PlanToys Plan Activity Large Scale Meat Set

My two year old loves to cut her fruits and vegetables. When I gave her this meat set, she beelined to the fish and now makes us a fish sandwich every day. (I have not idea where she got the idea as we've never had a fish sandwich but I'm not fighting it.)

As with all the other cutting kits, I showed her the difference between each end of the knife and how to cut and after two demonstrations, she got it.

I will be honest, I have no idea what some of the meats are. I just say they are all sausages when she asks. She recently has become fascinated with what I think is the salami. She likes that it cuts a perfect circle not once but twice.

This is a great addition to anyone's play kitchen. It's different than most other sets and has provided hours of entertainment and learning.

The difference between the top of the knife and the bottom of the knife. (The bottom wooden knife is slanted and thinner to assist with 'cutting'.)

Front middle and back (for the fish)

Different types of meat (fish, chicken, steak and sausages)

Together and apart

Cleaning up (We put our foods back together so we can play with them again later.)

I love the Plan Toys line of pretend play food products because they are eco-friendly, made of wood, and non-toxic. Excellent quality, well-made with smooth surfaces, and don't feel heavy. I bought this meat set to go along with the fruit & vegetables, and breakfast. All sets are just the right size for little hands. My 2 year old son LOVES them! He no mouths things but because of the choking hazard I make sure he's not left unattended when he plays with these sets. We really enjoy cooking and preparing meals together!

Bought this for my nephew (3ys) for his new play grill. He just loves "cutting" the food! The pieces velco together and then you use the wooden knife to cut them apart. Yes, the pieces are small as someone noted, but they are kids play food! His little wooden grill would not be able to accomodate anything much larger. Got him a real spatula and real mini-griddle to use as well. He didn't need much and most of the kids play pots/pans sets were too much and were not for the grill. I also got him the Hape Shish Kabob play set; loves it too. Perfect for a little grilling boy!

I can't say enough about the quality of PlanToys wooden toys. They are always well-made using high quality material AND the paint doesn't chip off!!! My kids can be pretty rough with their toys at times...things drop (or get thrown) and the items are still in great shape. The velcro still sticks well, too! Our Melissa and Doug wooden food is all chipped and looks terrible, not to mention how unsettling it is to have toys with chipped paint around your little ones (even if it's "non-toxic" I don't want that stuff in their mouths). This particular set is pretty unique--like a chicken drumstick/thigh and different sausages. Highly recommended.

I was excited to get this set for my kids because they love pretend play and the wooden cutting sets are so entertaining for them. I was disappointed with this set, the pieces are VERY small and the velcro not as good as the other cutting sets we have. For the same price I got the huge crate of food from Melissa and Doug and all of the sets we have from them are better quality. I didn't realize when buying that the entire box of food was only 7x5x2... I assumed this was the dimension of largest toy in the box. The steak is about 2 1/2 inches at biggest. Cute but not as good of a value as other sets out there.
