Gerber Cereal, 8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

Gerber Cereal, Rice & Mixed Fruit with NutriProtect, 8-Ounce BoxesI'll admit, I'm somewhat embarrassed to write a review for baby food, since I'm a grown woman with no children... :-)

However, I AM a teacher, and thus tend to get more than my fair share of stomach illnesses during the school year. The past few months, I also needed to take a presciption medication that made me nauseous regularly.

This remains as THE ONLY FOOD that I can hold down when I am ill and recovering from a stomach bug. It is gentle, mild flavored, completely smooth, can be mixed to any consistency (from 'smoothie'-like to paste-like)...and it just stays down. Doctors always say to start back on food with that "BRAT" diet -banana, rice, applesauce, toast -well, this seems to have 3/4 of those in 1 box!

As a bonus, it has excellent nutritional value -gives you some vitamins and such, versus when you only eat plain rice or toast. It gets me back on my feet much sooner...and it takes almost no effort to make it (important to me, since when I'm sick, I don't want to be 'vertical' any longer than I have to!) I usually just mix it with water, which works wonderfully (I stay away from dairy if I'm ill). You can eat it cold or warm. I find it to be kind of soothing when I'm under the weather.

It doesn't spoil, and I always keep some on hand just because you never know when you'll get sick (or at least I don't, what with students sneezing in my face!!) ;-)

Finally, I must admit that I think it's YUMMY! I do wish they still made just the banana rice kind -I wonder why they discontinued that, which I remember having as far back as the 1970s? But this is pretty close.

I'll admit to having a little bowl of it now or then just as comfort food! :-)

I have just started to give my baby solid food and used this cereal as suggested by almost every ped. I love this cereal because it provides nutrition for my baby and my baby loves this one because of the flavor and texture. The only thing I don't like is that the producer does not include spoon inside the box to measure, but you can measure by tbs or teaspoon yourself.

Overall, this oatmeal smells nice, nutritious and dissolves well with other fruit purees (I add fruits to this oatmeal). Easy to prepare:

Pros:

+ smells great when it's fresh, but I remember accidentally buying one that was a month before expiry date. When I opened it up it smelled bland. Buy as fresh as possible!

+ Easy & QUICK to prepare and mix with other fruits

+ better than your basic oatmeal, but i still prefer Happy Bellies oatmeals since they contain DHA

Cons:

Like the other reviewer who gave a 1-star, some did come with a small hole in the box. Each box is wrapped in plastic, once opened some of the oatmeal falls out from the bottom. It's only a minor annoyance for me.

The spout is hard to open so I ended up pouring all of it in an airtight container instead. Again, minor minor things that wouldn't stop me from serving it to my baby

my 8 month old didn't have any problems with this cereal, but my friend's baby had constipation from the iron in the oatmeal. Her baby also had gas. I would suggest feed a little bit to your baby to try it out and see instead of giving him/her a whole bowl at once.

I mixed it with milk or soy milk. The banana flavor tastes so good. The package box is a little cheap, open window should be stronger and easy to open and close.

My 10 month old loves this cereal. He has been eating it for a few months now and like how it tastes. It's a bit sweet for my own taste but I mix it with the oatmeal cereal to offset that a bit. Plus, this one is a more expensive so I save a few $$ as well.

Belle's Biscuits Gluten Free Teething Biscuits, Vanilla, 5.2 Ounce (Pack of 12)

Belle's Biscuits Gluten Free Teething Biscuits, Vanilla, 5.2 OunceA very firm cookie, perfect for fat clumsy hands to hold to the mouth. Excellent choice to grind those just erupting teeth and gums on. The baby will not get much cookie off, as the cookie itself is very firm, but it does the job as a great teether, not as a cookie to snack on.

*Multibuy* Pack of 4 White Cotton Popover Bibs

*Multibuy* Pack of 4 White Cotton Popover BibsI was surprised at how quickly these bibs arrived, considering I live in the US and they were shipped from an overseas vendor.

