipes for infants and toddlers. Unfortunately, this has very few recipes. These are high gloss index cards with nutrition information. These index cards are very impractical for reading because if the cards go out of sequence you can't make sense of the reading. My toddler took the cards out of the box and I don't have time to reorganize the cards back in sequence! So instead of helping me save time as this bistro box claims to do, it has given me more mess to clean. I threw out the cards and now use this as a very expensive recipe box.

The recipes in this box are fine. I do make one recipe regularly. The problem is that there are so very very few recipes in all. There are a lot of sections but the cards go on and on about the basics of nutrition and some sections that seem like they should have a recipe or two in them (Dessert? I was curious what they would have for a dessert for a toddler, well, I am still wondering) but they don't, they just discuss the topic. That is fine and interesting but they are so obviously filler for a lack of recipe ideas that it is frustrating since that is what I purchased this for. Also, there are multiple recipes on each card and finding anything again can be difficult. I guess I would have preferred a book and so I will now use this experience to form future purchases.

The Toddler Bistro Box has lots of great meal and snack ideas for the parent who wants to feed their little one healthy food but feels stuck in a rut. There are also lots of helpful tips on vitamins, nutrients and advice on eating behavior. My daughter and I like to "cook" together and we had lots of fun making the tasty breakfast items that were like pancakes but new, different and yummy!

I was in a dinner rut and tired of pulling out separate food for my 13-month-old at dinner time. This box has given me great ideas for recipes I can make that all three of us (mom, dad, and baby) all like and all eat together. Some are super easy and some require a bit more effort, so I have found I can make several of the recipes during the weekend and then eat them during the week.

The author has done all of the research for you, and the simple, fun format is so easy to use. This book answered all of my questions and set my mind at ease. I would highly recommend this for all new moms and dads!

Similac Advance Early Shield Infant Formula with Iron, Ready to Feed, 8-Fluid Ounces (Pack of 24)

Similac Advance Early Shield Infant Formula with Iron, Ready to Feed, 8-Fluid OuncesFirst off, the bottles DO NOT contain BPA. The lids are coated in an epoxy that does, but there is another layer over that to help protect the BPA from getting to the formula. I actually called Similac's parent company to verify this.

Yes they are expensive, but I get coupons all the time from Similac and use those to buy these bottles. They are wonderful for camping, fishing, or any other time sanitation may be an issue. All you have to do is attach your own nipple and ring. Much less to wash.

Though they are really not made to do it, you can punch out the center from the ring and put in a standard nipple. It seems like it will leak, but it doesn't. Then you can just throw the whole thing away.

I always have a couple of these in my diaper bag! We bought the case for our recent vacation and they worked out so great! No washing bottles at the hotel or needing a refrigerator or cooler. I reccomend that you buy a 3 pack of those super cheap evenflo bottles just to use the nipple and ring. We bought a pack of these for $2.99 and use the rings/nipples everytime since our Avent ones don't fit. Love these ready to feed bottles!!

I buy formula with coupons, or find a deal online, Check out your local stores and find the best price, then you know how to shop online, and what a good price per box is. Our daughter preferred Similac over the other leading brand. She became constipated with powdered formula, so we stuck to Ready To Feed, when she was not breast feeding.

This product is great to throw in the diaper bag for on the go feedings. I bought it from Amazon and then read the reviews it can be purchased cheaper at Target. It is $9.99 for a 6 pack at Target, so Amazon is cheaper by $4, plus you get the convenience of it shipping to your house. If you register on Similac's website, they will send you $5 vouchers which can be used in store. With the $5 vouchers, each 6 pack $5, bringing the Target total to $20 instead of the Amazon's $36. Also, I took the advice of another poster and bought the cheap Evenflo bottles to reuse the nipples ($3 for a 3 pack). Definitely a great suggestion as the disposables are $1 each.

GoFreshBaby Reusable Food Pouch, 3 Pack

GoFreshBaby Reusable Food Pouch, 3 PackThe concept is great... though when I bought these I also bought a competing product squooshi (?) and much prefer the other. This one is less obviously made children, so my older child might have used it for smoothies, if it wasn't for an overly tight zip lock that is too difficult to open, causing the seal to tear apart from the bag.

We really love these even for our 16 month old makes for a quick snack or breakfast of yogurt, applesauce, purees, etc. The only difficulty is in getting it to seal without getting food caught in the zipper (haven't mastered that yet) and cleaning out the far corners of the bag sometimes takes a little more effort. Still, we love them!

