Earth's Best 2nd Vegetable Variety Pack, 4-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12)
We have twin 7-month olds and their favorite is the sweet potato followed by the carrot jars. They love those. They like the winter squash. We could not get either of them to eat the peas with brown rice despite numerous attempts.
They like the brown rice cereal we give them though, which we get from the same brand, Earth's Best. They really dislike the peas and will not eat that one.
You can get this variety pack at the subscription price, which when considering free shipping is fair enough.
You can also get any of these flavor types individually in packs of 12 for the same price and with the same subscription arrangement. You can even get lentils with brown rice under the same terms, so scroll and see all the types of jars they have. Therefore, once you know what your baby likes and will eat, you'll know which subscriptions, if any, to sign up for.
For us it makes sense to go with subscriptions since we're buying for 2 babies. This same package costs 8.99 at baby's R us. Save your money. Asside from that the product works great and is very nice not to have the BPA and toxic chemicals in your little ones food.

I was disappointed to find out that the LIDS of Earth's Best jarred foods are coated with an epoxy lining that contains BPA :(I thought I was avoiding the whole BPA issue because these are in glass rather than plastic containers. If it's in the lids, it's going to get in the food as the food moves around in the jar during packaging, shipping, storage, etc. I was planning on being a devoted Earth's Best jarred food user because it was organic and in glass, but then I found out about the BPA. As a note, if BPA doesn't bother you, most of Earth's Best food is tasty.

I bought this line of baby food because it was organic and came in glass jars. I prefer to make my own baby food, but some times you need other options, especially when traveling. It is incredibly disappointing to find out that there is BPA in the lids. I just talked to the company and they confirmed this. My understanding of the canning process is that it requires heating the product to a high temperature in order to create an airtight seal. So not only is the food being exposed to the BPA during this heating process, but then during the entire storage process until an unknowing consumer like me buys it. I feel incredibly dumb for trusting Earth's best to be good for my baby. Get with the program and create BPA free lids! I recommend everyone taking the time to call the company and urge them to change their packaging. Until then I will stop buying this food line. Here is a website that will give you some ideas for other organic baby foods that have BPA free packaging

I originally gave this product a bad review:I got one of these in exchange for points through Recyclebank.com. I was pretty excited about trying the product and very disappointed when it arrived with a small tear making it unusable. It looks like it got melted to itself during the manufacturing process and then torn when laid out flat. Very disappointing that a small company would not be able to manage better quality control.
I contacted the company and they very promptly sent me a replacement. The new one is flaw free. I've used it to wrap up cookies. It doesn't fit a sandwich very well if you use the lager rectangular shaped bread, but I think it would work well with the smaller square bread. It's a bit awkward to wash, but it's worth it when you think of how many plastic bags you can save from the landfill!

Everyone at work wants one! In fact, I've bought a few of these as stocking stuffers/Secret Santa items. Instead of using aluminum foil or plastic sandwich bags that cost money and litter the earth, wrap your sandwich in one of these easily washable plastic sandwich wrappers. Hold it under the faucet, hang it up to dry, and you're ready to wrap another sandwich tomorrow.I use these everyday, and I'd like to get more, but I think they are high priced. Nevertheless, I feel better about using them, rather than baggies or plastic wrap, which go in the trash. They are a little bit clunkie, but they do the job. I use them for cookies or carrots, in my daily lunch.NUK 30 count Breast Wipes
I will recomend it.I'm a first-time nursing mom and thought these would be great to have. However, before they arrived I began using the unscented natural baby wipes and I think they work just fine. I'm using these now that I have them but probably won't order again. I'm not convinced I need them.
Philips AVENT BPA Free Breast Milk Storage Set
Now the thing i noticed, is the Avent bottles that have the 1 piece and even the ones with the 2 piece anti-colic valves tend to sometimes leak... even when done correctly! My son would get halfway through a bottle and all of a sudden it would just leak! drives me crazy!
I dont know if its just luck or not, but these have not leaked at all!!!!!!!!! I make sure i use these instead of the regular 4ox or 9oz bottles. these in my opinion are waaaay better!!!
UPDATE 12/27/2010: Recently had a few minor leaks, minor because i caught them at the beginning of the leak. I dont know what it is with avent... its not at the beginning of the feeding, but more towards halfway through! The ring is not too tight, but tight enough... its leaked with new AND used nipples, and yes, they ARE snapped in correctly, and i read a trick to make sure the vents are where the rings are on the collar, and it still does not help. But my son loves the bottles.
I recently started to use the born free bottles... and the avent nipple fits in the collars! These are still perfect for storage, but if i am going out i transfer to born free.