Very happy with the quality of the bibs, however the neck hole is a tad bit too small for my 10 month old's head. Our Peditrician has not made any comments about him having an unusually large head so I think the neck holes are just small on these bibs. I stretch it out a lot with my hands before putting it on my son. The reason I wanted the pullover bibs was to prevent him from taking his bibs off and with the small neckhole he definitely can't get it off himself. I actually have a hard time getting them off him myself. I still use these but only when all his other pullover bibs are in the wash.

I like these bibs a lot. They do fit over the head quite well. My babies are 7 months old and int the 80% for head circumference and they still have plenty of room and are not too tight to pull on. (Although at first glance the head opening does look very small--but there is a LOT of stretch in there!) Coverage includes width past the shoulders and length down to the waist. I am so happy with the fit that I just came back to buy 5 more multi-packs! When you have twins, you just gotta be able to splurge on things that offer convenience!

I prefer this style bib to others because they lack the velcro which tears apart other laundry items and often gets cruddy and loses its stickiness. The pullovers really stay put! I also like the plain white because I can soak them or bleach them without worry.

I also like the idea someone had about decorating them--which is a cool idea....but white is just fine for now.

The only downside--and the reason I took one star away is that they lack a waterproof backing and aren't very thick, so no major spills. Fortunately I clean and wipe my babies as I go....

The neck hole is very small on these bibs. They were way too small for my 8 month old daughter.

The neck is tight to get on and off, but that means it covers and protects baby's collar. Since they are plain, I don't care if they get stained and I throw them in with whatever laundry I have going. They are ample-size width and length. They arrive very quickly and I have stocked up on them!

According to the latest doctor checkups my son's head size and body weight are around the 50th percentile so very average. The hole in these is very small and I only use them as a last resort. I may need to perform an "episiotomy" on them to make the hole a bit bigger.

When trying solids I recommend buying a multi-pack of colored bibs and choosing the color that best matches the food color :)

Stainless Steel ECOlunchbox Three-in-One (Bento Style Lunchbox)

Stainless Steel ECOlunchbox Three-in-OneI love this container set but I'm not sure if other people would.

First, it is much smaller than other SS containers on the market and would not fit an adult-size sandwich. The size is perfect for my pre-teen daughter who eats a morning snack at around 10AM before lunch. I pack her PB&J or thin turkey sandwiches with crust cut off so they fit perfectly on the bottom. The top layer gets frut/veggies and the sidekick holds dry chips, pretzels or cookies. I especially love the sidekick container and wish they sold them separately.

The SS material is not heavy-duty but that's fine with me 'cuz I like it light weight. I expected cheaper material because it's 18/0 but it was nice shiny material throughout. In fact, finger prints get all over the shiny surface, but again, I don't mind that. Over time, I'm sure the shine will wear off, but since there's no paint anywhere, the vintage look will add to the charm.

Design-wise, I love the rectangular, modular shape (so hard to find!). There is not an inch of wasted space when I pack lunch in these containers.

Clasps When I first got the set, the clasp on one side was too loose to hold down the top container. I had to use my wrench to curve them down. Even now,I can't interchange left/right when I stack them or else the clasps don't fit right.

These are not the Rolls Royce of SS containers, but I'll get lots of mileage out of these for the money. I got them at really good price here... I see them elsewhere online for almost $30!! There are no bells and whistles, but plain is good for SS containers in my book.

This is a fantastic little lunchbox. I had been looking for something without any plastic which also had multiple compartments, and after looking at some other options I decided to go with this one. I'm glad I did.

The design is impeccable. The lid can be flipped upside down and used as a base for the upper level, leaving no mess on the tabletop. The top level is designed in such a way that, when set in the overturned lid, it doesn't actually touch the inside of the lid, so if either the inside of the lid or the bottom of the upper section is dirty, the other one won't get messy. This isn't hugely important, but it does make the whole process of having multiple compartments very easy to work with. All of the space in this box is highly usable.

