Green Eats 4 Pack Feeding Spoons and Forks , Yellow

Green Eats 4 Pack Feeding Spoons and Forks , YellowWe are making our best effort to purchase items that are made in the USA (or more specifically not made in China). It was a difficult task to find baby spoons everything on the shelf at my local Target & BRU was from China. :( So, we were excited to find this set on amazon made in the USA from recycled milk jugs.

They have worked out great! We have been using them since our son starting eating solids at 4 months old. They are lightweight and I like the size. As others have stated, they are a little short for certain baby food packages, but most of the time I am feeding out of a bowl so it isn't a big deal for me.

The spoons and forks are probably the right size for beginning eater or little one learning how to self feed. They are much too small for my 19 MO. and/or 3 YR. The spoons are actually the same as the ones included in the tea set by this same company....i love them in the tea set just not so much for a meal.

I like that this company is making safer plastic dinnerware for children. It is a step up. However, no one is thinking about what the plastic is made out of aside from BPA, phthalates, melamine, PVC, or other known harmful synthetics. These are just some that have been brought out into the open, there are likely more that haven't been tested yet. There is one obvious problem with this plastic that everyone is overlooking (the rage is all about BPA mainly right now), and that is the fact that the main ingredient to make this plastic is petroleum. I'm not convinced that these are "green" dishes being that #2 plastic does not break down in the environment and petroleum...well I can't imagine eating food off of solidified/modified petroleum. Not to mention the other synthetics that have yet to be mentioned. #2 plastic is considered one of the safest plastics, but considered doesn't mean guaranteed safe. There are better options out there (especially for the current high price of these!). Stainless steel and tempered glass dinnerware for kids are alternatives to plastic. Stainless steel might be a better bet for very young children since even tempered glass can break if impacted hard enough. Plastic is plastic, some are better than others, but all plastic has its hazards. Let's face it, we wouldn't be looking at "Green Eats" dishware if we weren't concerned about what our children are eating off of.

These are the perfect size for beginner eaters. Our little guy used the spoons (mostly for eating yogurt) more than the forks. I wish they sold an 8-pack of just spoons