I've used these several times now--and they don't leak. I can shake breastmilk as vigorously as I want--there is still no leakage. They are also easy to clean--wish the mouth was a little wider so that my hand can get inside, but it is wide enough (46 mm inner diameter) and short enough (4 0z bottle is 82 mm from interior base to top of lip) that I can get a sponge in there without a struggle, making a bottle brush unnecessary. This is the cheapest, non-disposable, volumetric, BPA-free, wide-mouth milk storage solution that I have found--perfect for taking expressed milk to daycare. I liked these so much that I just bought more. Note that these bottles are a little honey tinged, but that is just a property of the BPA-free plastic that Avent uses.Read Best Reviews of Philips AVENT BPA Free Breast Milk Storage Set Here
I got a couple of these sets when my baby started solids. I made her food and froze them in these bottles so I could just take one out and put it into the Avent food heater and serve. Very convenient. no leaks. Works very well with the Avent system since the pieces are interchangeable. Baby's food stayed fresh in the freezer until eaten. Happy baby. happy mommy.Want Philips AVENT BPA Free Breast Milk Storage Set Discount?
I purchased these bottles for my son's daycare use since they reheat the bottles. They work just as well as the regular Avent bottles except they have the slight yellow tint to them so that you can tell them apart. I picked this set over other BPA-free Avent sets b/c I didn't need the nipples I just needed the bottles. I like having the extra sealing discs, though. I was unable to find these in a store, so Amazon was a great option.Earth's Best, Organic Whole Grain Mixed Grain Cereal, Apple Sweet Potato, 8 oz (227 g) (Pack of 12)
Reusable Food Pouch (Pack of 8)
Squooshi pros and cons:
pros: cute design, babies were able to get most of the food out on their own, easily washable, available in multiple sizes
cons: not dishwasher safe (does not say either way on the package or instruction, so i'm guessing no), does not stand up on its own (harder to fill), the sizes are small4.5 oz and 2.5. The smallest isn't even as big as the smallest disposable pouch, no measuring lines
I haven't decided if the zipper on the bottom as opposed to the top is a pro or con. So far I haven't had an issue with the bottom leaking
green pouch
pros: zipper on top, stands up on its own, larger size, sturdier pouches, measuring lines at 2, 4 and 6 oz
cons: babies needed more help getting all the food out, square design leaves more food in the bag when done, only available in one size. Cleaning is the biggest con for me. They are dishwasher safe, but I found that the dishwasher alone does not clean them well. Food also got caught in the bottom crevices, between the sides and the bottom. They say to use a bottle brush for the "pesky bits", but even that didn't reach all the food. To properly clean them, I had to take a skewer and a paper towel and shove it down in the crevice to wipe it out. After 3 weeks of use, the zipper separated from the sides. They are supposed to last a few months.
all in all, I think I will buy the squooshi pouches again. They both get four stars from me because there are features of the other that I like, but as far as ease of use for the babies (who I bought them for), I think the squooshi is preferable.Just as a disclaimer, this is the only reusable pouch I've purchased, so I can't compare to others. But I did a lot of research ahead of time, and based on what I learned, decided to go with these.
I'm a mother of 3 wonderful children, ages 4, 2, and 7 months. We go through at least 14 Lifeway Probugs pouches a week. With a 3rd child soon to join the kefir monsters, I wanted a more economical option. So now I buy whole milk Kefir in a bottle, and fill the pouches myself. My only concern is that the kids will toss the pouches instead of bringing them home, but so far that has not happened. My 4 year old also loves to pick which design she wants to have. I was concerned that there is no stop valve on these like on the Probugs, but so far the Squooshis have not been any messier.
Squooshis are easy to fill, easy to close, and difficult to open, and that's what you want in a pouch. Try as they might, my kids cannot open the bottom of the pouch, and I can only do so using 2 hands. So, you're unlikely to have leakage at that end.
As far as cleaning goes, I run soapy water through them, scrub out the top with a nipple brush, and then run them through the dishwasher on the top rack to sanitize.
I have made many purees for my 7-month old and filled the pouches with those too. Makes for an easy on-the-go meal. You might want to use a jamming funnel to help with the filling process from your blender or food processor, or just wipe down the filling end with a paper towel before closing.