Thinkbaby BPA Free Cereal Bowl, 6 Months

thinkbaby BPA Free Cereal Bowl, OrangeThis bowl gets a workout in our house. It's perfect for my toddler son who wants to eat from a bowl, but may decide to throw the bowl when he's done. I don't worry about plastic leaching into his hot foods, like oatmeal, and if he throws it the plastic outside protects the stainless steel from dings. My only complaint is that the "think" printed on the bowl is not centered from top to bottom on the bowl and the words are scratching off (we only hand wash it).

I love this bowl! We use it daily. I love that it's food grade stainless steel so I don't have to worry about chemicals leaching out of it like I would with plastic. The plastic "think" cover comes off for easy washing. I had read a review on another website how water got trapped between the stainless steel bowl and the plastic outer layer so I was worried about that, but when I received the bowl, I realized the outer plastic layer can be pulled off to clean.

The lid is great too. If we're going to be out and about, I put rice cereal or oatmeal in the bowl, put the lid on and toss it in my diaper bag. When I'm ready to feed, I just add formula, mix and we're good to go! When I'm finished, I just put the lid back on, toss it back in the bag, and clean it when i get home. Very convenient.

I highly recommend this product.

Oxo-biodegradable Honeysuckle Baby Food Storage Bags (Baby Food Bag 300 Count)

Oxo-biodegradable Honeysuckle Baby Food Storage BagsThese are handy little bags, but be aware that they are smaller than the breastmilk bags. I was recommended the breastmilk bags by a fellow breastfeeding mom and got these, somewhat by mistake, when the milk bags were sold out. They hold a max of 7 ounces. I have also used them for homemade baby food and here is where my only real disappointment occurs. Getting the food in and out of the bags is a messy affair. While trying to spoon the purees into the bags, the areas above the zipper got coated in food. Instead, I now freeze the food in my baby bullet tray and transfer the pops to these bags. Serving directly from the bag is also tricky with a small baby spoon, so instead I'd recommend transferring the food to a dish with a larger spoon. That being said, so far I am pleased with freezing and freshness aspects of the food and milk I've stored in these bags. They get far less freezer burn than regular ziplock freezer bags that I stored some puree pops in before.

This company has lightning fast shipping and fantastic customer service. I have been using the food storage bags and breastmilk storage bags for 10.5 months. They stand up well, have reinforced sides to help prevent leaking, and an easy pour top. Highly recommend.

J.L. Childress 6 Bottle Cooler Tote Bag, Blue/Green

J.L. Childress 6 Bottle Cooler Tote Bag, Blue/GreenWe use this cooler to transport our 9 month old's bottles and solid food to daycare. We have a large blue Medela ice pack on the bottom, and fit four 9 oz. Tommee Tippee bottles. In the top compartment we store his breakfast and lunch in 2 oz Oxo containers. I also add a bib and spoon. We've been using it for months and have had no issues. Love it!

I bought this hoping that I could fit 4 Dr Brown's 8 oz bottles for daycare inside or for pumping on days that my Medela bottles and cooler were dirty. Because many reviews I read said that the ice pack that came with it bursts easily, I also purchased the contoured Medela ice pack for $10. It fits perfectly inside the JL Childress 6 bottle bag with 4 Dr Brown's 8 oz bottles--ice pack, bottle, lid and all. I gave 5 stars because this is what I bought it for and it works for me. I didn't try to fit 6 bottles because I don't plan on using it for that, so I can't comment on the fit of 6 Dr Browns bottles.

I was really happy with this product at first; it held 6 Dr Brown's bottles in the main compartment and the top was handy too. This morning after barely 2 weeks of use the zipper came undone and won't close. Of course we didn't discover this until we dropped off our son at daycare, so now I'm not sure how we'll transport his leftover bottles home on the subway. We'll probably have to discard that milk, which is really frustrating.

I use this daily. My son and I walk to work and daycare, so I can use a mommy hook to hang this from his stroller rail so the bottles stay upright on the ride to and from daycare. I tied a knot in the strap so that the bag doesn't brush the wheels. The little compartment in the top part is handy too, for extra pacifiers or other small items. Good quality, and the perfect size and shape for my needs.

Boon Munch Snack Container

Boon Munch Snack Container, Purple/Green, 8 OunceI like the durability of the product along with the variety of colors. However, the container can be very messy in the hands of little ones since the cup has no spill proof feature

I had a snack ball that was made by a different company and ordered this product along with a Boon Snack Ball. This product is made of much less sturdy plastic than the snack ball. The lid does not stay shut. It just spins and spins whenever the container is in motion. I have purchased other Boon products in the past and never had a problem, but this snack container and the Boon snack ball are both very poorly made. Other brands offer better quality in identical products.

+++Additional Info+++

Wow! Decided to use the snack container and put a few Cheerios in it. Let my 9 month old hold it. Of course, he dropped it and POP! Off snapped the lid. I tried to put it back on, but one of the two prongs that held the lid on had broken off. Really?! Certainly not a baby product!

