Reasons I like it:

1) Screened for mercury and other bad stuff.

2) Great lemon taste.

3) Thin gel cap.

2) and 3) matter to me because I'm one of the few people who actually like the taste of fish oil so I bite into the capsule and release the oil. The lemon taste gives it a nice flavor and the gel cap is easy to chew. Other brands have thick capsules which don't taste good and have really oily fish oil taste. For people who just swallow it, the taste of the oil or the capsule don't really matter, but make sure you get a brand which screens for toxins because you don't want to be killing yourself with mercury while protecting your heart.

If you've ever burped after taking fish oil, you know that it can be pretty foul. This product is worth the higher price just for the sheer fact that you DON'T burp that nasty fishy taste. These are quite pleasant. I tried Kirkland fish oil because I was trying to cut down on cost but then the burp thing happened. Suffered the Costco sized bottle and am now back to Nordic Naturals. Muuuuuch better!

Most of the highly rated omega-3 fish oil products are listed. Nordic Naturals Omega-3 is a five star omega-3 fish oil product, which is the highest rating attainable.

TRIGLYCERIDE REDUCTION: Nordic Naturals EPA Elite is brand new. It differs from the other two products in that it contains only EPA and no DHA. It is specially geared towards the reduction of triglycerides levels, similar to the new Vascepa product, made by Amarin. There are a very few omega-3 manufacturers who have taken a similar approach, including Garden of Life Minami Nutrition Plus EPA Mind Formula, (see, Minami PLUSEPA 60 ct Softgels), and Norwegian Gold EPA 1000 Omega Renew Life,(see, Norwegian Gold EPA 1000 Omega Renew Life 30 Caps). While Nordic Naturals doesn't say it, Nordic Naturals EPA Elite appears to target the Lovaza market because of its huge EPA potency, which is effective at lowering triglycerides.

POTENCY: Nordic Naturals EPA Elite is at the higher end of the comparison (83%), and Nordic Naturals Omega-3 is at the lower end of the comparison (35%).

PRICE: Nordic Naturals EPA Elite is at the higher (more expensive) end of the comparison ($.71 per gel cap), and Nordic Naturals Omega-3 is at the lower (less expensive) end of the comparison ($.17 per gel cap).

PILL SIZE: All of these products are 1000 mg gel caps. In terms of size, all of these gel caps are manageable for most folks.

MEALS: Any triglycerides based omega-3 fish oil is best taken with a meal containing some fat, as they are more efficiently absorbed when taken with food.

OPINION: There are a number of things I like about Nordic Naturals Omega-3. The company is ethical and its product specialists are knowledgeable; it is IFOS five star rated; it is inexpensive; it contains no soy; it contains no GMOs; it is molecularly distilled; and it is mercury free. On the other hand, the product does not have high potency only 35%; it is not certified kosher; and it contains small amounts of cholesterol. On balance, in my opinion, Nordic Naturals Omega-3's positive aspects outweigh its negative aspects. Most of its negative aspects are niche issues which are of little or no concern to most folks.

In my opinion, Nordic Naturals Omega-3 is a good product but not an outstanding product because its omega-3 potency is relatively low, although it is inexpensive.

RATING: I rated Nordic Naturals Omega-3 four stars. I rated Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega four stars because its omega-3 potency is not that high. I rated Nordic Naturals EPA Elite five stars, although it is very expensive. I have separately reviewed all of these products.

Ugh. Who really wants to take fish oil when your preggo tummy is squished up by baby feet, assaulted by hormones, and rejecting its contents on a regular basis? But it's sooooo good for mommy and babe ...

I tried several fish oil products while pregnant. The enteric coated that were OK before, I still burped up, and it turned out they had plastic additives that aren't good for fetal genitals (esp boys). Everyone had a suggestion, and each suggestion didn't work for some reason. I didn't have a lot of nausea but was so sensitive to tastes and smells, even opening a bottle of "good" fish oil could make me sick.

Yes they cost a lot more than others, but they were never rancid and, as my naturopath pointed out when she sold me this brand, it's not cost effective if you vomit it back up.

They didn't digest perfectly, but I found that the burped-up flavor didn't make me throw up (yeah that's a little TMI but I know you want to ask ...). The lemon helped a lot.

My naturopath also gave me a very helpful suggestion: Stick them in the freezer, then take them before a big meal. That really did do the trick!

I did notice the benefits too, with stress and pregnant-brain-fog. And I feel good that my baby got the nutrients. I'm looking forward, after I deliver, to switching to the liquid.

