Green Eats Divided Tray

They say as we grow into our twilght years we often revert to child-like behavior. While I'm years away from Social Security, the desire to eat my food in nifty little toddler-approved compartments--with fewer bowls and plates to clean-makes tv tray style dining quite appealing. And as an adult who still gets a little hissy over side dishes running into the main course, I thought I'd order a few divided trays. Of the 3 I bought here on Amazon, this one is my favorite.

I tried a hardcore option, the BIA Divided Tray (as featured in a trendy magazine/site that sells Goods that are Un Common). It is heavy, can be placed directly into an oven, and is by far the most chic of my test tray purchases. But if you drop it? Good Heavens, it weighs like six pounds! But I think it's won design awards and the craftsmanship of the natural stoneware is impressive. Did I mention the BIA weighs as much as a baby walrus? The Green Eats is lightweight, won't send you to the ER if you drop it, and, most shocking of all, divides your food. And just as well as any foreign award winning divided tray. Yay! They're equals in division. But the BIA costs 2X more...though fo sho it's the tray of discriminating, classy couch potatoes.

My 2nd tray is the metal and very utilitarian Winco SMT-2 Mess Tray. Doesn't just hearing that name transport you right back to your favorite summer in prison?? Ah, good times. This tray is much better than the Green Eats tray in that when you bang it against the table, it offers a very satisfying and resounding 'clink!'! The Winco SMT-2 has more divisions, making it a great option for civilians who like a lot of condiments and dipping sauces. Like law-abiding me. However, it grows warped very quickly, thus not sitting flat on any given hard surface. So having my left side peas sit up 2 inches higher than my right side mashed potatoes feels unjust and, I fear, riot-inducing. The Green Eats tray has remained level. I ordered in blue which is also nice and soothing. They say.

In closing, I tried out the competition and due to its BPA-free recylced plastic, lightweight but durable design, dishwasher hardiness, and attractive appearance the Green Eats tray proved victorious. I can mix and match my food as I see fit--no touching allowed. (Which should really be the Winco's SMT 2's slogan). Divided food makes moms and toddlers happy and picky 37-year-olds too. I am withholding one star because my sole gripe with the tray it's just not quite deep enough...it's forcing a bit of portion control. Not always a bad thing. I think if Green Eats would add a bit of non-slip material to the bottom-as yes, this tray can get slippery... tho no silly, I don't play with my food--then you'd have yourself a 5 star product.

I have been using divided plates with my three kids for several years, but now that my oldest is 7, the portion size on the plates was getting too small. So I was very excited to find these larger divided dishes. Now I can get my son the correct portions the first time instead of having to give him several helpings. I also love the fact that its made with recycled materials and not melamine. The only drawback is that you cannot cut on them. Its true because I cut some chicken on one of them and it still has the scratches. BUT, small price to pay for great, eco-friendly plates. They do fit in the dishwasher. We also have the cups and small bowls from this company and really like them as well. They are all well made and were thoughtfully designed. I bought the plates on Amazon and the bowls and cups at a local eco-friendly store. Amazon's price was slightly better, and with Prime its delivered right to my door, so any new pieces I buy will be from Amazon.

Great style. Good sized bins for main item and 3 sides. No soggy sandwiches. Large and stable for eating both at the table and away. Made in USA from recycled products. Not microwave safe, but dishwasher safe.

We go to a monthly potluck and this tray provides a lot of room to fill with the various foods. It goes in the dishwasher and I like that it is made with recycled products.

The First Years Smartwarmer

I did my research on bottle warmers and settled on the Baby Pro Smart Warmer. I love how it's customizable and you only have to press one button after you set it up. The buttons are self explanatory and it heats the formula quickly. There is no need to refill water everytime you use it, just once in awhile. You do have to play around to find the best settings but after that, you just press one button.

The only thing that is problematic is that the beeping is very loud, although there is an option to turn it off. I leave it on so I can know when it's done when I'm in another room.

I purchased this at a store, foolishly not reading the reviews beforehand. Setting it appropriately is non-trivial, especially when you have to explain it to anyone. When properly set, milk and formula warmth is inconsistent. Sometimes it is scalding, sometimes it doesn't seem to warm at all. Generally it under-warms, so we have to set it a higher setting and then run the bottles under cold water afterwards to insure a usable temperature. I've had the product completely fail to work on a couple occasions, which have required unplugging it to reset it. At 3 am, I want to be able to throw a bottle into the warmer, hit the start button and come back when it's ready and know that it's ready, which I can't do with this product.

I have used this bottle warmer for about a year now and it has suddenly started to leak on the bottom. I looked underneath it and realized there is a crack because the screw used to hold the plastic together has rusted and caused a line crack in the plastic. Of course it is out of warranty now. Prior to this, I had the same warmer but returned it to the store since the electronics were not working properly. Like one user said, it has a mind of its own and I believe the electronics on it were fried. It also cracked one of our glass bottles and the glass bottle shattered when we took it out. So I would not buy this warmer again. I wanted a cheap warmer but I guess you get what you pay for. Never again.