My daughter enjoys this cup because it fits in her hand and she feels as if she has "secret snacks", but the quality is certainly lacking. The plastic feels thing and cheap, almost to the point that I worried about cuts as she placed her hand down the hole. The swivel lid doesn't stay shut, but it is easy for my daughter to spin around and get snacks out. The lid has come off during regular use, but I was able to pop it back into place. My daughter almost refuses to eat out of anything else, but I know that if we don't break her of this, we will end up having to buy replacements because there is no way it will last a long time.

Healthy Times Organic Mixed Grain Cereal for Baby, 6-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12)

Healthy Times Organic Mixed Grain Cereal for Baby, 6-Ounce BoxesDear Amazon website I like this brand of rice noodles think it is very suitable for my baby because journey is distant bought 24 packs of 2 box but unfortunately is all about expired food I'm worried about a 10 month old baby can eat so I can say very disappointment shopping

I had been using happy belly baby cereal since Gavin was 4 months old, but decided to switch it up and offer him some new grains. I chose this cereal because it includes barley in the mix, which I like alot. Gavin really likes the taste, eats it up just fine. It is a finer cereal than happy belly, and can get a little gelatinous, but Gavin doesn't seem to mind (he hates Gerber baby cereals, however). I like to add mashed fruit, canned pumpkin or spices (especially cinnamon and ginger) to the cereal to keep it interesting.

I really don't have any complaints besides that it's more flaky than Earth's best. I like the consistency of EB better, but this is cheaper and I can't find EB in any grocery stores in my area. Maybe at a Whole Foods (which isn't in the area).

With almond milk it tends to be more goopy. With rice milk and water it mixes a little better. I tasted some and it tastes very much like rice so I am thinking that the rice is for filler and there is less ratio of barley and oat.

My 8 mo son eats it great tho, never a problem.

Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair, Scatterbug

Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair, ScatterbugI did not want a bulky traditional high chair for my second child so I purchased this item. I've been using it for about three months (baby is now 8 months). I am pretty satisfied it's easy to set up, tray is nice and big, chair and pad are very easy to clean (no hidden nooks where the food can hide) and my baby seems comfortable in it. The print is very nice. When I had it in a reclining position it didn't quite fit in my chair. Thankfully, the chair has a cross slat in the back so I fit the top of the seat through the whole between the slats. I do not like the child restraining straps. When my baby was smaller there was a lot of slack left on the straps which was always in the way and he was always chewing on them. It's a bit hard to get him in and out of them. I often have difficulty sliding the tray in. I don't like that at all. My baby is chunky, 22 lbs at 8 months and I am concerned about him being comfortable in this seat as he gets bigger. I do wish it had a bit more cushiony padding. So far I am satisfied with the item but I could have gotten a bigger more comfortable traditional high chair for him for a few more bucks.

I love this all but for one thing, the fabric cover is flimsy and it does not go all the way over the sides, thus food that your child will inevitably drop will wiggle it's way under the seat for a later... reeking, stinking, and rotting mess. I would like to see Fisher Price make the cover go all the way over the sides and attach there with a clip, preventing the "yuckies" from happening. Other than this flaw, I love the convenience and space saving abilities of this seat. I would give it 5 Stars but alas the "yuckies" keep it at a 4!

Buy Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair, Scatterbug Now

We loved this chair at first... but then after using it for a few months we have come to realize the truth. First of all, it's dangerous. When not using the tray part my daughter has gotten her arms stuck between the rails (that the tray attaches too) and the seat part itself multiple times. While it didn't require any medical attention, it caused her pain and gave her a red arm and upset her to the point of crying. The last time that her arm got stuck it was stuck so badly that we weren't sure we were even going to be able to get it out!! 2ndly, this chair is difficult to clean and to keep clean. I like the pad, but food is constantly falling between the pad and the seat and getting underneath and you may not realize there's anything under there for weeks..... yuck. One tip though, the pad says it can only be handwashed, but we have washed ours in the washing machine on cold/gentle cycle, and dried it on tumble dry low with NO issues at all. The fabric has held up very well.

OH, and also, the tray is very hard to get on and off the chair.. it worked like a charm at first but after a bit of wear and tear I guess... the mechanism is getting worn out. Very regretful that we spent $65 on this chair......

I see that the 2012 model no longer includes the tray arms, so at least they redesigned it... I still wouldn't buy it though, I am looking into other options.

The Sili Squeeze Ultimate Sili Pack: 4oz Original Sili Squeeze & 6oz Sili Squeeze with Eeeze

The Sili Squeeze Ultimate Sili Pack: 4oz Original Sili Squeeze & 6oz Sili Squeeze with EeezeI'm so glad I found these pouches. My 16-month-old loves eating yogurt and smoothies out of them, and they are really easy to fill and clean. So far they have been leak-free in my diaper bag.

