The Sili Squeeze with Eeeze

The Sili Squeeze with Eeeze, Citrus Orange 4 Oz.This washes great. Just throw it in the dishwasher and it comes out like new. The problem with it though is that it does not collapse enough to get the baby food out. The center squeezes and some food comes out the top, but much of the food squishes down to the sides and base and just stays there. If you are willing to fill it totally full and waste 75% of the food, it would work. To fully get all the food out, it really needs to collapse flat. I would recommend buying a different product that is made from a thinner material. They are harder to clean, but they actually work!

I bought this product for my one year old because she is currently refusing to eat from a spoon. She is very independent and insists on self-feeding. She likes the store bought pouch purees, but until now I have been making my own baby food. Her refusal to eat from a spoon has meant buying baby food (ick) The sili squeeze has allowed me to return to making homemade baby food while also allowing my daughter to have her independence.

I would not suggest this product for a child younger than one. My daughter struggled to eat out of store bought pouches until about two weeks ago, and that was only because she didn't understand how to drink from a spout type opening. Cap is a little hard to get off, which is great, because it would be awful if she got it off and squirted food everywhere. A child would not be able to get the cap back on, but then again, I would never let her use this unsupervised because she will likely make a mess of things like this for several years. Never had the problems some have said with child not getting all the food out and there being waste. My older child empties the sili squeeze and all that is left is the residue that would also be left in similar store bought pouches. It is impossible to get ALL of the food out of any pouch without parental assistance, and the waste is minimal. (Much like the residue from a baby jar of food, unavoidable!!)

Spout is not straight, curves in one direction, which my daughter seems to have an easier time with, unlike the straight spout on store bought pouches.

Note: I would also like to say that it comes with a piece of paper in the bottle that says specifically: "Not intended for unsupervised feeding," which would apply to situations in which a child might be at...say school. Don't let the child's difficulty with the cap dissuade you from this product, it is NOT INTENDED for use WITHOUT SUPERVISION.

Great bottle, we are very pleased with it!!

I really appreciate the ability to make healthy "on-the-go" snacks for my 20 month old son.

Pros:

*6 oz size, larger than some of the pre-packaged versions of the "purees"

*Cap is not easy to lose

*Cap does not detach easily, so even if young toddler gets the Sili squeeze, they cannot necessarily open it.

*Easy to assemble and clean.

*Colors are awesome.

*Not "baby" looking, so it would be acceptable for elementary-aged kids to use in school lunches.

Cons:

*It is difficult to get the "last ounce" out of the sili squeeze, as it gets stuck at the bottom. **I did not take off a star from this, as it seems like each time my son uses this, he is getting more and more efficient at "sucking" while squeezing.**

We use a vitamix to make baby food for our 5month old, and smoothies for our 2 1/2 year old. We don't have a problem with having left over purée in the sili, they're pretty much empty. It is very easy to clean and Eco friendly! And come in fun colors! AND I can sneak all sorts of veggies into my daughters tummy and she keeps asking for more!!

We also don't a problem with the lid, my 2 1/2 year old snaps it on/off no problem.

I highly recommend sili squeeze!

I have used commercial pouches, the little green pouch, and the sili squeeze. The sili squeeze has been great! It is easy to clean and cleans well. The only down side is that the sili squeeze has several parts and is a little pricey. Overall though, it is an excellent product and I love that my toddler happily sucks down fruits and veggies!

green sprouts 3-12 Months Daily Waterproof Absorbent Bib, 7 Pack

green sprouts 3-12 Months Daily Waterproof Absorbent Bib, Girl, 7 PackI purchased these bibs after buying the regular Green Sprouts bibs with the velcro closure. I like the that quality and waterproof feature of these bibs. They are absorbent and still protect the childs clothing. However, the cannot under any circumstances be used for anything other than feeding and then immediately removed.