Playtex Flip Top Snacker with Twist 'N Click, Color May Vary

After my disappointment with the Munchkin Snack Catcher, I searched the internet for alternatives. I found the Munchie Mug Top Rated Spill Resistant Snack Cup for Toddlers. Ages 1 to 4 years. Made in AMERICA. BPA and phthalate free. FDA compliant materials. Blue Top with the screw lid was what I was looking for and was really tempted to purchase one, but was deterred by the steep $17 price tag for ONE mug-and that doesn't even include shipping! Good thing I am frugal and delayed my gratification. I went to Babies R Us today to check out their buy 1 get one 50% sale on baby feeding items, and stumbled upon these Playtex Flip Top Snackers. MUCH cheaper alternative to the Munchie Mug with the same concept. Plus it also has a handle which the Munchie Mug does not have. With the sale at BRU, I paid around $6.50 (includes tax) for TWO Platex Flip Top Snackers-which is almost a 1/3 of ONE Munchie Mug (without tax and shipping). But even without the sale, one of these Playtex Flip Top Snackers is still only 1/4 the price of one Munchie Mug.

Pros:

1) Twist and lock lid: no more worries of my toddler pulling off the lid while taking his hand out of the mug or him pulling the lid off on his own and food spilling all over the floor or car seats as a result.

2) Stay fresh lid which you can hear "snap" when you put it on the top and you can twist it to keep on the base so you don't have to worry about losing the lid.

3) Affordable (1/4 the price of a Munchie Mug)-same price as other not so good snack catcher cups so you can buy multiple ones and not break the bank.

Cons:

1) Sometimes if you try to put the stay fresh lid on or take it off too hastily it comes off, but you just snap it right back onto the handle if that happens.

2) If the stay fresh lid is not attached to the bottom of the base, then you don't have a full handle and would need to attach it to a stroller, carseat, highchair, etc with a leash like BooginHead SippiGrip, Blue/Green/White which can wrap around the cup instead of one like the Baby Buddy Secure-A-Toy, Navy/Blue which needs to loop through a handle.

3) Still not completely mess proof. If you have crumbs or small pieces and your child turns this cup over and shakes it, the crumbs will fall out as might the small pieces. But definitely much less messier than if the entire lid came off, and the shaking doesn't happen too often with my child.

Updated 9-30-12: A potential consumer asked me to test out these snack cups with smaller snacks such as Cheerios. What I've discovered is the following:

The slots on the lid where your child reaches in is graduated. It is larger towards the rim and narrows towards the center. If your child is a shaker (likes to shake the snack mugs upside down) then there is potential for the Cheerios to fall out from the large end of the slots. Cheerios are just small enough and the slot is just large enough at the rim that if you shake the cup like a salt shaker then smaller Cheerios can fall out from the larger end. This is not an issue with the Munchkins lids as the slots are consistently slim. Thanks for helping me find a flaw to these mugs! But my son is not a shaker (at least not upside down) so for me it would not really be an issue for me. But because I know that Cheerios is a popular snack (this is what I started out with with my son as well), this could be an issue for many. Therefore I have subtracted a star bring down my final rating to a 4 out 5. I've posted a photo with a Cheerio that is not large enough to fall through the slot on its own sitting in the large end of the slot to give an idea of how large the largest end of the slot is.

With my first child I used the Munchkin snack cups because that it all they had at the time but this Playtex Flip Top is a definite improvement. The Munchkin snack cup doesn't come with a lid so your snacks will go stale in your diaper bag and you have to remember to empty an refill. I love that this comes with a snap on lid and keeps everything fresh. The best feature of this cup is that it's a twist on lid so my child can no longer pull the top off and dump all of the snacks!

We love these for our son! We started off with the Munchkin brand snack cups, but after repeated instances of snacks all over the floor and car seat, we found these. He could get the lid off of the Munchkin ones too easily. The tops of these screw on. I'm sure he'll figure that out soon, but for now, these work so great. AND they have a lid. I don't know how many times I dumped snacks out of the old snack cups because they'd gotten stale. The lid on these just pops up so you can rotate it and snaps securely on the bottom of the cup. It stays attached to the perforated screw top so you don't have to keep track of the lid. I will say that my son has figured out how to rip the lid off, but most of the time, it stays attached without him messing with it. I don't know why I don't see more kids with these. They are the best out there!

I've a few different versions of this product and this one is by far the best. My 2 year old son loves to carry it around and feed his 1 year old brother goldfish crackers. He has to work to get the snacks out, which is a good thing or else he tends to grab hand fulls that just end up smashed on the carpet. The game changer for this product is the lid. The way it flips to snap onto the bottom and easily moves to the top. It does come disconnected a bit easily and if I leave it on while my kids have the cup I end up picking it up off the floor or digging it out of the couch. So if they are using the cup in the house I remove the lid and save it for when we leave home or for storage. Speaking of storage! The lid is also nice that I can store snacks in the cup without them getting stale. Overall great product. I sadly lost my first one and have since purchased two more, one for each of my little ones. I was disappointed on the colors. I received one blue/yellow and one pink/green. With girls any color goes, but with having boys I would have preferred not having a pink one.