My biggest complaint is that the lids are NOT dishwasher safe. I read on the Sili Company website that all parts are dishwasher safe in the top rack, but one of my caps warped in the dishwasher and no longer fits over the spout.

Great quality and I love the fact that all he pieces come apart for easy washing. Also like the fact that you can just put them in the dishwasher. They hold a lot of food too.

My two youngest children are currently 3 and 1, so this pair of Sili squeezes was meant for both of them to have an easy, healthier and somewhat less expensive way to eat foods that are still difficult with a spoon and a bowl (not to mention the mess that I would have to clean up). We have primarily been using them for apple sauce and yogurt fruit blends. The larger one has a fast flow while the smaller one requires a bit more suction and the clear lids fit very snugly so no spills. They feel sturdy and simple to fill up and keep clean. The price is steep but it's been a month and I think I'll break even soon as we had been buying GoGo Squeez Apple Pouches on a regular basis. Being able to prepare and transport our own snacks has been a great way to eat healthier so we don't always have to resort to crackers and goldfish.

This is one of the few "gadgets" for kids and baby that actually gets used in our house. If you're hesitant but have been buying the expensive disposable pouches of snacks, this would be a smart purchase that you won't likely regret.

Naturepedic No Compromise Organic Cotton Classic Lightweight Dual Firmness Crib Mattress

Naturepedic No Compromise Organic Cotton Classic Lightweight Dual Firmness Crib MattressAfter a significant amount of research, we decided on this mattress based on the quality, non-toxic materials and positive reviews. We intended to use this mattress in our new DaVinci Kalani crib. However, we were surprised to find that the mattress is too small for the crib! The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends less than 2 finger widths space between the crib and the mattress. Both my husband and I were able to fit 2 fingers easily, making this mattress and crib combo a dangerous suffocation hazard! The stated measurements on the DaVinci Kalani crib were very close to true The width was listed as 28" and measured just over that number at 28 1/8". The Naturepedic mattress width was listed as 27 1/2" but really measured about 27". To make matters worse, the rounded edges of this model (seamless design, non-traditional binding) made the width at the surface of the mattress even smaller only 26 1/2". So the gap where the surface of the mattress meets the side of the crib is over 1 1/2" and very unsafe.

I contacted Naturepedic about this problem and was told that they are aware that their mattresses do not work with several popular crib manufacturers, including DaVinci, Ikea, Pottery Barn, and others that I cannot now remember. I asked why they do not advertise this point and was told they would look into that. I suspect their mattresses will not work with any crib with the standard 28" width, given the measurements that I took. Shame on Naturepedic for not sizing their product correctly and thus creating a dangerous crib environment.

As another poster stated here, I also had a similar experience with receiving a mattress that was too small. I bought the Naturepedic Dual Firmness Lightweight mattress on Overstock.com. I purchased the Graco Lauren Convertible Crib. The mattress was 1 1/2 inches short on both sides. Enough space to roll up a towel and stick it in the gap. After reading this review and response from Naturepedic, I contact the customer service number listed here and explained my issue over voicemail. They returned my call the same day leaving me a message to email them an explanation of the issue, my mailing address, and where I purchased the mattress. I didn't even have to provide a receipt. They immediately shipped me a replacement mattress along with paid postage to ship the mattress back in the box I received the new mattress in. The new mattress fits perfectly and my little girl loves it. Naturepedic couldn't have been easier and more helpful. I really appreciate their no hassle, no questions customer service. I would definitely recommend this product and company.

This is an excellent mattress of quality workmanship and worth the expense. It's very light and managable; however, it utilizes an unstructured framework that runs about an inch small in length. The shortness created a gap on the ends that was too wide for our standard-sized crib (28 wide by 52 1/4 long). We exchanged it for the boxspring 252 model, which seems to run a little bigger and fits tightly all the way around.

I bought this mattress after reading the reviews and baby bargains book recommended the mattress also. The mattress is light weight feels super sturdy etc. easy to change the sheets! However, my 5 month old is off the chart for baby weight and the bed started to sink in. I don't normally write reviews. If you think your baby is going to be big (my husband is 6'3" tall big guy), you might consider a different mattress? I contacted Naturepedic and customer service was excellent. They didn't ask for pictures only proof of purchase. They shipped me a new mattress with free return shipping. Good luck out there.. being a parent is the best thing in the world!

I shopped around looking for the best organic mattress for my son. This is the only one that is safe at every layer, still waterproof, and a good buy since it has two different firmness options.