I have the older version of this product, and LOVE it. It's grey, but looks exactly the same. I tried a few other warmers at first, but they did not do the job like this one does, plus other warmers had weird quirks, were not user friendly, etc. I tried an Avent one that said you had to refill every time you warmed, or check the water (too high maintenance), also Munchkin one from Target that sucked completely--didn't warm at all, plus you had to refill water constantly also. I actually purchased two of these warmers, one for upstairs and downstairs (I got mine from Target for $41 each), then they went on clearance for $20. (I had two babies, 13 months apart). Unfortunately Babies R Us doesn't carry this item, and Target no longer does. I never saw the item anywhere else (than Target) but Amazon. I am so dependent on these warmers that I bought a third warmer (when it was on clearance, just in case). I've recommended this to a friend, also. So far the other two warmers have been fine, my sister is pregnant now, so I plan to give her the unopened warmer I bought months ago. I really like how the buttons are user-friendly, consistent (if used properly), and low maintenance. I try to keep the water filled in the reservoir, but it's unnecessary, I believe you need to fill only once daily. I also have the Avent bottles (which I LOVE also), I bought the blue ones for my son & pink for my daughter. One word of advice, since the bottles are plastic, I noticed that you must go up on the volume settings, so it gets the milk to the right temp (for example, if there's 5 oz of milk, then warm the bottle at 6-7 oz). I read somewhere that if glass bottles are used, then you go by the exact volume, since glass is more sensitive to the heat. Of course, this is has been my experience with my warmers. (Make sure you check the milk temp regardless!) Also, sometimes when my babies don't finish their bottles right away, it's easy to re-warm the milk, just adjust the setting to room temp. I have used both breast milk and Enfamil formula constantly in these warmers, and have not been disappointed one bit. I'm surprised that people have given them such bad reviews. Honestly, I could say I've gotten my money's worth for this item, and haven't even done the recommended descaling (that's recommended for many products like sterilizers/warmers/etc.) in the now nearly 16 months of using them--that's how low maintenance it is! The buttons are user friendly, with settings to warm different volumes, different temps, different sizes of bottles (and baby food jars--although I never used it for baby food), and breast milk/formula. Very smart warmer!!

I used this bottle warmer for 10-11 months (as long as my son was picky) and never had a problem with it. I had a tommee tipped bottle warmer previously and that thing just kept cooking the milk, I love that this one stops on it's own and lets you know when it is done. It is also great to have the customizability for the varying types of milk/formula/food and how it has been stored. I would definitely buy again.

My toddler never says no to any foods. But as soon as I squeezed this out of the package I wondered why it smelled SO BAD. I started feeding him it...he ate a few bites each time screaming as he swallowed. Then he refused. Don't buy this. It's awful.

Playfully Delicious - Gourmet Grill and Shish Kabob - Play Set

This is by far one of our favorite toy purchases, it is such an awesome toy! If you are only going to get one toy this year, let it be this one! The size, the workmanship, the functionality (knobs click when turned), the Shish Kabob set (good for fine motor skills), and the overall quality time Pretend-Playing is just great. My husband managed to put it together in less than 30mins even with our persistent son trying to 'help', so, should be fairly easy assembly. We purchased two of the Plan Toys Planactivity Steak Set Play Sets (highly recommended) and two of the Plan Toys Planactivity Sandwich Meal Play Sets to compliment this grill, and they are perfect together. :D

My 3 year old son loves this grill! It's well made and we have had a lot of compliments. I was already a huge fan of Hape and this was icing on the cake :)

I purchased this to use for a summer picnic display for my church. After the event was over, I donated the grill for the church's toddler room. The quality of this product is phenomenal. Details are terrific and it appears extremely durable for heavy use by little hands. Loved that the separate "cooking untensils and food" were all made from wood. Only concern might be how well the items can be sanitized without the paint coming off. I guess time will tell. I highly recommend this product; it's much nicer than any of the competitor's child grills made of molded plastic.

Kushies Waterproof Ribneck Bib, Infant

First I was sad to find that the ribneck part was closed by a peice of velcro. I got the bib because i thought it was a pull over the head type which would keep my 6m old from pulling it off.

It is way too large for a baby and is probably more for a toddler of 2-3 years. The material bunches in her high chair and is just a stretchy plastic.

I like this bib a lot. It is much more light weight the the othe bibs with plastic, and it's not made of weird things. The neck band keeps stuff out better than most bibs and it has little wings that expand of my son's shoulders. The only reason it doesnt get a 5 star review, is the band that goes around the child's neck gets discolored quickly. It is white and anything that touches it, stains it. When I put it on my son, I have to see old stains I coundnt get out. But it's not that big of a deal. It also folds up nice and small. A good bib overall.

This is a descent bib...as many others have stated, it has a white collar that gets stained easily. But I love that I can wash it in the washing machine and dryer. Who has time to hand wash bibs? (I have twins!)

This fits my 5 month old girl well, the velcro neck closure is adjustable and is waterproof for feeding times and can be rinsed under the tap or washed in a machine.

I had purchased a Kushies waterpoof bib at the store and was looking on Amazon for that same one when I ran across this bib version. The quality is just the same as my other one. Waterpoof, easy to wipe spills off, you can wring the water out and hang it to dry. THe pocket catches food. The size is large enough for my 9 month old that it keeps her clothes from getting dirty. Two things I don't like about this bibthe white collarfood gets on that and you can't just wipe it off so it does stain. The second thing is that the velcro is on the side near the shoulder as opposed to most bibs that secure at back near the neck. My daughter has easy access to this area and will often pull the bib off. This may not be a problem for most people but it is easier for the baby to get off with the location of the velcro.