I purchased these for my then 10 month old. She loves them and they are very easy to use and clean. Upon receiving the original order, a cap was missing on one. A quick phone call and they not only replaced the cap, but they sent her another of her favorite animal Squooshi. I bought these so I could use my homemade baby food and avoid the expense of those costly pre made organic food pouches. Even my friend's 6 year old liked these! I bought black b/c it would go with the most things I figured. My baby loves it! It's pretty long for me i'm 5'4" so i had to shorten it. But...warning! The black looks terrible as it picks up every fuzz and lint and just doesnt look shiny and pretty like this picture. I wouldve gone with a patterned one if i had known. nothing helps it look good either ... :(Read Best Reviews of Smart Mom Teething Bling Donut Teething Necklace Here
I bought a couple of these for my 6-year old boy recently diagnosed with anxiety. He kept chewing on his shirt, fingers -anything he could get in his mouth. We call this his "chew ring" and he chews on it as needed. Sometime he wears it, but more often than not he carries it or puts it in his pocket. He chews a lot on the string too which doesn't bother me. Better this than his clothing. I highly recommend this!Want Smart Mom Teething Bling Donut Teething Necklace Discount?
I have a silver teething necklace that the baby loves. She loved this one, too, but it feels like lint and general dust gets stuck to it and, unless it's just been rinsed, it never really feels clean.Vital Baby Baby's 1st Food Pots, 7 Ounce, 4 Pack

1/15/2011 update:
I just couldn't be bothered to continue hand-washing these, so I'm back to report that these go through the washer quite nicely!
Also, these have quickly become my favorite food and snack storage container. I just love these. Love them. LOVE THEM!!!
The lids are easy to get on and off now that I've used them for a bit, but they are still very tight on the cup. I can give my 7 month old daughter the cup full of Cheerios to play with and there is no way that lid is coming off ... no matter how many times she tosses the cup to the floor. This won't make a great snack cup for her to use later on (I just don't know how a little kid could get the lid off without making a major mess), but it's perfect right now.
Anyway, this has become our go-to cup for her mealtimes and for her snacks (...and mine!).
The only bad thing I can say about the Vital Baby containers (this and the silicone-bottomed ones) is that they scar when microwaved with fatty foods. I don't really count this against the product, though, since this is just an issue with any plasticware that I've come across.Great bowls, easy to wash and holds items perfectly. The only problem is they hold no where near the indicated ounces. At best these may hold about 4.5-5oz. Still great, would recommend to anyone.

