We didn't have a need to introduce a bottle until after 3 months old. By then it was too late. Tried countless bottles/nipples/sippy/straw/spouts, nothing worked. We bought this cup for my 5 yr old daughter with Down Syndrome who still struggles with drinking form an open cup because of tongue protrusion. My one year old is using it quite well. She's been exclusively breastfed and I didn't want to start the bottle or sippy cup problem so we went straight to this. I wish they had made the handles easier for her to hold, or had not made them at all. But other than that, she drinks from it easily and we all love it.