The strap that goes around the child's neck is very stretchy and I already have seen my infant pull the bib out and let it go. When she lets it go it twists and crosses the stretchy strap. Too many twists and this bib could definitely be choking your child. Stay with the Green Sprouts classic bibs with the velcro closure at the back.

If I could make a suggestion to the manufacturer it would be to put the velcro closure on the side to help avoid baby's neck from getting scratched by the bib.

I really wanted to love these bibs. They are big, water resistant and cute. But first, the strap was too long, even with the elastic; there was a big gap between my baby's neck and the bib itself. And worse, after one wear, the elastic was so stretched out, she could have easily gotten it wrapped around her neck. Don't like to write negative reviews, but unfortunately felt it was needed on this one.

Beaba Babycook Travel Bag in SorbetProtects the Beaba well and makes it much easier to travel with. I have made ALL of my son's baby food, and now use it daily to steam pasta, rice or vegetables for his meals now that he is older. Because of this, the case and Beaba travels with me frequently! It is however extremely expensive for what it is. I paid around $50.00 for it. Don't regret the purchase, however it should be priced lower for what it truly is...a case.

Babys Only Organic Dairy Formula Case

Babys Only Organic Dairy Formula CaseMY QUESTION FOLLOWED BY THEIR REPLY VERY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Hey guys,

So we are trying to feed a new born as much breast milk as we can, however there is not enough to meet his nutritional needs.

So a formula is in order as a supplement. With that, we are interested in your toddler formula, and it appears that since this meets the FDA Infant Formula Guidelines, that it should be safe, (and opinions on the Internet seem to feel the same way). However, our doctor says that it should not be used because of the higher amounts of calcium and phosphorous. He was also concerned about using the DHA/ARA supplement with concerns about the egg white process and that the proteins in egg whites are not good for an infant. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

THEIR ANSWER

Dear Dave,

Thank you for contacting Nature's One®. Firstly, you are correct in that our Baby's Only Organic® formulas meet the nutritional requirements of the FDA's Infant Formula Act. No dilution is needed for babies under 12 months of age. Please follow label mixing instructions.

Regarding the calcium and phosphorous content in Baby's Only Organic® formulas, calcium is an essential nutrient needed for bone health. The American Academy of Pediatrics Expert Panel for Nutrient Levels in Infant Formula has provided recommendations on the amount of calcium with the minimum per 100 Calories being 50 milligrams and the maximum being 140 milligrams per 100 Calories. Phosphorus is another important mineral for bone health. The Expert Panel has also recommended that the calcium to phosphorus ratio in an infant formula be no less than 1.1 or more than 2.0. Baby's Only Organic® falls within these ranges with our calcium at 135 milligrams per 100 Calories and a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.5.

Reference: Committee on Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition Handbook, The American Academy of Pediatrics, 2009, pages 1245-1246.

The balance between calcium and phosphorus is most important for bone development. The calcium to phosphorus ratio in both Baby's Only Organic® formula and Enfamil NextStep is 1:5. Thus, Baby's Only Organic® formulas provide an appropriate ratio of calcium and phosphorus for toddlers and an appropriate overall quantity of calcium and phosphorus.

Regarding our Baby's Only Essentials® DHA/ARA supplement, The DHA utilized in our Baby's Only Essentials® DHA & ARA supplement is sourced from egg yolk phospholipids. You are probably aware that most often an egg allergy is caused by the egg white rather than the yolk. Additionally, it is the protein component of foods that usually elicit an allergic reaction. Because we use the phospholipids (not protein) from the egg yolk, there is only a very minute chance that an allergic response will ensue.

If your child has a history of allergies, we highly recommend that you consult your child's healthcare provider.

