I spent a lot of time researching mattresses (in fact, she was three months old when I finally got this). My daughter will be spending a lot of time in her crib with naps and bedtime, and having a convertible crib means she'll have the same mattress for many years so I wanted a mattress that could handle the wear and tear. I love the fact that this crib has two sides, a firm infant side and a softer toddler side. The infant side is very firm, but doesn't feel like cardboard (as I've seen many comments about this on other mattresses), the toddler side is still pretty firm, but is noticeably softer. They are clearly marked with a tag, but to me the difference was pretty obvious. I love the fact that the mattress is not made with petroleum products, it makes me feel much better about my daughter being so close to it a lot of the time. The mattress is waterproof, no need for those mattress protectors, I just wipe it down during each sheet change. It is very light and easy to get in and out of the crib while fitting snugly in it. My daughter falls right asleep when I put her down, something I couldn't say about her pack 'n play or her bassinet. I couldn't be happier with my choice of mattress and highly recommend it. To me it was absolutely worth the price and I will be buying another one for my next child when they come along.

I love this mattress for my 22 month old daughter. I sought after a tempurpedic mattress but after reading reviews when she was an infant about how most matresses are made of Petrolum, I looked for an organic memory foam. I read through hundreds of posts and decided to go with the cheaper version of this mattress. My friend recently gave us a second bed and I loved that one so much that I bought this one. She will have an easy transition from my room to hers and I won't have to put her back in bed with me when she gets scared at night. If your looking for a good matress for an infant or toddler this one is awesome I don't think kids should suffer with crappy mattress after all would we buy ourselves something as unsupportive as the $45 infant mattress's. The First Years Babypro All In One Baby Food Maker

I was surprised by how small it actually is, however the product works well. I think the directions need to be more detailed, and come with more specific water amounts to add for the fruits/veggies. The blade is very sharp and works well, I am pleased with the overall performance of the product. I have sucessfully made several meals with the machine. Compared to the significant price break vs. the competitor version of this (which my friend has) I feel I can do all the things with my machine and feel like I got a good value. I am enjoying this product.

Opposite my friends advice I bought this instead of a more expensive Kitchen Aid food processor. I figured half the price half the work right? The processor part has a great blade and is very efficient for it's tiny size.

HOWEVER, I found that is you are making more than 1 or 2 serving for your little one, The steamer has a hard time fully steaming the batch. I found my self running it 2 and sometimes 3 times after "rotating" the food in the steamer. I only had it fully steam something ( half the steamer / maybe half a cup) once... and it was Peas. Each steam session is between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the amount of water required, which is very hard to figure out. I tried the max recommended thinking it was just not cooking long enough and it barely made a difference. Definitely not a time saver

The instructions say to cut food into 1/2 inch cubes, fine for carrot or green beans, but if you have ever cut sweet potatoes or squash this is by no means an easy task, and even less so if you have to run the steamer more than once to get it cooked enough to blend. After a week I caved in and made the investment to a Kitchen aid with a slicing blade ($99) and a steaming basket. Now I can slice everything thin enough to steam in no time, and puree like a champ.

Blender... great, steamer... not worth the investment. Too bad, It is a great idea if it worked.

when I first got mine out to use it I thought it was broken because the steamer light wouldn't stay on. Then I looked up FAQ's on learning curve's website and the container that does not have holes in the bottom that looks like it is supposed to hold water is not where you put the water. The water goes directly onto the heating plate. When I was searching online I found a lot of people had this problem, the directions are not very clear. But it does work. The food processor half also makes more smooth baby food than my old food processor. However, the price has jumped for some reason after I purchased mine and I don't know if I would buy one now. And it is a small gadget so you can't make much baby food at a time.

I got this as a first time mom who wanted to make her own babyfood in order to save money as well as giving my son the best food he could get. My mother in law bought this product for me, at my request and I'm not sure why I'm seeing bad reviews! It's awesome! As for instructions, you really don't need any other than 9 oz of food takes 3 oz of water (to steam). It's a little trial and error, but it took me less than one afternoon to figure it out for myself.

I usually can get two/three servings per each steam. If you want to do more at a time, then get another processor. But keep in mind that it really takes no time at all. (I Facebook while I'm steaming, or do laundry), the unit sits right on my counter and it doesn't take up much space at all, it's easy to take apart and clean and it's simple to use! After I put my son to bed is when I'll make his food, or on a weekend afternoon and that's all it takes to make up to two weeks of food. As for recipes...there are tons of books out there and websites that are helpful if you really just take the time to look.