The build quality is difficult to describe. On the one hand, my model looks obviously warped when looked at from particular angles, and when pieces are put together, they fit snugly, if not flushly. However, everything does indeed fit together as tightly as needed (it also helps to get away from the expectation of the kind of tight-fitting seal that only plastic lids can create), although I find that the clasps snap a little tighter if I put the top part on one way instead of another. The metal is smartly chosen: a little thinner in the main sections and thicker in the lids, which would otherwise be easier to bend. As it is, the lids are quite sturdy, and the larger pieces don't seem likely to deform any time soon. I was also extremely pleased to note two details: 1) There are no seams where food could get stuck (the corners are just a little rounded on the insides), and 2) there are no sharp edges. The edges, in fact, are just a little thicker than the walls--this adds a bit more stability and prevents any possibility of injury. You will find only stainless steel throughout the entire construction: even the little rollers on the clasps are steel!

As to the size: it ended up being both smaller than I expected and larger than I need; since the entire volume can be filled with (non-liquid) food, it's possible to pack quite a bit. Unless you buy smaller-sized bread, you'd be hard-pressed to cram a sandwich into this thing. However, I have found it's given me a good excuse to get away from the sandwich and explore other horizons. Leftovers are great in this lunchbox--food can simply be spooned into the compartments, and if more divisions are needed, lettuce and kale are wonderful as edible barriers. Of course, the steel construction precludes the use of a microwave, so don't expect a hot lunch.

I have also been delighted to find that this box is very, very easy to clean. The polished surface can be blinding in bright light and does show a lot of fingerprints, but I also think it causes the food not to stick so easily; I have had no difficulty hand-washing this lunchbox even after leaving it open on the counter overnight.

The only reason I'm keeping this is because it's basically the type of container for which I was looking and it would take too much time=money to go through the return process to make it worth my while.

First off this thing was obviously punched out of a poorly maintained metal press in India as fast as they could pop them out. The lids all flare outward at the edges or are pressed incorrectly to they don't seat properly. There were traces of steel dust through out the item and the "clamps" (I use the word loosely) look like they may last only a few months with consistent use. Even the box it came in didn't fit the unit correctly I mean c'mon, that's like adding insult to injury, why even put it in a box if it's so "Eco-Minded"....

All in all the fit and finish is terrible and in no way is this worth the 20+ dollars I paid for it; $6-$8.00 would be a more appropriate price. My guess is that the main distributer pays pennies to the manufacturer for these things so they are really making a killing. I should have been more cautious, so many fly-by-night companies are making a killing with the so-called "Eco" and "Green" labeled items you never know what you are getting. Caveat emptor...

I'm a highschool student and I purchased this in hopes that it would take the drear out of my lunch-packing experience. Before this lunchbox, I hated packing my lunch, hated eating it, and hated throwing away the plastic baggies. Now it's like my food tastes better coming out of this dumb little (and it is small and certainly overpriced) box. The little thing's kinda leaky and hard to open/close though, like i put some peanut butter in it this morning and the oil leaked out all the way to the exterior of the entire apparatus... but i dont regret buying it, anything to take care of some of my pervasive first world problems

(edit for fairness)today is the second day ive used it and ive come to the conclusion that it is not too small. its also nice cos the psychological solidity of it keeps me from eating all my lunch before im hungry... and the smallest container does not leak if you put it together righti was in a rush yesterday. still, the fit's a little funnny.

I got four of these as gifts for my groomsmen at my wedding. When they arrived, two of them were bent and looked pretty shabby. I was kind of embarrassed to give them to my groomsmen, but I didn't have time to send them back for a return. The metal is not very sturdy obviously. They seem like they would be nicer if a higher-quality material was used. They don't seal very well and as I said they bend easily. Probably a better idea to find a bento box of better quality, and a company with better quality control for their product. An item should not be damaged even before it's out of the box!

Ulubulu Silicone Bib, Hoot the Owl

Ulubulu Silicone Bib, Hoot the OwlThis is such a cute bib, but it was not a hit with my 13 month old granddaughter or with my 6 month old grandson. It takes too long to hook the end through the hole.

I brought two of these bibs for twin grandsons. They boys love them. We like them because they are easy to clean after each use and they catch what doesn't make it to their mouths.

