Baby Cereal - Buckwheat with Milk

Baby Cereal - Buckwheat with MilkMy son loves this cereal, we've been eating it for half a year already, mixing sometimes with oatmeal or wheat cereal, adding fruits to it. We've started to give the cereal when my baby was 6months old and never had an issue with allergy.

Cuisinart BFM-1000 Baby Food Maker and Bottle Warmer

Cuisinart BFM-1000 Baby Food Maker and Bottle WarmerI resolved before my daughter was born to make my own baby food for her when the time came. I read reviews for every other baby food maker I could find. So why did I end up buying a model that had not yet been reviewed, and was relatively expensive compared to the other, more common baby food makers?

First, I was looking for something superlatively efficient. I wanted consistent results from a compact machine. For the price I was willing to pay, the Cuisinart brand is a proven performer, and this machine lives up to the name. Admittedly, I've only had it a couple of weeks and used it a few times, but I'm very happy with the results so far. I've followed the directions exactly in terms of water amount and the size of the diced food I put in to be steamed, and the resulting puree has been perfectly consistent. I also love the efficiency of having all the steaming and pureeing in one bowl -just turning a 3-position dial couldn't be easier.

I haven't used the bottle warming function on this or any comparable machine.

I like the size it's about the size of a small coffee maker, like you might find in a hotel room. It has a small footprint and is unimposing on the countertop -it doesn't scream 'baby appliance.' I'd love a model in black or stainless, but I'm not crazy enough about aesthetics to mind.

Now, this isn't essential to the review, but a tidbit for those who will otherwise spend (waste) time wondering about the measuring cup like I did -as far as I can tell, the strange cylindrical indentation on the bottom serves a few purposes allows for easier measurement of the small amount of water needed for the bottle warming function, displaces enough volume in the main chamber of the cup so that the markings don't overlay the rubber strip, and sits slightly off-center in the bottom of the measuring cup so that it will be easier to pour water out of it when you use it to measure water for bottle-warming. For the OCD geek types out there, you're welcome. ;)

*UPDATE*

The machine is still performing superbly. I've now made an assortment of veggies, fruits, and meat purees and have yet to find a complaint about the consistency or function of the appliance. It's so easy to throw the bowl, blade, lid (and occasionally, measuring cup) in the top rack of the dishwasher.

I am incredibly happy to have run across this food maker. All I ever heard of were the brezza, beaba and baby bullet. I have friends who have each of them and they all had similar complaints.. The container was too small so they had to make several batches. When I saw the Cuisinart made 4 cups, I decided to give it a shot and I am so happy I did. Not only can I make larger batches but it is so easy and convenient.

You cut up the fruit or veggies, add some water to the steamer compartment (in accordance to what you are making..there is a chart in the instructions) and turn the knob to steam. After it is done steaming you simply turn it to chop and you are all set. It is perfectly puréed and ready for your baby. And cleanup is a breeze as well because you only have one bowl to clean.

I can't say enough amazing things about this food maker! Worth the money as it is a fabulous product.

When I first started making baby food, I used a Brezza, which I knew from friends and other reviewers was prone to breaking. Not surprisingly, my Brezza started to malfunction after 6 weeks. That's when I discovered the Cuisinart. I think it must be new to the baby food maker market because none of my friends had heard of it, and I couldn't find very many reviews about it, but I've had good experiences with other Cuisinart kitchen products so I crossed my fingers that the brand would live up to its high quality reputation. I'm happy to report that it has.

The food maker is really easy to use and clean. I love that it has a larger capacity (4 cup) container/bowl than other baby food makers, and it operates quickly and smoothly. In fact, I thought the product was defective after the first time I used it because I couldn't believe how quickly it had steamed my baby's butternut squash compared to the Brezza. When I opened the lid to check, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had indeed steamed the squash to my liking.

The Cuisinart baby food maker also looks like a kitchen appliance (as it should), and not like a toy, as other baby food makers do. Filling/emptying the reservoir is easy, and the dial has just three optionssteam, chop and off. My only (very minor) complaint is that there's always a small pool of water that collects between the bowl and the base after I use it. My guess is that the reservoir isn't lining up with the bowl precisely enough so that some steam is getting trapped between the parts. Since it's only water, it's not a big deal to clean-up and I use it on it on our granite kitchen countertop so leaks are not a problem, but if you're planning to use this on a surface that is not water resistant, then you should lay it on top of a towel.