If you want something easier, then maybe you shouldn't be making baby food from scratch at all. Sure it may take a while, it may be a little work, but isn't that the point? It's worth the effort knowing your child is getting food that you've made for him and not just popping open a jar! My son's favorite foods so far are cauliflower and mango! He gets oatmeal swirled with real strawberry puree in the mornings and we're trying fish with lemongrass, starfruit and papaya this weekend!

The only reason why this isn't getting a full five stars is because I wish I could just a little more at a time.

I purchased this item in 2010 when my son was about 6-7 months old. I loved the product: it was space-efficient, fast, and pureed perfectly. I could adjust the consistency of the purees. I did not have any problems with chunks or food pushed to the sides. I also did not have any problems steaming vegetables, even when the food chamber was full. I had to rotate and rerun at times, especially when I had both proteins and vegetables at the same time, but I didn't see this as a problem. I was using this food maker daily to make complete meals for my baby.

However, after about 3 months of use, one day our steamer stopped working! Just like that, while it was sitting on the kitchen counter. The blender was still working but not the steamer. Amazon's return/exchange period had passed so I contacted the company. They were incredibly nice and helpful, and sent me a replacement immediately.

Unfortunately, with the new replacement Babypro, the blender suddenly stopped working after a month's use! This time the steamer was working and my son was able to eat small chunks by this point so I just kept the product and continued using the steamer only. I was very disappointed that the second Babypro had failed too. As a first time mother, I was really proud of making homemade food for my baby and loved this machine for allowing me to do so.

All in all, could have been a great product, but it failed me twice. I will not be buying the BabyPro again for my second baby, I am going to try a different baby food maker.

The smell is very strong while applying the lotion, but it does not last. I don't know about you, but I don't need all this fragrance ( senti bon) in my healing lotion. The product can leave your skin very greasy if you use too much. It is more like a cream than a lotion. The consistency is very thick. You get best results if you use it right after your shower. Use it on dry skin if you have sunburn or mosquito bites that hurt. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sassy Stainless & Rustproof Diaper Pins - Set of 8

Our son (aka the escape artist) is really adept at getting loose from his swaddling at night. We've started using a single safety pin to secure the blanket, and that has worked wonders for keeping him snug, and consequently helping him sleep longer. These are fairly standard safety pins, and do their jobs very well. Other than the one that our cat chewed to pieces, they're all working as they should.

PROs:

1) Sharp!

2) Do what they're supposed to do

3) Help us get a few precious hours of additional sleep

CONs:

1) Not cat proof

I'm giving these 5 stars....not because they're as good quality as the ones I used on my kids in the 80's, but because, as a grandma now in 2011, I was surprised to be able to buy any at ALL lol (most people who use cloth diapers now seem to use those very expensive "designer" nappies with velcro) and, with that in mind, they were better quality than I expected to find for a product I thought was obsolete.

True, the safety lock is not as good as the ones of long ago, but is better than a regular safety pin and seems to be good enough until my granddaughter is potty-trained.

Note about tip sharpness of these pins: I'm using homemade prefolds & birdsey diapers I made from my old flannel sheets, and that may be harder on the pins than the prefolds & birdseyes you buy....a couple of times the pins became difficult to push through (after many times of pushing through) but if the pin becomes dull or the tip gets bent, you can fix that by sharpening them on an emery board/nail file...i'd sharpen the pin, putting the tip on the file and running it downwards, turning the pin and filing more, checking visually by holding the pin in front of the t.v. and gently poking my finger on the sharp tip to know when it was sharp enough.

I bought these pins to use with prefold diapers and have found them to be terrible.

First, they are too blunt and hence useless. I had to use force to just push them through two layers of a prefold diaper. That is not something you can work with, especially when diapering a wiggly baby.

Second, these are too big to use on even a two year old so there is no way I can use them on an infant without them poking out.

Good bargain pricing for diaper pins that are functional and get the job done. The pins close easily and also open easily (when an adult desires to open them.) The pins are not quite as sharp as some vintage models of diaper pins, but these pins certainly are perfectly acceptable and easy to use when diapering your baby.