These are wonderful little containers for me to put frozen "plops" of baby food in for my daughter! My favorite feature is that the lids are curved outward in the middle instead of flat across the top. I make most of my own baby food and freeze it in small "plops" on a baking sheet lined with freezer paper. That way I don't have to spend time washing freezer trays or trying to pry out the frozen cubes of food. I can peel the "plops" right off the paper. The curved lids make it so much easier to fit these into the pot since the edges are round. Very nice! The plastic is very sturdy, I was pleasantly surprised to discover, and they have little rubber rings around the bottom so they are less likely to slide around on the table. Handy if you're feeding your baby one-handed! The lids fit very nicely and seal well. Now if you're going to store soup upside down, don't use these, but they do handle a good amount of sloshing and bouncing without leaking so long as they stay fairly rightside up. I did notice that they do fade considerably when washed in the dishwasher, but hold up well other than that. Overall, I'm very happy with this buy and will purchase more of these in the future!Read Best Reviews of Vital Baby Baby's 1st Food Pots, 7 Ounce, 4 Pack Here
I purchased a different brand when I first started feeding my daughter baby food, but I found them to be too small. I kept running out of containers after making a batch of food. These containers are a very generous size. As she grows, I won't have to upgrade to a larger size. The lids are great as well; I've had these for a few weeks and no pop off accidents to date!

Naturepedic Waterproof Flat Portacrib Pad, 24x38
BUT despite these not exactly fulfilling their anticipated role very well, they've been great for under blankets everywhere else! Even with a blanket beneath our little one, he can spit enough to damage carpet, our bed, grandma's couch etc. We use these everywhere to keep our baby from soaking through.
They wash and dry well, but be sure not to put more than one into a load of laundry; They work well to line the washer too and can block the machines spin cycle. We have the Naturepedic crib mattress, as well as the Naturepedic waterproof crib pad. We have the full mattress pad on the mattress, then the portacrib pad over that (we have portacribs at both grandparents house, so we bring this pad along). I would say that unless you are buying the full-sized crib waterproof mattress pad to protect the mattress from dustmites, I would recommend the portacrib pad. The portacrib pad is much easier to take on and off since it doesn't have the elastic corners to deal with, which means you basically have to take the mattress out of the crib to put it back on. The BEST combination would be to have your mattress, the portacrib pad, and zip sheetsThen you never have to take the mattress out of the crib to change the sheets.

I love the texture, the softness of the pad. It is totally natural and that for me gives me a sense of safety and security. We bought a mini crib, and we have a normal mattress we tried to get a naturepedic or other brand, organic mattress, but they only sell pads (which don not have the firmness required for an infant). The only problem I had with this pad was precisely the lack of elastic corners. Infants move, and if the pad is not secure enough, it will move as well, creating a risk of suffocation. I bought large elastic at a craft store and sew it to the corners, so the pad would be well attached to the mattress. Despite that I still think it is a fantastic product, and I actually have 2 of these.Read Best Reviews of Naturepedic Waterproof Flat Portacrib Pad, 24x38 Here