I love this bib!! After going through a gazillion I finally stumbled upon these and purchased Hoot the Owl for a test drive. When I got the bib I was very skeptical because it seems rather tiny. My son is 12 months and starting to play with his food and I thought it would be a disaster. To my surprise and delight it catches everything! My son also pulls his velcro bibs right off but because of the more secure closure of this bib we do not have this problem. I also love how easy to clean it is. Perfect for moms on the go! I'm buying more.

This little bib is pretty handy in catching food that baby cannot exactly get in their mouth. Pretty easy to clean too and the design is very attractive.

Ok, I know it's not a chew toy. In fact, I'm certain that they (Ulubulu)would say (if they haven't already) that you should not allow baby to chew on this for safety reasons. But...my baby is a tiny hungry hippo. She regularly squaks if I don't get her food fast enough. When I put this bib on her while I get her food, she pulls it up and chomps on it for a good few minutes (silicone must feel good on emerging teeth), which buys me some quiet time to get her food. Oh, and also, it works as a bib. Though I tend to only use it for less messy foods because it's not very big. If it's an avocado or something that's going to be uber messy and stain clothes, you're probably better off using a bib with more coverage.

Plan Toys Tori Riding Horse

Plan Toys Tori Riding HorseExcellent modern design, very cool riding horse for our toddler daughter. It is fun to fold flat, but we only did that for our overseas move. This fold down can happen in 2 minutes, by even the most un-handy of people. Very simple. Our daughter returns again and again for a "giddjee-up" riding session, even if they only ever last 5 or 10 minutes I can see many more years of open ended riding ahead for her. Oh, she does like to drape a string of Mardi Gras type bead around the horse's neck as a necklace or reigns? we don't know, but she loves her horsey. And I, for one, love the design. Very clever indeed.

Baby Chef Artisan Yogurt Maker

Baby Chef Artisan Yogurt MakerI make yogurt at home everyday and we as a family eat yogurt 2 times a day at the end of each meal( lunch and dinner). Its a south indian thing... I made yogurt at home perfectly well at home all summer without the yogurt maker....but the weather in winter at the place where i live gets really cold and even with heat on at home...i was not able to make good yogurt. Then at last i purchased this yogurt maker. This works perfectly. I do the exact same thing with my milk that i used to do before, bring it to boil, cool it down till its just luke warm and then mix some yogurt from the previous day into it as culture and keep it into this yogurt maker and turn it on...and next morning i have perfect yogurt.

This yogurt maker comes with 4 , 5 ounce jars. These too worked out great for me. I make different kinds of yogurt now everyday in these jars. yogurt with whole milk for my kids and yogurt with fat free milk for myself and husband. I also purchased on big bowl from walmart that fits perfectly into this yogurt maker...for days when I need more yogurt when we have ppl over and stuff...and it makes more than 1/2 litre of yogurt......

I usually let the milk sit in the maker for 6 hours to make sweet/non-sour perfect yogurt for daily consumption. But when i need sour yogurt for some dish ( like rava idli) and stuff I let it sit for 8 -10hrs and it works out great.

It consumes very less power, this device comsumes only 11 watts and so haven't seen any noticeable difference in my electric bill too..

this maker makes good yogurt. and the design is compact and looks good. it doesn't take much space at all while sitting on the counter. and the BPA free glass jars even make this model more awesome!

i would definitely recommend this yogurt maker to singles or small family who don't actually require big amount of yogurt daily/weekly.

Makes good yogurt...now. On first try I used Trader Joe's 2% milk and Greek Gods plain yogurt as starter, used the amount suggested in the instructions, 1/2 cup i think. I heated the milk & cooled down beforehand, left in for 8 hours. Result was runny & inconsistent setting, inedible and too sour. Second try I used Strauss Family 2% milk and two generous tablespoons of Fage plain, heated/cooled milk beforehand, plus put a paper towel in the machine, under the jars. (I suspect the floor of the machine gets too hot for cultures to survive, don't need too much starter). Result was perfect yogurt after 8 hours, thick & creamy even without straining. Very happy esp since Amazon price was only $18 for new.

it does the job, and does it well. i'm not using dried starter, but the store bought yogurt as starter, and it works well. i start it before bed, and in the morning my yogurt is ready! so convenient! i use organic milk, no additives, no food color, no corn syrup, no preservatives, awesome! i would recommend this to my friends.