DHA is also found naturally in other foods, including oily fish like trout, sardines, tuna and salmon and the yolk of eggs. Dietary ARA is available from animal meats, dairy foods, eggs, peanuts and nori seaweed. As your child increases the variety of foods in her diet, you can include some of these foods in her diet. Other natural sources of DHA would include fish oil or fish oil supplements. Unfortunately, it is difficult to insure that these are free from mercury or other environmental toxins. But, also remember that these fatty acids can be formed from dietary linoleic and linolenic acids (nuts, seeds, grains legumes, vegetables and their cold-pressed oils). By including good sources of high quality fats in the diet, your child will easily be able to meet her specific needs

Most egg allergies are a result of ingestion of egg white; egg yolk allergies are rare.

Proteins are the component of foods that cause allergic reactions. Egg allergy is usually due to the proteins in the egg white. These protein allergens are: ovomucoid, ovalbumin, ovotransferrin; lysozyme, and ovomucin.

However, there can be a rare situation of egg yolk allergy. The literature to date usually associates egg yolk allergy to a reaction triggered by inhaled bird allergen, referred to as Bird-egg syndrome. This is a very rare syndrome.

Egg allergy can also be seasonal. Oak pollen, short and western ragweed and the goosefoot family of weeds may cross react with eggs when these pollens are in season.

The estimated point prevalence of egg allergy in children is 1.6% by 2.5 years of age. (1) Again, egg white is usually the cause of an egg allergy. Most children outgrow an allergy to eggs by 5 years of age.

(1) Eggesbo M, Botten G, Halvorsen R, Magnus P, "The prevalence of allergy to egg: a population-based study in young children," Allergy 56; 5:403

I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you for your interest in Baby's Only Organic® formulas. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,

Lori

Nature's One Inc.

It's so nice that it's not filled with things that should just NOT be in formula.

No ingredients are purchased from China.

Contains no palm oil.

I also am impressed that they don't use corn syrup to sweeten their formulas. It's brown rice syrup which is a better carbohydrate than most use.

In response to no added DHA/ARA this is found on their website so it is not lacking.. and who wants DHA/ARA made by martex which is derived from laboratory-grown fermented algae and fungus and processed utilizing a toxic chemical, hexane anyway?

Baby's Only Organic® pediatric formulas contain two essential (precursor) fats: Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) and Linoleic Acid (LA). Alpha-Linolenic and Linoleic fatty acids are called "essential" because the human body cannot make these fats and therefore it is essential to derive them from food sources. Alpha-Linolenic Acid is an omega-3 used by the body to make Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Linoleic Acid is an omega-6 used by the body to make Arachidonic Acid (ARA). DHA and ARA are called "non-essential" fatty acids because full-term, healthy infants, children, and adults can manufacture these from Alpha-Linolenic and Linoleic fatty acids.

Buy Babys Only Organic Dairy Formula Case Now

Just to clear up some confusion here is the quote from the manufacture's website:

"Baby's Only Organic® Dairy-based Toddler Formula contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid (LA), the fatty acid precursors for Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Arachidonic acid (ARA)."

Conversion of ALA and LA by the body to the more active longer-chain metabolites is inefficient: 2-5% for DHA. So while adding ALA to your child's diet is helpful it is not a complete substitute for the ARA and DHA found in breast milk (of course no formula can match breast milk).

If you want to use this brand of formula you should consider adding DHA and ARA some other way. This same company makes a supplement called "Baby's Only Essentials® DHA & ARA" and there are others on the market.

We Loved the formula for our daughter. We supplemented my breastmilk with this from 6 wks to a year. It smelled much better than other formulas. I would highly recomend it. We had a nice plump, healthy, smart, organic baby!

Want Babys Only Organic Dairy Formula Case Discount?

I have been using Babys Only Organic Formula (dairy) for my daughter for 2 months now (she was 4 months old when we started) and I am absolutely thrilled with it.

Pros:

Very complete formula, superior nutritional value (more calcium!) than leading brands and YES, IT DOES CONTAIN DHA & ARA!!! (not like another reviewer says. Check out Nature's One website for more info).

It is less expensive than the leading brands!!