We use prefolds on our 7 month old, and the snappies don't hold our favorite bamboo/cotton diapers very well, so we usually use pins. I bought this pack thinking, "how much variation can there be in diaper pins? Surely one pin is as good as another." Not the case, I found out. These pins are like needles, seriously, not sewing needles, but like, you would use this level of sharpness for an intravenous injection. But! Even with the incredible sharpness (I'm serious, my husband, mother and I have drawn blood numerous times, and I'm so sad to admit, I even got my baby once), these things won't go through the diapers! I guess the circumference of the pin is much wider than the point, and it takes extreme force to get them through the diapers. Which is really frustrating when you have, you know, a normal baby who wiggles around during diaper changes. Quinny Yezz Stroller - Blue Loop

I received this stroller as part of a giveaway great timing, as we're just starting to look around for an umbrella stroller to complement my existing Britax B-Agile. Overall, I like this stroller a fair amount however, there are some flaws in the design that still need to be worked out, perhaps since it's a very new product.

The big selling point of the Yezz is that it's very lightweight and can fold down into a compact package that you can then sling over your shoulder. This is definitely true -its light (around 11+pounds) and when folded, looks like a big metal tripod. The design is pretty ingenious and it's definitely carry-able. The Yezz is also incredibly maneuverable (better than almost any other stroller I've tried out) you can steer easily with one hand, and it makes a tight almost 360 degree turn. That, coupled with the Yezz's narrow and compact vertical profile, makes it very easy to maneuver around corners or people. On a smooth stretch of road, it feels like you're practically dancing with the stroller! I was also originally concerned that it might be flimsy, and that the seat would be too "floppy" to properly support my child. However, the frame seems sturdy, and the canopy is stretched taut in such a way that the seat seems comfortable and fits around the baby in a snug hammock-like effect. This is definitely a plus my baby is still a little small for my full-size stroller and tends to slump to one side, the Yezz appears to correct this problem. However, once the ground gets uneven or gravelly, it's a bumpier ride. I did feel that it ended up being less bumpy than I expected, given how light and compact the Yezz is, and my baby didn't seem to mind. I wouldn't suggest using this on sand or extremely rocky roads though. The Yezz has a very nice canopy cover, with a clever drop-down visor that helps cut out even more sunlight. I do wish that there was a mesh "window" in the cover so that you can see your baby though it. The material is a lightweight nylon that seems easy to wipe, and good for warmer weather. You can even switch out the color of your canopy if you'd like, which is a cute customizable option as the Yezz has really gorgeous bright colors that really make it stand out in a crowd.

What I don't like about this stroller -the opening up and folding down motion is EXTREMELY STIFF. This is a major problem for me, since it defeats the whole purpose of being able to handle the stroller one-handed. The instruction videos online makes it seem like it folds out very easily, with just a small push of the leg. NOPE it takes a lot of strength (even my husband had problems) to push the foot bar such that the stroller would latch open. The solution we've found to make it slightly easier (still hard though) is not to use your entire foot on the bar, but only to perch your toes right on the horizontal lower bar (this will make more sense if you actually see the Yezz). For some reason, this changes the angle of the force you exert, which makes the Yezz easier to open. Same difficulties with folding it down -I can't do it with my foot alone, instead, I need to crouch down (with my hand on the "push" button on the handle bar) and push the mechanism close. After you get past that initial push, it's relatively easy to fold down the frame and tuck the canopy away, but wow, it's really quite a chore to get it going. So much for the one-step fold. I really hope that over time and with more use, the mechanism will get looser and make the YEZZ easier to use. Another problem is that the brake (on the right back wheel) doesn't seem very strong in "locking" the stroller in place -you can essentially dislodge the braking mechanism if you start pushing the stroller forward. No storage area, except a pocket at the back, which you can only use for small things and be careful that it doesn't dig into your child's back. I also wouldn't dangle anything off the stroller handles. Another small peeve of mine the Yezz's crotch strap is a fixed length and doesn't adjust -you need to change the shoulder straps to fit your baby. This is somewhat annoying because as your baby grows older, the buckle will have to go lower and lower, and it's a bit of a tight fit.

Overall, I like the stroller enough to keep using it and to put up with the difficulty of opening and closing. But if you're buying for the convenience of the over-the-shoulder carry, and the maneuverability (huge advantages, especially for urban city-dwellers and frequent airplane travellers), just be prepared that getting it open and close is a real hassle. I'll update this review after I've used it for a while to let you know if the stiffness improves!

WOW! Stylish, functional, and lightweight! I truly LOVE this stroller and I wish I would've bought this first instead of wasting my time with the cheap umbrella strollers. This stroller is worth every penny. It pushes like a dream...you could steer it with your pinky finger. I love that you can buy different colors if you get bored of the color or it gets too dirty. You just clip the new "colored" part onto the frame. It is easy to set up out of the box as it comes assembled. The color is a true aqua. In my opinion perfect for a boy or girl. I also like the fact that the wheels don't get worn down easily by rough pavement or stones. Great purchase!