Want Baby Chef Artisan Yogurt Maker Discount?

I chose this one since it was the perfect size for me since I'm single. The instructions say to use 1/2 c plain yogurt or starter, 4 cups of milk, and 1/4c to 1/2 c instant non fat dry milk powder. I didn't do that. First off, the 4 cups of milk is way too much and will not fit in the glass containers.

I used 3 cups of organic, ultra pasteurized(UHT) milk and about 1 1/2 Tbsp of Fage 2% plain Greek yogurt. If you use UHT milk you don't have to parboil. I wasn't thrilled about using nonfat dry milk so I left that out. Came out perfect for my tastes. I pulled out two at about 7 hours and the other 2 after about 15 hours. I didn't notice a huge difference in tartness but the consistency for the ones that stayed in longer was a tiny bit thicker. I mostly use yogurt for smoothies so I don't need it to be very thick. The consistency reminds me of yogurt you can get in Europe or Asia. Next time I may try using a full fat, organic Greek yogurt as a starter and see how it comes out. I also saw a recipe that uses 2 c milk and only 2 tsps of yogurt as a starter. I just got this yesterday so I'm still in the testing stages but I totally love it so far and would recommend this to anyone!

Brandt Zwieback - 8 oz

Brandt Zwieback - 8 ozOnce a staple in USA. Now they aren't carried by the grocery stores. Thank goodness these guys still have them..

I thought these would be like the old Zwieback's from years ago. Now they're totally different and when I gave one to

my eight month old grandson he chocked even though he has four teeth. They're not the kind that babies used to

be able to chomp on and then they would dissolve. Instead they break off in big chunks so they're not at all suitable

for babies.

It does not taste exactly like the original zwieback that I used years ago when my children where young, but it will do. I actually use this for the crust in a cheesecake recipe and the cheesecake would not be the same without this so I am very happy that I can get this through Amazon.com.

These are okay. However, I was looking for zwieback cookies to use in my grandmother's recipe. She always used the Nabisco product, which is no longer available. The Brandt cookies have less of a toasted taste. Pan toasting the crumbs improves them slightly, but not enough. These are fine if you want a zwieback cookie, not fine if you're looking for the taste of the defunct Nabisco product.

Baby Bottle Labels, Self-laminating

Baby Bottle Labels, Self-laminatingI bought these to try on baby bottles for my second baby. I had labels on these same bottles with my first child and had to constantly replace them due to the bottle warmer and dishwasher turning the labels brown or peeling them off the bottles. These new labels have been thru the dishwasher numerous times and the bottle warmer too with absolutely NO ill effects! I used a sharpie to write on them and have had NO running/seeping ink. They show NO water damage, heat damage, peeling, etc. They are awesome! I plan to buy more and use them on everything that I need to label for my little guy! I highly recommend these labels!

The labels are great so far. I applied them to my daughter's cups and tubs few weeks ago and they are still on with no signs of coming off. I don't put her supplies in the dishwasher though, so I'm not sure how well they would stay on after machine wash. I've lost a couple of cups in daycare because the marker would come off (or maybe not) and parents would snatch her cups by mistake. No more of that, all cups and tubs are in her bag at the end of the day :) Besides, I save all the time now not having to mark up her supplies every day. Super labels for the price.

I envy the people who gave this 5 stars because their labels stuck wash after wash. No such luck here and I am using them on Medela and glass bottles (and they come off both). It's been 1 month since I bought this product and half the labels used are gone. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes they fall off in the dishwasher, a couple times I have found them stuck to my child. While good for entertainment value (imagine a baby with a sticker on his leg that has his name on it), the product has been a huge disappointment.