I wish I had this product sooner so I didn't have to waste so much time with the Brezza, but I'm happy I have it now. I have not used the bottle warmer function since we had already purchased a bottle warmer, but it's a great idea to have one machine serve both functions.

This thing is great and Super easy to use!! Im so happy with it and it takes the hard work outta homemade baby food ;)

I received this as a Christmas gift just in time to start my baby on solids. As a mother of 3 it was really important to me to make my baby food, i cook for every other family member "why not my littlest one?" I searched around ALOT for a baby food maker that would be an "ALL IN ONE" type of device that would steam and puree, so i wasn't dirtying up alot of dishes and spending lots of time slaving away in the kitchen. There are few different brands available that provide this all in one type design (steam/puree) however there were a few hang ups with each one, poor customer service, poor design, mold, etc.... i debated so long and glad i did.

Enter Cuisinart to my rescue and just in time, came out with this product. I took a chance on this one for one reason...the name "Cuisinart" I banked on the fact that its a good company that has been around and I have been happy with all my Cuisinart purchases. I also knew that such a large company had to have decent customer service.

Im so glad i took the chance this product it is great, makes wonderful baby food and fast. i can make a 2 wk supply of baby food in a pretty short amount of time. Its so easy , impossible to mess it up and the manual includes directions/recipes for food to get you started and really all you would ever need to make. The puree is smooth too which is important and sometimes hard to achieve.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in making their own baby food. It would make a great baby gift :)

My wife did extensive research and insisted on this one after seeing negative reviews and recalls on all other baby food processors. We have been using it weekly for the past 3 months and have not had one problem with it. Our son is now 9 months old and loves eating all types of fresh veggies and fruits. When she makes a batch of food she stores it in green sprouts Polypropylene Freezer Cubes, Green and fills up 6-8 cubes with one batch. It is so easy to use that even I can help out and make my sons meals. You flip the switch to steam and then when the light goes off you blend it to the desired consistency.

Positive: Super easy to use

Meals are ready in about 30 minutes

Convenient

One container to deal with

Bottle warmer included but we rarely used this feature since we use glass bottles

Recipe book provided

Negative: Some water is transferred into the chamber where the food is being cooked. Apples seems to suffer this more than other fruit/veggie. My wife just added less water.

Naturepedic Non Waterproof Organic Cotton Flannel Pad Crib Fitted

Naturepedic Non Waterproof Organic Cotton Flannel Pad Crib FittedI was not impressed with this product for the price. I am VERY happy with my daughter's Naturepedic crib mattress though!!! I like that it is organic and that I don't have to worry about chemicals BUT the pad could use improvement. After several washes lumpy little lint balls formed between the 2 layers of fabric making it an uncomfortable sleeping surface. The company quickly shipped me a replacement pad free of charge. KUDOS for customer service! I imagine that the same thing might happen again though... we'll see.

This pad was worth the money to me because it protects my daughter's mattress without using vinyl or other synthetic materials. It also adds a little cushioning to her very firm mattress (though not nearly enough to be a suffocation hazard).

After having conducted tons of research on mattresses and mattress pads, I bought two of these flannel pads to go with our naturepedic mattress (the seamless 252 double firmness, which we love). The mattress is already waterproof, so we did not need a waterproof pad. In fact, I preferred a non-waterproof pad to increase breathability and less chance for a sweaty back for our baby. We also bought the naturepedic airflow pad, and two organic sheets. All products seem to be made well, except for these flannel pads. When opening up the package, poor stitching was the first thing that caught my eye. Little pieces of elastic were coming out from the elastic rim throughout the entire seam. When I opened up the second pad we ordered, it had the exact same problem. I was hoping it was just one poor item, but they both had the same issue. I had done extensive research and knew that it was going to be hard to find another non waterproof organic crib pad that was not too padded. I had found a good option with Greenbudsbaby, but theirs is quilted and much more padded than the naturepedic one, which I think for an infant is not a good option. I decided to try and stick with the pads I ordered and washed one pad to fit on the mattress. Then after one wash and tumble dry low (as it says on instructions), the pad was still far too big to fit around the mattress. I decided to go for the hot water option and the tumble dry hot option. After 3 cycles, the pad came out with a good size for the flannel part (which I love; the fabric is great) but the cotton sides are far too wide and long to fit properly around the mattress. The excess material on the sides seems like it could be a safety hazard for the baby. I think this pad seems to be made for a 8 or 9 inc mattress and not for the 6 inch mattress that we bought. Really too bad since we love all their other products.