I looked everywhere for a lunch container/ bento box for my 4 year old. This is perfect: easy to open, nice size, lids fit well. Really happy with the set.

I bought this for myself, after having weight loss surgery; I needed something that would hold smaller portion sizes. This works perfectly. You have to be careful if you use anything that is really "juicy" as the smaller lids don't seal perfectly. I put grapefruit in juice in one and it leaked out of the smaller container into the main compartment, but because everything was in its own little covered container nothing got wet. Great substitute for a bento box!

We have 2 of these and they are just perfect for my Toddler. Lids seal nicely and stay on, as appropriate for her age, the teacher opens them for her. We started using them around 12months old when she decided only solids would do. I can fit half a sandwhich on one side (without the large insert)or with the large insert 2 meatballs, or sliced chicken breast, in the two little inserts I put sides like peas or blueberries, diced strawberries or pasta, and there's still room on top to slip a slice of cheese. Sometimes I need an extra side, so I steal one of the inserts from my second set, but I love these. My daughter is now 19months and this is still just the right size. In fact I find it very helpful in making her lunch and using the compartments as a guide for how much food and variety of foods to include.

The two larger containers are of decent size for sending lunch to school. I'd guess you could fit 5 or 6 grapes into each of the two smaller containers -pretty much useless. If I'd have realized that they were this small, I'd have bought something else.

KidCo BabySteps Deluxe Food Mill with Travel Tote

I purchased this food mill hoping it would grind food better than my old one (which is also made by KidCo.) It does grind the food, BUT it leaves a large mass of unground food at the bottom when you're done. I think this is there to ensure no bones, cartilage, etc. get through. I never intend on putting anything with bones in the food mill anyways! I also do not like the shape of the top of the grinder. I know it's elongated so it travels more easily, but its shape makes it difficult to get all of the ground food out. The rubber gasket does not seal as well as the old model's, either. I have to take it off every time I wash it as food gets stuck underneath. The handle could be a bit longer too, but it has to be short so the cover fits on it.

Aside from the negative aspects of the food mill, I do like that it has a metal grate with blade, rather than plastic. My older food mill has a plastic grate. If I could combine my old food mill with a metal grate/blade, I would be much happier! I'm not sure why KidCo went to a plastic grate, but I'll continue using the deluxe food mill only because of the metal grate/blade and because it grinds food pretty well.

If you have some extremely soft food, like say, steamed to death carrots, this thing is awesome, providing you don't mind getting carrot juice everywhere. If you want to use this to grind anything else, forget it. I bought this with the intention of using it at the dinner table to grind a small amount of the dinner I had prepared for our baby. In addition to needing to put in a LOT of extra food (there is a large area that is not ground up and stays in the tubea lot of waste), it leaks if the food is juicy, and quite simply, it cannot handle slighty firm food (tried very tender filet mignon; almost impossible). That's not fair, actually. If you want to burst a blood vessel and break your arm trying, you might get some firmish food ground, but not much, and there is a lot of work with little payoff. Also, the metal leaves some weird, dark residue on the food, even after multiple washings, both by hand and dishwasher. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it. Spend a few extra dollars and buy the Kidalog one. You will lose all the problems and get all the benefits of a manual baby food grinder. Sure, it's larger and lacks the super stylish carrying case, but hey, guess what? It works!

I think maybe the normal plastic mode of this baby food mill can leave no steel or iron residue from the blade. For foods with long fiber and juice it does not work well. However, if you just wish to mill the foods like rice or eggs, it is perfect.

I bought this when my son was six months and used it almost daily for the next six-eight months. Was very happy with this product. After a little steaming to soften up the veggies or fruit in question, this mill did a great job of pureeing. One round of grinding did leave some residue behind, but I would typically add water (veggie) or formula (fruit) and give it another round. Was able to leave behind very little fiber after two rounds. The puree does not turn out to be extremely smooth like store bought versions, especially for veggies such as beans, but worked very well for most other fruits and veggies.

Would highly recommend this.

After doing a lot of research online I came across a Consumer Reports study where they tested rice products. Out of the baby cereal's that were tested, Beech-Nut had the lowest level of arsenic. Earth's Best came in 2nd and Gerber had the highest levels. What we also liked was that this cereal didn't contain soy, they use sunflower lecithin which is a lot better for you than GMO soy. I wish this company made a baby formula that was soy free.
