Thermos Foogo Phases Leak Proof Stainless Steel Sippy Cup, 10 Ounce

Thermos Foogo Phases Leak Proof Stainless Steel Sippy Cup, Blue/Yellow, 10 OunceWe've purchased all three "stages" of these Foogo drinking containers. They all do a great job of keeping milk cold. Insulated is definitely the way to go. I've reviewed them all on Amazon, but this "second stage" cup gets my highest rating.

The three products we purchased:

1) Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 7 oz Sippy Cup with Handle in Blue (7 oz)

2) Vacuum Insulated Hard Spout Sippy Cup (10 oz)

3) Foogo by Thermos Leak-Proof SS 12 oz Straw Bottle in Blue (12 oz)

The FIRST cup, the Soft Spout Sippy, had mildew issues because it had too many porous parts and lips that couldn't be cleaned properly. We should have invested in more than one for our home--it really needs to be cleaned and DRIED before every use. I think if you buy a few and rotate them, you won't have the mildew issue at all. It was also a little awkward to screw the lid onto the canister. The Grandparents still haven't mastered that. Those are the most common complaints.

The THIRD cup, the Straw Bottle, was dropped on the floor the first day our son used it and the lid popped off! There are too many components to it (two parts for the straw, a button top lid that is easy to dislodge...) so it's not toddler proof and it's pretty awkward to clean.

But this (SECOND) cup, the "SECOND STAGE" Hard Spout Sippy, is just awesome. There aren't as many porous parts, it's a relatively simple design (read: EASY TO CLEAN!), and our son drops, throws, and kicks it all the time and it still holds up. This will definitely be the most used cup in our home. And it's hands down our favorite Foogo Thermos purchase. We probably should have skipped the Straw Bottle stage altogether and stuck with this one.

I give this an enthusiastic five stars.

Easy to clean (super important!), durable (also key), keeps things cold all day, and healthy/BPA free. What more could I ask for in a sippy? It was a bit hard to suck out of at first, but I used a nail clipper to cut 2 very small slits around the juice hole in the rubber gasket, and it is perfect now. I've tried many others and they are all a pain to clean or crack easily. I love that I can fit my hand inside the cup to wash it, and that there are no grooves or tight spaces in the lid for gunk to accumulate. Also keeping juice ice cold all day in the summer is very nice. Recommending to all my friends.

These are cute, but that is the only good thing I can say. I read the mixed reviews, thought I'd try the product anyway, especially liked the idea of stainless steel. Don't. Those who say the cups leak are correct. Those who say they are really hard to drink from are correct. Those who say this is a great product, I believe are planted by the Thermos company. They have some great products, I don't understand why they can't make a proper sippy cup when plenty of other brands can!!! These are expensive. I wasted my money, don't waste yours.

It is incredibly difficult to suck anything out of this sippy cup for me, an adult, much less my toddler. The only way to be able to get any fluid out is to not install the gasket, which makes it leak everywhere. I do not recommend this product at all.

I had read the reviews of this product before purchasing. Some good, some negative. I am a resourceful, glass half-full kind of gal so I figured I would be in the "happy" camp of after purchasing this sippy cup from a reputable manufacturer. Turns out all of the negative reviews were right! It is impossible to get the barest sip from this cup. Both my husband and I tried and tried to figure out the "trick" but were left thirsty and with sore mouth muscles. I'm not joking! My one year+ old twins think it's just a toy since they can't get a drop out of it!! We disassembled and reassembled it numerous times trying to figure out what we are doing wrong to no avail. I have even written Thermos directly to see if there is something I am missing. And we bought two of these cups in different colors both won't "sip". I am beyond confused and disappointed. I want to love this product, but since I can't even use it, I have to warn you all about it!!

UPDATE: I took the recommendation of someone else on these reviews. I used a sharp paring knife and sliced just the tiniest slit in the soft rubber insert in the lid (the exact location is hard to describe, but I believe is apparent if you have examined the cup in person). And voila! It works great now. This has, surprisingly, now become our favorite sippy cup around the house! If you've bought this cup, do this quick fix and I think you will be happy.