Update a couple of hours later: After having washed the second pad -because I was still hoping that perhaps the first one was defectivethe second pad seems a lot better. The reason is that the elastic is a lot more tight than the first pad. In the first pad, the loose elastic is a huge factor in creating the excess fabric on the sides. The second pad is still more appropriate for an 7 or 8 inch mattress I would say, but at least it has a better fit than the first pad. After a close up look, we also discovered that the stitching of the second pad is a lot better than the first pad. So overall, the first pad I would call defective and give a 1 star but the second one is pretty good and I love the cotton flannel, is is so comfy, I would give it four stars (still not five stars since the fit on the sides could be more snug). So, I would have given the total product 2.5 stars, just because I feel I got one good pad and one defective pad for a total of 120 dollars (which is expensive if just one pad is good)

It took me a while to find this, a breathable non waterproof crib mattress cover. Why would anyone need a waterproof crib mattress cover if your crib mattress is already waterproof? So your baby sleeps in more plastic?

It is slightly padded and fits snug around the mattress. Perfect!

Want Naturepedic Non Waterproof Organic Cotton Flannel Pad Crib Fitted Discount?

The fabric is heavyweight, but she stitching is poor and side seams uneven, making it a poor fit on the mattress, especially with shrinkage. I would have exchanged it, but I needed one quickly. It would be better to make this as a flat sheet with elastic strip corners, or to put some stretch in the corners and/or enlarge the main panel. Then again, perhpas the one I received was defective. In my opinion, poor workmanship makes this a waste of this very useful fabric.

Gerber Graduates Yogurt Melts Mixed Berries - 1.0 oz. (8 Pack)

Gerber Graduates Yogurt Melts Mixed Berries - 1.0 oz.I just purchased a pack of these on sale for 2.11 at Target. My 6 month old daughter seemed to really like them and she was able to easily navigate them without choking. They melt pretty quick. I tasted one and thought it tasted pretty good. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that they are tad to0 big in my opinion for a baby. I would rather see smaller pieces..... but we will buying again.

I was super excited to see these at Safeway for only $3. I have seen them at other places for as much as $4.50 and the competitor, Happy Melts Yogurt Melts, on sale for $5. I have to say, go with the Happy Melts version. The Gerber ones lack the flavor and texture of the Happy Melts version. Happy Melts are all organic and are smaller, which is better for your baby and for you. I prefer the strawberry flavor but the wildberry is also quite good.

Gerber Graduates Puffs, 1.48-Ounce Canisters (Pack of 6)

Gerber Graduates Strawberry & Apple Puffs, 1.48-Ounce CanistersWhen we first started giving these to our daughters we had to keep a very close eye on them(as with any solid food) because sometimes they would start choking and we would have to stick our fingers in their mouths and get these out.

These do 'dissolve' pretty easily but your baby may take a little getting used to eating them like mine did. But in no time they knew how to eat these with OUT choking. I think at first they were just trying to swallow them before they got wet and 'dissolved'.

We have bought Walmart Store Brand & these Gerber Puffs. Walmart Brand is Good but Gerber brand is GREAT! The Gerber Puffs are bigger making them easier for tiny fingers to pick them up, yet they are still a small enough size for them to eat. Walmart Brand have a lot of broken pieces so many of the pieces are tiny and my girls can't pick them up to eat them, I don't know that I have ever found a broken Gerber piece. I think Gerber stays fresh longer, it seems not too long after I open a Walmart Brand they are stale feeling.

