Buy Nuby 3 Pack Soft Edge Spoon, Colors May Vary Now
Well, again I am pleased with Nuby. These spoons are much better than the metal Gerber ones that are practically flat, so the food just falls off onto the bib. These have the perfect sized and shaped little bowl on the spoon that is just right for feeding your little one. Plus, they do change color with heat, a big plus. They will stain, as will anything plastic, but plastic booster for the washer helps with that.

While it may be unfair to compare a mass-produced, plastic (BPA-free!) spoon with the hand-forged spoons of the Ancient Romans, the golden spoons of medieval kings or even display-case demitasse spoons featuring tiny pewter eagles alighting on the handle or other such collectible spoon frippery; the Nuby Soft Edge Spoon nonetheless holds a firm place in the parent's spoon arsenal (placing just behind wooden spoons that serve as a drumsticks for impromptu kitchen jam sessions). The size of the bowl of the spoon is nearly perfect for small mouths that are just beginning to learn about the whole eating thing. As advertised, the spoons are soft enough for tiny gums and for scraping up drips on chins. The temperature indicator is very helpful. Although the long handles make the spoon easier to use, be warned that they also invite karate chops from flailing hands that will send a glop of food catapult-style onto your wall or ceiling.
As other reviewers have noted, orange foods (carrots, sweet potato, Cheetos, etc.) will stain the white parts of the spoon. If this bothers you, imagine a future archaeological excavation deriving from your long-abandoned Nuby spoon the dietary habits of early Man. "They lived in desperate times," the professor will say, "food had to be grown, shipped, purchased, prepared and inserted into facial orifice #7 instead of mashed and beamed directly into the digestive tract by our robot-farm-slaves: see how the food product has left a residue on the eating implement." Cue "ahhs" from amazed students.
All-in-all, a good spoon considering the competition. My son has been using the Gerber spoons until someone gave us these as a gift. He loves these. The shape of the spoon tip fit in his mouth better and are more practical for more watery foods. They will be perfect when he starts to self-feed.