My daughter never had any problem digesting the formula, and is absolutely thriving on it :)

I tried Enfamil (what I used with my first child) and other brands of formulas, but she would not drink them. This is the only formula she has liked. It DOES taste (and smell!) better than the leading brands.

Cons:

It becomes foamy when you first shake the bottle to dissolve the powder, but the foam disappears if you let the bottle sit for a few minutes.

The powder dissolves better if you mix it in warm water.

Overall, a great formula that I have been recommending to many of my friends. :)

Dandelion Reusables Infant Bowl and Spoon

Dandelion Reusables Infant Bowl and SpoonI was given this set as a gift and was very excited because I loved the idea that it was made from corn. I went to wash the pieces before using them and the bowl completely snapped in half. I called the company where it was purchased from and they very graciously replaced it for me. I then came to realize that the pieces just can't stand up to any heat. They begin to melt under hot tap water. I don't know about anyone else, but I like to wash my dishes in hot water. They are too delicate to be practical. All in all a really nice idea, but they just aren't worth the money.

These spoons are great especially the toddler ones because it makes it easy for a toddler to feed themselves when they are learning. They have a nice deep center but they are also wide enough to hold the food without spilling. My daughter loves them!

I'm grateful that there is a company out there trying to improve on the plastics we see in baby gear these days. BPA, PVC, all that stuff...it becomes very daunting trying to find items that are safe but still appropriate for babies. I use this set on my 7 month old, who likes to chew the spoon and also grab the bowl more than eat the food in it. I plan on getting a couple of more sets. I just wish they had different color options.

Naturepedic Organic Cotton Contoured Changing Pad

Naturepedic Organic Cotton Contoured Changing PadIt's organic, it's truly durable and well made in the USAnot China!

It's easy to clean and it fits perfect on the changing table.

It's simply the best changing mattress on the market.

Yes, it is expensive but worth the money instead of having to

replace the cheap ones made with toxic chemicals every

couple of months (or weeks)read the reviews on any other ones, especially

the ones that seem like a bargain at under $50 bucks...

this is worth the money especially when it can be used for changing

multiple siblings, multiple times a day on a daily basis and you

don't see any signs of wear and tear. I used the one that came

with the changing table for 1 week and it had a tear in the center

of it and we even had a cover on the darn thing! You get what you pay for and

this company is sound.

This changing pad is very sturdy and appears to be comfortable for our baby. The contour is perfect in that it keeps him in, but is not too deep. Next to being in our arms, the changing table (with this changing pad) is our baby's favorite place to be. We have enjoyed hours of what we call "kick kick time on the table." I don't have another changing pad to compare it to, but I can say that this one is great and I expect it will last until we are out of the diaper phase! I also greatly appreciate that it is not toxic. It definitely feels natural, never had a chemical smell, etc.

Buy Naturepedic Organic Cotton Contoured Changing Pad Now

after countless hours of research to ensure my baby's nursery was as non-toxic as possible, i placed the Naturepedic Organic Cotton Changing Pad on my registry. i've been using the changing pad for 7 weeks and it does all i need it to do gives baby a comfortable place to lie while i change him. in addition to the changing pad, i purchased two changing pad covers from the same company (two for when one was in the wash). do NOT waste yours or anyone else's money. this changing pad is waterproof and slick so that if it gets dirty, you can simply wipe it down with soap and water or baby wipe. the changing pad covers are soft absorbent cotton so when they get dirty they're dirty and need laundered.

the reviewer that gave the changing pad 1 star has no common sense. i would never rely on the changing pad's belt or table snaps to secure my child. you NEVER, EVER take a steady, firm hand off the baby while s/he is on a high surface (such as a changing station) without safety rails (such as a crib) and for that reason, i've never utilized those features.

I was skeptical at first... I spent $300 on an organic mattress (made locally out of organic cotton and eco wool) and it's wonderful but do I really need to have an organic changing mat?