Since I have twins we go through these fast so we've found it much cheaper to order them in bulk.

These keep my girls happy while my husband and I eat or get things done. Even if I have just fed my girls, if they see us eating they will have a fit. We put some puffs on their walker or high chair trays and they are Happy again. We even pour these in their play pen & they don't even make a mess. At a restaurant if my girls are getting fussy, we'll keep giving them puffs and they are happy. We give them puffs while we are heating their food, if not they'll normally throw fits until we are feeding them.

We've tried the Gerber flavors: Bananna, Strawberry/Apple, Apple Cinnamon & my girls love them all.

Excellant value as opposed to buying at the local supermarket. Just the right size to be able to allow my grandson to have control, At the moment this is his favorite food

i should have tried this flavor before buying bulk here. my daughter loves puffs in general and she really liked the sweet potato ones we got before this one. but the apple cinnamon flavor is a little too 'artificial' and strong. instead of grabbing them by the handful, she doesn't seem too interested to eat these..

my toddler loves them, they are convenient, perfect for sitters house or on the go,and my boy likes all of them.walmart has them under 3 a canister i think.i usually get them there.my star review is based o how much sugar they have.i prefer to give my kid flavored cheerios, they have less sugar and better on price, they just don't melt in your mouth or come in a convenient can.besides the sugar and price,i love them.but i do pretty much use all of the gerber toddler stuff for on the go,and when i am home i try to use a different sub, like cereal, yogurt or what ever the mainproduct is for that specific gerber item.my dad and babysitter pretty much love to have these on hand for mess free convenience though.

Seventh Generation Free and Clear Baby Diapers, Packaging May Vary

Seventh Generation Free & Clear DiapersI just want to make sure everyone realizes what's happening here. The old Stage 3 Subscribe & Save package was for 4 boxes of 35 diapers (140 diapers). Those boxes haven't been sold in stores in months. Seventh Generation switched to 31-diaper boxes that supposedly fit better and velcro together better. Doubtful. Regardless, this value pack is for 155 diapers, which is now 5 boxes of 31 diapers, instead of 4. At my local grocery store, a single box of 31 diapers costs $13-$14. That means a 5-pack of those boxes at retail price would be $65-$70. The Subscribe & Save price is $40. That's a fantastic deal, in my mind. It's still more expensive per diaper than the old deal, but that's because Amazon eventually was going to run out of boxes of the old diapers that they had stockpiled. Now that they are forced to buy the new Seventh Generation packages, it will be a bit pricier.

We used these diapers for the last year-and-a-half. We recently received a new shipment. After one day, we quickly realized that the diaper was very different.

The first night using the newly-formulated diaper it failed and did not withhold urine from getting all over the toddler and bed. This was the first time this had happened in four or five months,

The next day, we realized that what at first appeared to be the diaper disintegrating all over the child were actually the chemical liner forming beads on the child's skin leading to redness. In 17 months of using the prior formulation, this had never happened.

Clearly, 7th Generation has been re-formulating (while concurrently increasing their prices) to cut costs and increase profits at the expense of the consumer. They have changed the packaging to be more striking, perhaps to obscure the fact that the contents are now so inferior.

I am returning these products (along with the terrible, newly formulated baby wipes) and moving on to another brand.

If you have an existing subscription beware you will not be receiving the product that you signed up for originally.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We cloth diaper during the day but use disposables at night and camping or long roadtrips. I would not buy any other brand but Seventh Generation! They disclose all of their ingredients (including the fact that the diapers are actually brownish in color because they add a brown pigment, not because of the fact that they do not use chlorine bleach, although that is also true) and the purpose behind each. The company is always striving to lighten their footprint and this new design is awesome! It's redesigned core uses less of the wood pulp. The resulting diaper is much thinner. We miss the cushiony feel of the puffier design. I noticed absolutely no difference in absorbancy..my 15month old can wear one all night without leaking a bit! The new design seems longer/taller so you have to be careful to get the diaper on straight, otherwise the possibility for leaking is there. The company also states that the redesigned core results in more efficent absorbing, but do not make mention if they've increased the amount of Sodium Polyacrylate (SAP), the absorbing gel. My guess is yes. I have noticed gel crystals stuck to her bottom on occasion, which neverused to happen. That bothers me but I can say it's been much worse in other brands, including Whole Foods private label brand which ALWAYS left the SAP beads stuck to her, even if she only peed once in the diaper. Just recently it seems they've changed their design again. I can tell they're cutting corners on the stretchy tabs. A few years ago, they were a dream, but now they're a pain. I've had them tear off on multiple occasions, rendering the diaper useless.