Munchkin Baby Food Pouch Organizer

First, let me mention how easy it was to install just 4 screws, two for each holder. It was done in about 2 minutes. The screws were almost as long as our shelf was thick, so make sure to check that before installing so you don't end up with screws poking through the top.

Once it was installed I cleaned up that pile in no time. The holder slides out, making it very easy to fill and to find the right one at feeding time.

One tip: If your shelves are adjustable you can arrange it so that the baby food jars can sit right under the hanging pouches, saving a lot of shelf space.

Bambu Baby Bamboo Feeding Spoons, set of 2, Natural

The spoons themselved are very nice but.... the description for the product is misleading. In the description the seller states: ""These feeding spoons smooth natural surface come in a set of 2, with 4 pieces total."

This along with the picture of 4 spoons leads you to think that you are purchasing 4 total spoons when in reality you only get 2. I have emailed the seller, GreenCupboards twice and have not gotten any response from them at all!

I ordered these spoons thinking there would be 4 of them since the product description said there were "4 pieces" and photo shows 4 spoons. I only received 2 spoons, and decided to keep them since I needed them right away. However I find the product description really misleading.

I like the Bumkins bag a lot better because:

1. it's MUCH easier to thoroughly wash and dry on a day-to-day basis. This is the same material as the super awesome Bumkins Waterproof Super Bib. It doesn't hold stains and dries in a jiffy. This makes it very practical to use every day which is key for busy moms. Itzy Ritzy was a lot more difficult to keep clean.

Both have zippers, which I prefer to the velcro.

The prints are loud and colorful. Some adults may find them garrish. My kid loves the Dr. Seuss pattern. I personally would be fine taking this in my own lunch to work. Sure, it's a kid's print, but who cares. It's a sack lunch snack bag. If someone at work is going to make fun of you for having a Dr. Seuss snack bag, they need to seriously grow up.

It's NOT waterproof, but will hold moist things fine. You probably don't want to put anything super juicy in it.

I was bit confused after reading two previous reviews about the waterproofness of these bags. Decided to give them a go. I've put in sliced up apples, just washed grapes and sliced pears and it all worked out fine for snack time. Wouldn't put strawberries or raspberries or anything that can get mushy in a bag for snack. They do hold up for day to day snacks. but not for sliced pears left in a backpack over an entire weekend:) my bad. The wetness was 99 percent contained but not the smell. We really like these bags and use them to replace zip lock where ever possible.

Below is my original 4-star review...After using these for an entire school year I decided to upgrade their star rating to 5. Why?? They have held up very well and I wash them in the washer. I do not wash on gentle cycle but to wash them with only lightweight/non zipper-button clothing only i.e. PJs, T-shirts, etc. I do let them air dry. As my review below stated, I was apprehensive about the thinner material vs. the Itzy Ritzy Snack Happened Mini Playground Superheroes ones I ordered at the same time. However, at half the price I think they are definitely worth it. Give them a try, I think you will be happy with the experience :)

these bags seal well and clean nicely but I like to pack lunches the night before but the chips seem to go stale. If you are willing to pack the items within a few hours of use like before you leave the house then these should work for you.

These are so cute! I probably won't be using them for food but I think they would work great for that. I bought them specifically to keep small puzzles in to take to restaurants for my 2-year-old. He loves puzzles and I had been taking some in my purse in plastic Ziploc bags but was looking for something different for safety reasons. These fit the bill perfectly. Great for crayons too. I got one of the bigger ones as well for some of the larger puzzles. Just dawned on me that the even larger wet bags may work well for shoe bags. I have looked and looked for something to keep an extra pair of shoes in his diaper bag/suitcase other than plastic grocery bags. Wanted something that could be washed and these can be! I wanted an alternative diaper to Pampers or Huggies and was so glad I tried these. I feel so much better that I'm using diapers on my little one that doesn't contain all the poisons that Pampers or Huggies has. I cloth diaper during the day and use these as my nighttime diaper. The product is good, but this company offer is not what it appears to be. It states that you are getting Size 1 44 Ct (Pack of 4); but you only get 1 pack. I wrote to the company and asked that they send the item I ordered, and they insisted that I had only ordered 1 pack, and so that is what they sent. If it is only one pack, why is it ALSO marked as being a 95% savings?

I trusted that this was going to be a legit offer since it was on Amazon; but am now very disappointed in the outcome.

BUILT NY Munchler Lunch Bag

I was misled by a lot of the reviews here. I don't understand why people would say this is too small for a kid's lunch. The reviews made me think this was small enough to stuff in a large purse, but it's not. I was surprised when I received it. It's definitely large and stuffable. It fits my son's Thermos Funtainer, a whole sandwich, an apple, a banana, and you can put cookies or crackers in a Ziplock bag and it will still fit. If that's not enough for your kid, two cereal bars will fit with the rest of the above.