I decided to go ahead and get it and I'm so glad I have. There's so many things in baby world that you cannot buy organic car seat, stroller, bouncer, swing, play gym, high chair, etc... I figured I should do my baby a favor and get what I *can* organic.

We've been using this changing mat for five months, now, and I'm so pleased with it! It's very well constructed and looks brand new, still. It's cooshy and my baby is always very happy on it. He's managed to pee directly on it several times and it always wipes right off with no problems.

I almost spent another outrageous amount of money on some fitted organic cotton covers but we've just been using towels. We had a handful of older towels that have cycled through the 'master bath to guest bath to downstairs bath to sitting in the bottom of the linen closet' life cycle, so we just fold those in half and put them over the mat and it's good to go. We also have a handful of Snoozy Organic Flannel Cotton Waterproof Multi Use Pad 2 Pack that get tossed on there, too. Those work great if you feel like spending the money otherwise the towels work just fine!

Want Naturepedic Organic Cotton Contoured Changing Pad Discount?

This changing pad is great, but in hindsight I don't think I would spend $100 on a changing pad again.

Details: Sturdy, yet soft. Water-proof. Organic. Large enough to fit on the table we're using for a changing table and yet still have room for diapers etc. Neutral color. We also bought the $30 Naturepedic Organic Changing Cover.

I'm fairly frugal in my greenness so I'll use this Pad happily and put it away for the next little one. But, if I had to do it all over again, I would've purchased a Pad for half as much, and then put an organic cotton cover on it. Now that I see it in comparison to less-expensive, non-green Pads, I'm not sure I really see that much difference. And how much time is baby going to be on the Pad? It's not a crib mattress. Did we really need a $100 organic Pad to change diapers on? My thoughts...probably not.

Infantino Steam and Smush

Infantino Steam and SmushAbsolutely love! Bought for my 9 month old. And wish I bought it sooner. Makes making meal and snacks so easy. No instructions but you can figure it out. Would buy again!

The item steams well and mashes perfectly. I'm sure you could use a fork and bowl the the masher is way my comfortable especially with larger quantities and the ridges on the bowl and the hole sin the masher ensure you're getting a very smooth end product.

This is a fantastic product! Once the doctor gave us the go ahead with solids I went and got this at Toys R Us (for less than here). This product lets me make my baby's food right away a single serving or two servings in one shot. It is very washable. It is lightweight and doesn't have the PBA and other bad things in the platic.

The only thing that I do not like is that the cup is white and it stains with the foods that mash up for the baby. Other than that, I am willing to live with a yellow bowl in order to give him fresh foods. I wish that the bowl color was different, but you get a lot of things in this little box.

Making baby food shouldn't be a huge deal. Just cut up the food, add a little bit of water, and put into the microwave. Then take out the purple steamer part and mash away. Then the food is ready to eat. I will see how much I can go without purchasing any baby food and this little gadget will keep my little one as part of the family while eating the same foods that we do at the same time. :) Great product! :)

The Steam and Smush is a great little gadget for those wanting to make their own baby food. It allows small batches of cooked veggies and fruits to be steamed in the microwave rather than in a large pan on the stovetop . The smasher is then used to mash the food right in the steamer cup. The item is well made and works like advertise. And is a must for those wanting to make their own organic baby food.

When my son was 5 months old I started making his baby food. I'm not incredibly comfortable in the kitchen so I knew I didn't want any big food processor gadgets or any heavy machinery. I like to keep things simple and we learned pretty quickly that my son doesn't like puree's anyways so this little gadget has been perfect. I don't use the steam function of it because I steam all his food on the stove or bake in the oven but the smush part is perfect! I can get everything smushed up perfectly and clean up is a breeze. Just wish it was a little bit bigger. It's considerably bigger then the "fresh foods mash and serve bowl" but I still wish I could get more food in at once. Overall, great product and the only thing I use other than a steamer pot, oven, and stovetop to make all my baby's food.
