They are light weight and eco friendly. But they melt with hot water. I wash them by hand and they start to melt with hot water. So I don't find it usable for hot food. May be for cool cereals and cool food may be ok.

Yesterday I had to take my 8 month old baby to the emergency room after he threw one of these plates onto our hard-wood floor after chewing on the edges of the plate. Six small small (about 1/2 in each) pieces broke off the plate and when I could only find 5 of them, I couldn't be sure he hadn't bitten a piece off before throwing it to the floor thus the emergency room visit. When these plates break, the pieces are every sharp, and very dangerous. Because they are so light-weight they can slip off of high-chair trays (or of course be thrown by babies) very easily. Well worth spending more for a better quality product that is heavier in weight, sturdier, and can be washed in dishwasher (or just extremely hot-water) as needed without melting.

I thought these plates were a good idea until I placed some WARM food on it...WARM NOT HOT...and it MELTED. They are also started to lose shape when I washed them with warm water. I bought these plates at Babies R' Us and returned them. Do you know what the clerk said to me? "Yeah we've had a lot of these returned because they melt." Well then stop selling them =). Anyways, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME and buy something else. I use Munchkin and Nuby plates and they work great. They may not be made from corn, but they hold up against warm and hot food as well as warm water washes in the sink.

These are good plates and I like that they are made of corn. However, I wish there were three sections rather than just two. Also, the size of the sections could be better. The larger section is good size, but the smaller section is too small, especially in the shape it is. The curves and corners work to your disadvantage when you are trying to scrape runny food together and get it onto a spoon quickly. I like the three section Sassy plates much better. These plates do work fine for finger foods at snack time.