I would like to think that should be good enough for a school aged kid.

My 4 year old loves Benny, and that it opens all the way up to become a place mat at his school, but it's very small for a kid sized lunch and after just a few weeks of admittedly stuffing it (tuperware lunch, drink and fruit is all) the seams are ripping. It won't last.

This is wipable. The inside is reflective material to keep things cold or hot. My son loves it!

If you are looking at this for an older child's lunch, not sure it would work. You definitely will not fit a thermos in there. It can hold a juice box, sandwich and addn'l item.

I bought two Bennys for my twin preschoolers and a Boo for my 7-year-old daughter. All were huge hits. The Bennys we received were a little different from the one pictured slightly less cute but slightly more functional, so I'd say it was a positive change overall. Basically, they are a bit larger than the one shown, and have backpack straps, which make them much easier for little guys to carry around. We get compliments on them every time people see the boys wearing them into school.

The Boo is exactly as pictured, and my daughter and her friends all love it.

In response to the criticisms from other buyers:

According to the packaging, the materials are all lead-free.

It's true that the bags are not particularly thick or sturdy, but about what I would expect for the price, and they wipe clean more easily than most other lunchbags we've gone through over the years, and the insulation is better than you would think for the weight and thickness.

Some complained that the zippers stuck, but in my experience almost all zippered lunch bags begin to stick after a while; we've had no problem with these ones so far.

While I can certainly see how the way these zip down all the way and then zip back up could be confusing for some, there is really no need to use this feature. We usually just unzip the top to get food in and out.

For those who found these too small to hold their kid's food, I wonder which one they bought (and how much their kid eats!), because we have had no trouble. The Benny can hold a large, insulated sippy cup, a sandwich tupperware, a fruit, a yogurt, and two small snack tupperwares, as that's what I pack for my preschoolers each day. The Boo is a bit smaller, but still plenty big enough for an elementary schooler, since they tend to use juice boxes or milk bottles rather than bulky sippy cups. I have no idea, though, how big the other characters are.

All in all, we've been very happy with these, and would definitely recommend them to others.

Pampers Kandoo Flushable Wipes, Sensitive, 100 Count Refills (Pack of 6)

I was not familiar with this product before I purchased it. I just liked the flush-able aspect. Plus the term "Sensitive" suggested that it would not be offensively scented. And, the price per wipe was good. Unfortunately, they are useless to us. These wipes are very, very fragrant. When we are in the bathroom, the question, "what's that smell?" should be reserved for the obvious, NOT the odor of the wipes!! These wipes are tiny and thin, too. Not the same size as other pop-up flush-able wipes, so a new dispenser is required. I think my toddler will have more success just using toilet paper or a full-sized cloth wipe and water. Obviously someone likes this product. Hopefully I can fine a worthy donee.

These wipes are a lot easier on tender bottoms than regular toilet paper. I also think they tend to get more of the nastiness off. My son has a much easier time with these than w/ t.p. Another cool thing about them is the dispenser. You just peel a sticker off the refill, open the dispenser, pop in the refill and you're ready for action. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the dispenser lid is a little difficult for a kid to operate. Even I can't always get the lid to stay down. If the lid doesn't stay down, the wipes get dry and that kind of defeats the purpose.

I was skeptical about these wipes at first, but when I started using them when my son was potty training, I was hooked. Now, about two years later, we are still using them. I have a daycare and all the kids use them to make sure they get nice and clean when they are done on the potty. When we run out, my son cries because the toilet paper hurts his butt (we don't use the cheap stuff either). The scent is nice, and has the perfect amount of moisture to get the job done without feeling yucky.

We also love Kandoo's hand soap, body wash, and shampoo. What a great way to teach kids personal hygiene!!

These wipes are great. My two-year-old just learned to use the potty and he does a pretty good job with these wipes. The only complaint I have is that the number of wipes per package is very limited, so I end up having to refill it all the time.

I noticed some of the other reviewers commented on the heavy fragrance. These wipes are fragrance free it says so right on the front of the package. I have used many boxes of these wipes and the reason I love them is: they DO NOT have a smell. I have quite a few allergies, especially to fragrances and I have not had any problem with these. They really are great, I even use them!

Wanting only top quality items for our infant, we carefully reviewed all available research about mattresses available. The chemicals put into commercial mattresses are shocking, and they can off-gas for years. Considering the amount of time a baby/young child spends sleeping, it's not a risk worth taking.

This mattress is top quality, appears as such with excellent stitching and materials, is comfortable, durable (no "mattress pad" needed), wipes off easily with mild soap and water, and is an excellent investment in the health of our baby.