So, yes, the new design is money saving for the company and a tad disappointing but, this is still the best option we've found.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I do prefer the packaging of the 135 pack as it's somewhat more sustainable and much easier to store (slide right under the crib). I would love to use 7th generation diapers exclusively and I do feel that the put a lot into the consistency of the products.

I have looked at these diapers as an alternative to conventional disposables for sometime (day care won't let us use our cloth diapers there). I have been skeptical of the Seventh Generation products because I didn't want to pay for a product that was going to perform poorly in comparison to my normal diapers (I have always gone with Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers and have loved them). After using these diapers around the clock here are mine (and my wife's) observations.

Fit: They fit great compared to the normal diapers we use. My daughter is 25 lbs and she fits snugly in size 4 with no leaks.

Smell: Some of the other reviewers complained about a weird smell, but we have both found that the mask the pee smell better than our usual diapers

Absorbency: These work great. We haven't had any blowouts and we have had zero leaks with overnight use.

Irritation: We have noticed less irritation and diaper rash as a result of these diapers.

General ease of use: I found them to be less bulky and easier to put on than standard diapers. I also found that the baby had more room in her outfits without the normal bulk and she seems to be able to wiggle her legs more.

I rated them a 4 instead of 5 simply because of the price. I am going to have a hard time justifying the additional expenditure, but I do feel that Seventh Generation offers a superior product here. I will say that I was disappointed to find out that the off-white color is a result of dying and that they are still a bleached paper product (they just use a different chemical process this is stated on the bottom of the bag).

Want Seventh Generation Free and Clear Baby Diapers, Packaging May Vary Discount?

Ugh, I have used these diapers for all three of my kids over the past 8 years. I am very familiar with how they should perform in all sizes. I just ordered a new case, size 4, through Amazon and immediately noticed big changes. First, the tabs are smaller (feel shorter) and now they do not secure the waist like the past diapers. The last case of size 4, the tabs could touch and I just finished up using them. This now causes the diaper to sag and gap, especially in the rear. Also, the material inside the diaper gets all bunched up, causing the diaper to sag in between my son's legs after just a couple of hours. Since my son is over 2, he can usually wear a diaper longer, but, with these you have to change them every 2-3 hours, soiled or not, because the sag is so heavy and the diaper is so bunchy. If he is active or sweaty, it bunches even faster. If you try them you will know what I mean. I noticed it right away. Seriously considering returning these. Will not be buying them ever again unless they switch back to the old version. So disappointing because I have been using these for years with great success in the past. And btw, I never write reviews, but, I am so unhappy with these, I had to share.

Great packaging at an awesome convenience and competitive price.

It is not something we rely on, but rather a travel or to-go snack item. It is a much better option than McDs or luncheon meat/processed meat for food on the go.

Review specifically for CHICKEN & STARS:

It is all personal preference and toddlers are of course notoriously fickle and picky, but our baby girl has loved this flavor since she was one and she is going on 4. We have tried many other brands and flavors (Gerber, Plum, etc.) and this is her go-to savory combo. She has graduated to 2 jars at a time now.

PACKAGING

The packaging has really improved. They used to just have the bottles sitting side by side on a cardboard tray with bubble-wrap all around. Instead they have the bottles sitting in an impressively designed and sturdy cardboard box.

Amazon price is very competitive and availability is sometimes an issue for us. All in all, we are very happy with the service and product!

A lot of baby foods have oatmeal in them, but many of them puree it into unrecognizable mush. This is one of the preferred oatmeal's for my son because the texture is true to oatmeal that an adult would eat. It also has a delicious apple cinnamon taste and smell to it, which he seems to love.