Its longer than my pac n play mattress by about 1.5 inches but tucks under and seems to stay in place flat under a sheet with elastic all the way around it. Thermos Ice Mat, 6 Cube
Buy Thermos Ice Mat, 6 Cube Now
My old Blue Ice packets were inadvertently thrown out by my movers, so I came here looking to buy some new ones. As I was looking around, I noticed these Thermos Ice Mats, and thought, hey, that's new and looks pretty cool! I ordered 2 of the 6-cube mats and 2 of the 9-cube mats; I also purchased a Blue Ice pack just in case these didn't work out.My initial impressions of the cubed mats were mixed. I really like how they are able to be folded around an object, however, the individual cubes are filled with waaaaaay too much water. They have soooo much water in the little pockets (with no air) that the plastic is stretched to maximum capacity and it feels like they are about to burst. This is bad for a few reasons...
1. Water expands as it freezes, need I go further?
2. Unlike the Blue Ice packs that are filled with a water mixture that stays cold longer than just water, the Thermos "cubes" are filled with water.
3. Folding a packet around an object is impractical when the individual cubes have so much water in the them.
4. The cubes are rounded so you are unable to have a great deal of the cold surface area be in contact with your items.
5. If something jabs the cube when it's stretched out so much, it has a MUCH greater chance of rupturing. Think of blowing up a balloon with just a little air, and then tap it with a fork. The fork will just push the balloon into itself. Now, blow that same balloon up to where it's just about to burst and tap it with the fork. Chances are pretty high that you just popped that balloon. That same principle is going on here. Thermos could really solve a good many problems with this product if they'd just decrease the amount of water in each cube a little.
I froze both mats, put them in my lunchbox and went to work (FYI, my Blue Ice mat was the same relative size as the Thermos mat.) At the end of the day, the Thermos mat was melted and cool, while the Blue Ice pack was still half-frozen. I think the reason the Thermos mat was still cool was because it was in the box with the Blue Ice. Regardless, I was stunned at how poorly the Thermos mat performed.
On the second day, one of the cubes on the Thermos mat ruptured. On the third day I used a different Thermos mat and a cube on that one ruptured as well. On the fourth day, I threw them out.
The last Blue Ice packs that I had I used for YEARS, and had little problems with them leaking. Every now and then one might leak, a little, but it wasn't to the extent that I'd have to throw them out since they would stop leaking and I could still use them. I think it wasn't so much of a leak, but rather, some blue dye would eventually work it's way through the heat seams and get on something that made it look worse than it actually was. This is not an issue for me because it's so minor that it's almost not worth mentioning.
The Blue Ice packs are SIGNIFICANTLY more durable, you can even feel it in the thick plastic vs. the thin plastic of the Thermos mats. **Also, and this was new to me, but when I got my Blue Ice pack, I noticed that the dye they are using in them is MUCH lighter in color and is now a gel instead of a water-like substance.** For the last 20 years or so they've been that same deep, dark blue that everyone knows, but now they are a very, very, faint baby blue. If it were much lighter it'd be clear. So, for those that didn't like getting the dark blue ink on themselves if/when they leaked, that's not really an issue anymore. It's a good change.
Anyway, I'm not saying you should buy Blue Ice packs, but I am saying don't waste your money on this junk. I read the reviews about these leaking and thought people were rough with them, but no, they really are just that bad. It's a shame too, because there's really only 2 things Thermos needs to do to dramatically improve these ice mats, and it's exceedingly simple. Implement some quality control on the amount of water that goes into each cell so they are all the same and not filled to 110% capacity, and use a slightly thicker plastic.
**If you really want to stick with this same type of product and stay away from the Blue Ice chemicals, Flexi Freeze makes some ice cube packs that are MUCH better. They have the same amount of water in every cube, they're not overfilled, and the plastic that they use is tougher. All-in-all, everything that I've said Thermos needs to do to improve their product, Flexi Freeze has already implemented. You also get way more for your money.**
*************************************** Update *********************************
It turns out that I still had one of these packs left in my freezer when I threw the others out that were leaking. I'm a long distance runner and after a run I ice my knees for 20 min. I decided to give this ice mat a try in doing that and I have to say, it worked quite well. I still keep it in the plastic case, which I hate, but I know if I take it out it won't be long before it starts to leak. So yeah, even though it does work well for icing body parts, a 99 cent bag of frozen peas does the same job, if not better, and won't leak. Even though I have a new use for this product, it's still a 5-star concept with a 2-star implementation.

A well-made ice pack. Seems to be sealed well, and though I haven't owned them long I am hoping they will last longer than most freezer packs without leaking or breaking (which tends to happen with cheaply made packs.) The design is great for most lunch boxes, but the 6 cube pack is fairly small, so you will want a few of them at least, or perhaps some of the larger versions as well. (I initially ordered 1 6-cube, and 1 9-cube for a lunch box scenario and found myself severely lacking in cooling power and needing to pick up a couple more.)I would currently recommend this product to anyone needing some ice packs, and I will update this review if anything changes.I pack this item for my son's lunch box. Despite sitting at the bottom of lunch bag without anything disturbing it, it leaked during firs time use. I ended up returning it.
